We do not all need to agree on this but since Peter Obi lost his court case in all of the courts in the country, he declared that he is now in the opposition. His twitter is filled with "attacks", "Criticism" of the current ruling government. He is doing what the opposition does, but does this help the country's problems? Or is he trying to stay "relevant" until the next presidential elections?
Wetin Peter Obi the do nah a chunk of the beauty of democracy wey give room for opposite to exist and act as a watchdog to the ruling party giving constructive criticism wey go put dem on their toes to make productive policies and give the citizens beta leadership. Imagine say even with the criticisms here and there evry day still the ruling party still the jonz and lack behind with betta economic policies, nah be say if say opposition no dey wey the point out their mistakes in critique na be say them go just feel unconcern weda things de better or not. The criticisms na part of the politics to stay afresh in the mind of the people mostly their supporters make inno be lik say them don the lose relevance and popularity from their supporters. Me I no dey against criticisms in as much has e dey constructive and meaningful.

This is the essence of oppositions, the role of the opposition is to criticise the wrong things that the ruling government is doing, it is either the criticism of the opposition will help the ruling government to sit up to do things better or it will help the citizens to see why the ruling government needs to be voted out from power. It is normal that opposition will always look for loop holes of the rulling government. If their are no opposition ruling parties will do things in the way they want.

Or is he trying to stay "relevant" until the next presidential elections?

I no really see wetin peter obi dey do as something wey we go begin see as say him dey criticize the government or say him don begin play opposition. If government dey do wetin no too good den people suppose talk and that one no be negative criticism put positive criticism so that government go fit think properly next time. Okay we see the way government take do subsidy palliative, I don't know people wey benefit from am. Also this festive season wey dem put some subsidy for transportation wey be bus and train, it was shabbily organised as we all know, so person need to talk.

But regards to peter obi oo, him suppose dey active and stay around people's faces to keep his movementon till the next four years. Him sabi say him no need to leave the space otherwise the next election go be a hard one for him but staying around softens the system for him.

I think you just said the whole fact about what is happening in your last statement made, he's doing that to get more of the opportunity of penetrating more into their midst in other to pave way for his next attempts which is under the condition of wether the current president is going for a second tenure or not, this is nothing but all about politics.

Remember they use to say this that if you can't beat them, then you should join them, base on my understanding, he uses the first means to stand on his own and fight the presidential race thinking he could win, he could have actually won, but they raise a resistance against him more than he has planned to counter against, this is money, influence and power we are talking about and all the three were used against him, he could have won if they had taken is with a simple hand on him but now that he has seen the reality, he should be in for the game proper this time around.

To me oo, I go say make em stop to dey complain like woman, e no get who no get problem for body or abi you wan comot shukushuku for your neighbor eye wey you never comot your own, if em claim to be that good naim em state no turn to London wen e been dey rule. So what are we not saying, currently like this the more e dey judge other government na the more I dey dislike am dey come so. Because pot no go fit dey call kettle black, to me oo, make e just mind e business till the next election, and if e get opportunity win den make we see wattin e fit do, instead of to dey promise us wattin even our economy no go fit afford.

For me, I don't see it as such. There's no true opposition in Nigeria because most of the opposition is done out of rage. Some as a result of the court judgements while others are because the election and the Electoral processes did not favour them. Hence, reason why we don't have a constructive criticism of the government policies and programs rather than the normal witch-hunting and mud-slinging using emotional issues to criticize the incumbent government.

The national assembly is a true reflection of the average mindset of Nigerian politicians with their personal interest superceding the interest of the general public and national interest. There's no such thing like critically analyzing the wrong policies issued by the ruling government or the grandstanding on the lopsided programmes pushed out by the government.

I have not seen anything different from the Peter Obi team as all their dismay and disapproval are streamlined towards the electoral peocess of the past election and not the true sufferings Nigerians are faced with such as the insecurity, economic instability and the other social issues we are battling with today.

Peter Obi is doing what is expected of him and I see nothing wrong in what he is doing. Every government need to be on the check so that they don't feel too relaxed and do whatever they like. He should criticize them whenever they are going wrong and applaud them when they are doing good. This is exactly what opposition do. It's not about him trying to be relevant for 2027 general election.

In my opinion, he isn't trying to be relevant but just wants to keep his passion active until he gets another chance.

Politics in Nigeria is very different from the majority views; games are played for the people to see the leadership active, while shadow parties are the main events. Don't get me wrong. Mr. peter Obi probably forgot one thing, which is that to be part of the system, you have to get your hands dirty. You have to be in the mist of your opponent to defeat them. I guess that's what he's trying to do now.

The role he should have played was to join them from the beginning. instead of it looking like the famous quote that says, ""If you can't beat them, join them." Now he's going to look like a rebel to his supporters, but for someone like me, I know he's doing his best for us and himself.

For me, his criticism is of the current government is out of spite for being shunned by the courts in the country because he too knows that his opinion won't hold much water but he has to give it anyway. More of being relevant than anything else and at some point it can be tiring because he is just like a nagging woman.
The way I see politics in Nigeria, if you don't have a strong backing, if you like drop all the necessary tidbits to help the country get better, it will just be swept under the rug or probably you'd mocked for it because it looks like you are being desperate to be seen or heard. I'm not saying that the present government played by the rules to get to power but if I were Peter Obi, I'd let the sleeping dog lie and work in silence if I hope to get a chance next time, because at this rate if he hopes to get another shot next time, he's only bringing all his cards to the table.
