The 6gb model is better but more expensive.

Yeah, I am not thinking about mining Ethereum since it will be switching up to POS soon. I wanna mine other alt coins instead. So 3GB would be sufficient right? I just don't want to miss out on the performance by saving a few bucks. The 6Gb is $80 bucks extra than the 3GB, which I wouldn't mind.

Also, what do you guys think about the Sapphire Radeon NITRO+ RX 570 4GB? Would that be better than the 1060?

Thanks for the replies!

The 6GB versions generally perform only slightly better than 3GB ones on equihash (10-30 H/s, perhaps), and I think you'd see nearly as much variation card-by-card (since no two cards are exactly the same, even among the same model). I'm not too sure about mining other coins, though.

You might want to look closer at the thread in this subforum about 1060 hashrates. I skimmed through it, and it seems like most people look at Ethereum and Zcash, but you might get a better idea about 6GB vs 3GB performance when mining other coins too.

For Zcash, the performance difference is negligible when there's a large difference in price. I recently picked up a couple of 3GB 1060s for <$200 each and will have them up mining Zcash 24/7 next week. At stock settings, they each reached about 280-290H/s with EWBF's CUDA miner. (One has Samsung memory, the others have Hynix, so I'll see how well messing with clock settings goes.)

If you're set on mining Ethereum, the 6GB version may be better if the price is right, but there are other options than 1060s.

Avoid the single-fan 1060s designed for compact mini-ITX cases unless they're significantly cheaper. Saving a few bucks by getting those can make cooling a bit more difficult. (I'd guess a creative box fan solution could work, but I'd recommend sticking with cards that have dual/triple fans or blower-style coolers.)

If you need graphic card for long term to mine eth and eth algo coins then is better to take with 6 gb of memory. But for all other coins
3 gb is enought for mining, no difference at all.

No, it makes no difference what GPU you're using when mining bitcoin since no GPU can meaningfully mine bitcoin any more.

But then you're probably talking about altcoin mining so I'll move the thread to where you'll get the answers you're looking for.

3GB or 6GB? Does it matter? I am looking for the biggest bang for my buck.

Thank you.
