Pretty simple suggestion to follow for the OP
I'm hoping that this system will increase post quality by:
 - Forcing people to post high-quality stuff in order to rank up. If you just post garbage, you will never get even 1 merit point, and you will therefore never be able to put links in your signature, etc.
 - Highlighting good posts with the "Merited by" line.

While we will not be directly moderating this, I encourage people to give merit to posts that are objectively high-quality, not just posts that you agree with.

Do not beg for merit excessively.

Additionally if OP does not know how to then... It's just on the bottom left corner.

Okay thanks then.

Just stop and think - is it good to stand outside the supermarket and beg for money? People just think you are a lazy sponger, it's the same with merits. Of course this begs the question of why you want the merits in the first place. Pushing for merits makes yuou look like a bounty spammer.

You should also try to improve your English, or stay on your local board.

I'm not referring bounties, not all of the members in this forum wants to earn merits for bounty purposes. I'm just being amaze reaching high rank since I'm new here. Yes, it can be use for bounty but it doesn't mean you will spam all the time. I saw many good posters (unique posts and very informative statements that a normal participant of this form don't know) and on the other hand they're participating in signature campaigns.

What if you make a good content that will all of us can benefit and asking merit for donation to update the content???

for clarification of my point,......

If you didn't know it was bad you wouldn't be asking the question. You've already received your answer, just don't do it.

Look, if people like this kind of content they will merit it, if they don't they won't. Implying you'd like some merit for what you posted could qualify as begging to some people (to me it does). Just don't do it. If you enjoy creating these kinds of posts and helping others, just keep making them for the fun of it and don't be discouraged if you don't receive any, even if you put a lot of thought into your posts. It's completely arbitrary.

7. No begging.

Not hard to find this information.
In addition I'd add for OP's benefit that yes, merit begging has resulted in red trust being left.  I'm not sure about anyone getting banned, but there have been a number of people tagged as a result of begging--I've left some myself, in particular when it comes in the form of PMs.

Just don't do it.  Not only is it against the rules, it's against the spirit of the merit system.  You're supposed to get merits based on your posts, not from asking people for it.
