The 1 oz. gold eagle is a really nice size coin with a 32.7 mm width and 2.87 thickness.  I will post a new poll with this size coin to try and get an accurate count of how many members will want one.

I am leaning towards the 38 mm in diameter and the thickness of about 2.9 mm which I believe is the thickness of the 1 oz gold american eagle.  The eagle is about 33 mm in diameter so our coins would end up just over 1 oz of gold.  I'm sure once CI has calculated all the costs from start to finish, we will be able to come up with the appropriate limited mintage.

I guess for a 38-39mm coin we could do with 1.5 Oz, a Maple Leaf 2Oz is 42mm

Thing is, do you mind the coin reading 1.5 Troy Oz?

BTW, other metals different to gold/silver can not be minted with the current mint I am using.

I have never seen a 1.5 oz. coin so it would be pretty unique, otherwise we need to go back to 1 oz and a smaller diameter like 33 mm .

Edit: what was the Doge loaded value?

Gold is a metal much denser than silver, hence coins with the same weight tend to be smaller. I always try, and when minting gold, I reduce the coin thickness in favour of a bigger diameter.

1M Doge coin was 1/2 Oz, with a diameter of 30mm if I am not mistaken.

1Oz 0.1 BTC coin was 35mm

1Oz Silver coins are usually 39-40mm

Comparison between Silver & Gold 1oz size

This is a complex design to accommodate in a small coin, maybe we should aim for 1.5 or even 2 Oz to make it 40mm

But that is double the gold, which is trading at 1817$, we would be facing a cost just in metal of 3600$ + Dies & Minting...

If this project goes forward it will be on a Pre-order basis. With a max of 10-15 as they have to be stored and shipped...

Please, those of you who showed interest chime in and see what you prefer and if you firmly commit to it. If we mint 5 coins so be it, I would be doing this because I like Doge and love Gold coins.

Hey CI!  Appreciate you being open to comments.  What's the widest width we would be looking at with 1.5 and 2 oz of gold?  Also, here's an alternative idea that might be able to accommodate max width pound for pound and perhaps a first of its kind if not mistaken- Palladium (approximate density of 12.0, gold is 19.3, platinum is 21.4, and silver is 10.5).  I've seen silver, gold, and platinum in the cryptosphere but really don't recall running across palladium; however, price is a bit higher than gold at close to $2500/oz but perhaps as much wouldn't be needed for 40mm width or if quantity needed was like 1.5-2 oz, then perhaps width could fall somewhere between 40- 50mm, which may be able to better accommodate the complex design.

Thanks for the suggestion!

With 1.5-2oz we could se 40-44mm coin.

I would love to mint in palladium but last time I asked the mint I work with was not offering as an option. Will ask again once they are back from vacation.

Also keep in mind the sizing of the composition in regard to one ounce of gold. The details are probably going to be very fine and you will lose color.

Im not sure how gold coins are minted if CI could chime in and let the community know it would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking forward the materialization of this project!

Not sure if anyone noticed the spelling on Dogeball.  In the art you can see the small D placed inside the O as I wanted dodgeball spelled correctly but, visually wanted Dogeball.

You should swap the "B" "A" "LL" balls to the other side and swap with the "O" "G" "E" ones....  since it is "Doge Ball" and not "Ball Doge" if was are reading left to right.....

Interested in whatever this materializes into Cheesy Cheesy

Hello folks

Again I am very pleased to see the enthusiasm shown for this coin.  Who knows if or when another gold dogecoin will come around.  The last gold artwork of the dogecoin was CI's 2015 1 million doge I believe was 1/2 oz.  and the artwork was a masterpiece that belongs in a museum.

I would love to create another Gold Doge Coin!

AFAIK the 1 Million Doge Gold was the first (and I think only) gold coin created for Doge, and also the first CI gold coin.

Looks like we have interest for at least 7-8 coins, I would also like one!

I was thinking on 1 Troy oz, 1M Doge was 1/2 Oz.

Denomination should be much lower, maybe 1000 Doge?

Minting 1 Oz gold coins in that limited quantity is quite expensive though. I've only done it once, for CI Ultimate Collectors Set: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/annwtscrypto-ultimate-collectors-set-010-left-3736241

IMO, the coin deserves a higher denomination than the 10k Doge, especially if it is a smaller run. Regardless, I’m just happy to see everyone is interested in another gold coin from the very talented CI.

I don't like doing high denomination coins, its a bigger liability and the scope of potential collectors narrows. We have to bear in mind that when the 10.000 Doge were minted, it equalled to ~2-3$ and the 1M Doge to ~200-300$!!

Ah, makes sense.

what crypto are you thinking about the coin holding, I like the idea of the gold coins, very few gold crypto coins.

Without a doubt, dogecoin Cool  It's been a very very long time since CI's original 2014 Dogecoin for sure.  I can't promise anything I can only suggest and hope CI has time and desire to put this on his busy schedule.  It always helps my case to know there are supporters for this.

Feel free to express if you like the idea as a coin or not.
I do like it but if I were you, I'd get rid of the other body parts to utilize the space for making his face and the hat slightly bigger [at the center] while the wrench and other balls are coming at him from multiple directions, as opposed to a single direction.

- IMO, it might look a bit weird if those balls aren't evenly spaced out on the coin.
- I do know you used the body parts to show he's dodging the wrench and the balls, but since this will be on a coin, it'll use a large portion of your limited space and you might need to save some for adding a text later.

Best of luck Wink

Here we are learning the 5 D's of dodgeball.  Our monopoly guy is learning if you can dodge a wrench you can dodge a ball.  This is pretty much the rough draft before the color is added.  Just a thought I was having for the sport of Dogeball.
