Doge vs. AppleByte? Pff, monero has already won this race!

Dogecoin is a coin focused on having a fun community, AppleByte is focused on having a community interested in arts, and Monere is IIRC a coin dedicated to anonymity.

That's three totaly different niches, I don't see why this is viewed as a competition (for instance, the thread's title).

As I said in the original post 5 weeks ago, it is a simple matter of supply vs demand for Doge, and a waning lack of community focus. Doge still may recover after the large supply clears the market this year, so I think those that write it off may be too early.

But that is why I switched to investing in AppleByte (ABY), the community of users, miners, and investors is steadily growing, and there is a real niche.

I agree. Why are you people still working on other altcoins if you have amazing monero?

Why I prefer AppleByte to Doge

A good example of what I mean by focusing on your community, vs advertising on sleds & cars.

Doge has a big community behind, we have seen price drops in the past but then it have always regained it's value.
The pump/dump period is finished for doge, I think it's a nice long term investment.

Today on Poloniex.com

AppleByte (ABY) - 91 Sat +82%

Doge - 70 Sat -1.4%

Yes Doge is droping badly for last few days but this coin can survive back  in near future

I agree, I think Doge has good long-term potential, and the price will recover, but I think it will take a while, because of the sheer number of coins created this year.

In the meantime, I believe it is good to diversify in another community focused coin, AppleByte - mine some, buys/sell some on poloniex, join the growth from the beginning.

Mined out in 1 1/2 years, 100 Billion coins - means a rapidly diluting value
How is that supposed to work, now? Wouldn't its value actually go up?

I think the dilemma for Doge is that the coins are being created so fast, that the demand is not able to keep up, hence the steady price drop over the last few months, and I think the price drop will continue this year.

I do agree with your point that the price could go up after the 1 1/2 years. But, I think there will be ample opportunity to buy cheap Doge this year, for those that believe in it's longterm potential.

And I agree with the other posters that AppleByte has more risk, as a new coin, but so did Doge in the beginning.

I am not anti Doge, it led the way in showing what a community focus can do for a coin. I believe AppleByte will follow that lead.

Doge is far more stable and safe to invest. While AppleByte might be too risky and not yet proven. For me I will not sell my doge for applebyte.  Smiley

Why I have sold my Doge, and am buying AppleByte (ABY)

Both coins are community focused, and I like that. Doge for internet tips, AppleBytes to support the arts.
I mined Doge from the beginning, did well, but the time has come to move on.
AppleByte launched May 1. 2014 in NYC, Doge is long past the beginning
Both coins are about the same price now.

DOGE:

Declining Price
Steady (at best) community, not growing like it was
Simple clone in the beginning
Mined out in 1 1/2 years, 100 Billion coins - means a rapidly diluting value
Current Difficulty - 890.21
Unfocused, random Charity promotions

AppleByte:

Steadily rising price, traded on poloniex.com
Rapidly growing community
No simple clone, implemented security features like Autocheckpointing & DGW2 from the start
Mining schedule over 8 years, halves approx. every two years, 1 Billion coins
Current Difficulty - 0.51
The AppleByte Foundation is focused on supporting artists
Devs paid in Bitcoin (from the Indiegogo campaign), not premine
