I would advise any one trying to use this browser for crypto mining to stay away from it because we all know the legit processes of how to mine and this isn't!

Besides anything with a nature of third parties and isn't transparent with how they payout is shared with the pool could be enriching themselves

The Crypto tab is paying but the only problem is they are cheating and you earn less compared to mining with your own.

And I would like to add you need hundreds of referrals before you can withdraw a decent amount or reach the payout threshold if you are going to do it alone it will take you years to cash out

They have ten-level referrals so they motivate their members to promote the site without the cost of advertising themselves.
~

Referral is common and mostly level 1 would really be the biggest percentage since it would poke up people or user interest on spreading those links and this is how a common scam works and we've seen tons of it usually involving ponzi scheme and hypes and this one is been using in the path of mining to make it at least believable.

You're assumptions were true that mining btc does need ASIC mining and that cant be possible if it would be done via mobile. Its just an app that shows mining stats or whatsoever.

Dont easily believe into those claims that earning bitcoin through mobile is possible. Its just a pure scam and better to avoid it right away.

If u want to mine with PC better use Nicehash to mine it pays much more and secure , its since 2013
... and more reasons to not use Nicehash:

Their fee to buying hash rate is between 5% and 6% but they falsely state it's only 3%
You will usually earn less mining with them than on a pool.
You have to trust anywhere you mine to, why trust someone like them with their well know bad history.
They violate the cgminer license with 'their' firmware they distribute
There's major privacy issues with your account there since it only allows a single BTC deposit address so e.g. you can find the full history of anyone's deposits there if you know just one of their deposits.

Who knows what else they do behind the scenes ...

I'd be careful when using Nicehash mining service because I remember back in 2017 when they got hacked and thousands of Bitcoin were stolen. While they worked hard to refund most of the affected users, I wouldn't put too much into a venture like this. I used to patronize miming farms like that in the past but they have very little profit margin since you've to cover other fees which would be deducted from what would be your payout which is small even before the deduction takes place.
Yes, they got hacked and that was 4,450 Bitcoin has been lost and it was posted on this thread back then, 2017.  We don't know what exactly happen and might we think an inside job or an exit scam.

We heard a lot of scams that happen on cloud mining, I don't think OP didn't learn about that, most cloud mining didn't have their own mining machines or they just rented the mining machine and claiming they are the owner.  My advice is to stay away and don't put your money on this kind of investment.

Someone on social media introduced me to CryptoTab Browser, that I will be using the browser to mine and earn Bitcoin. With the little knowledge I gathered from this forum, I was able to tell him that bitcoin requires complexity of computing system with high energy consumption in order to be mined. Which a smart phone cannot do. He insisted that he and his friends have been mining and earning BTC in the app. He went further to show me his BTC balance he earned.
Please, can someone tell me what's actually going on in the browser, as I strongly believe it's not Bitcoin mining that is happening there.

Instead of using such a service and risk putting your laptop to a host of vulnerabilities, I would suggest you put that time into something else. CryptoTab app might be paying (I've heard about it from my friends in the past) but I'm sure the payouts are nothing to write home about.

Are all these warnings enough to make you stop downloading random programs?

Very much enough, the handwriting on the wall is very clear. That is one of the advantages of being in an informative and great forum like this.

Its a scam and dont fall for that because its true on what you had mentioned that Mining bitcoin does need asics and its long time gone that bitcoin could be mine in Computer basing off with increasing difficulty
then its just impossible and this had been a common scam on where those newbies are the main ones who do get victimized with this believing that it could really mine bitcoin and later
on when they had accumulated that much then those scammers would ask out for some deposit before you can withdraw.. Soo much bullshit right?
Dont fall for these classic scams because you would just waste up your precious time and resources.

You cannot mine Bitcoin, but the physical capabilities of your device are used for altcoin mining or any other activities.
The point is that you will destroy your device for a profit that may not be achieved with the possibility of exposing your computer system to hacking, and again you cannot guarantee that you will get any profit. Are all these warnings enough to make you stop downloading random programs?

That's really mining using cpu/gpu, unlike in other crypto that uses asic miners but it can't mine bitcoin using a browser's plugin or any app, even gpu or cpu lol.

That kind of mining is costly for normal users, it can break your device as well due to overheat and etc.

Also, its not profitable and you may end up getting hacked using their browser, worst using browser plugin.

Better do a clean install of your browser if you already installed/use the apps in the past. It is unclear what kind of code it leaves, and there's a high chance they still use your computing power when you're online to do some shady stuff, just not as explicit as before. It is good for you to remember that even if the app is legit, you won't make any profit. The winner, in the end, will be the developer of the app.

If you found a website that says they can mine bitcoin for you with the term and conditions, you must leave that site before you get inside too deep because that website only wants to scam you.

Mining bitcoin will not be possible using the website. You should use hardware, the newest hardware, to mine bitcoin. But that will not directly give you big rewards because you are not the only one mine.

Just leave the website and never take a look back. It is better you use the money to buy bitcoin and just hold it. You will not get scam by holding your bitcoin if you keep your bitcoin in your own wallet.

Some people may want to market you CryptoTab browser because it has a referral earning, if you mine and you used your friend's referral link, it has certain amount your friend will be earning as you are mining with the browser. The broswer uses referral method to make people that refer the most to earn the most, but the actual mining power of your phone can not make CryptoTab profitable normally, even on computer. There is other one called the CryptoTab pro which people will pay certain amount of money to download it, I have not used it before because it can only be a scam if you do not have hundreds or more of people you refer.

Key point about what that site says:
Quote
To increase earnings, a 10-level referral program is provided, which allows you to receive up to 15% of the commission for mining referrals."
In plain English that is legally defined as a MLM (Multi-Level Marketing) scheme which is pert-near the same thing as a Pyramid scheme...
I repeat - SCAM. If you want want to play with it then this topic will be moved to the altcoins sections where it belongs. This area is exclusively for mining Bitcoin. Not crapcoins.

I agree that is a form of scam. But Monero is everything except a crapcoin.

I suggest you learn deep about mining altcoin because you can only mine in CPU with an altcoin. But if you want to mine Bitcoin I suggest you read this link below first.

And only ASIC machines can mine Bitcoin like Antminer s9.

I found the answer on this site for reviews. This information is hard to find on the official website:
https://otzyvmarketing.ru/cryptotab-browser/

"When using the service, Monero (XMR) cryptocurrency is mined with its subsequent conversion into Bitcoin (BTC). For mining, the unoccupied computing power of the system is used, which does not interfere with its normal functioning. Withdrawal of earnings is allowed to the BTC wallet, the minimum payment amount is 0.0001 BTC. To increase earnings, a 10-level referral program is provided, which allows you to receive up to 15% of the commission for mining referrals."

Your profit depends on your processor, see  https://monerobenchmarks.info/

The very few clean variants out there that are not scams mine XRP (Monero) or other very low difficulty altcoin

XRP is related to Ripple. Monero is XMR  Wink
But I agree, there's much higher chance for OP to get scammed and install malware too than earning anything.

Please, can someone tell me what's actually going on in the browser, as I strongly believe it's not Bitcoin mining that is happening there.
OP, keep in mind that mining consumes electricity and produces heat. This means that the few satoshi you may be earning you may be pay much more for the extra electricity you burned and also you may break your laptop if that's where you open this wonder miner (/s).

You should know that a lot of websites are hidding Monero CPU miner. For example coinimp proposes to do this on your website. You are paid in Monero XMR or in Mintme.

You should know that this has happened many years ago and certain browsers have even developed means to stop/disable such mining.

CryptoTab is a SCAM! Period.
Since at least 2013 it has been impossible to mine BTC with a PC much less a smartphone. Odds are it will be loaded with malware to try and get hold of your accounts. The very few (if any exist) clean variants out there that are not scams mine XMR (Monero) or other very low difficulty altcoin which (if it pays out at all) is then eventually paid out in BTC. You are talking about a few pennies per-day at best. Just do a search for it with your fav search engine for details...
