I had the same issue. I searched for satoshi. something else, and satoshi.com came as available.
When i clicked on it, it said verifying availablility and NOT available.
Well, i thought he already possessed the domain. Normally, that is how everyone do it.

it was a mistake from my domain hoster. they confirmed the domain but than a bit later they wrote "sorry, domain is reserved since 2001. we made a mistake"
