Politicians are a group of people who are very good at stringing words together to convince the audience to believe what they have just said in their speech, they will try to pull out that trick when they need other people to achieve their desires. That's my view of what Trump did in front of the Bitcoin community. Everything Trump said was just a promise in his campaign to attract more supporters to support him to become president, but it is not yet certain whether he will actually keep his promise or not. Inadvertently, Trump has changed the views of people who were previously against Bitcoin, but if he really fulfills his promises after being elected president, Bitcoin will become famous and sought after by investors.

Donald Trump's VP running mate, J.D. Vance, is a well-known Bitcoiner. So it would be dumb enough to not fulfill his promises after getting elected. I think he's serious about it. With all of the donations raised in the Bitcoin conference, it's likely Trump will remain a "Bitcoin lover" forever. Even past critics of Bitcoin (Mark Cuban, Michael Saylor, Larry Fink) are now supporting it.

A second Trump term would be a step forward in crypto adoption and innovation within the US. If Harris wins, it will be game over for the industry for good. The fact that she didn't show up at the conference says a lot about her. Election Day is just 3 months away, so anything can happen. Here's hoping for the best. Grin

In this world, no one wastes their time and effort doing something if it does not benefit them. Even in business and investment, we always find ways and even use tricks to achieve our goals, so it is very normal for politicians to use tricks.
The President of the United States is the most powerful position in the world. Ask anyone who doesn't want to sit in that position, it's completely understandable that politicians will use any means to sit there.

Trump needs the bitcoin community to increase his chances of victory, while those who voted for him are also hoping for a brilliant bull season as well as a brighter future for the cryptocurrency industry. It can be seen that each person has their own goals, so choosing and deciding who to vote for depends on the benefits we want.

Well, Democrats are divided on many issues. That is a fact. There are some who support Hamas, while others are against it. Same goes with crypto and other topics. I believe the vast majority are against crypto out of skepticism or pure hate. If the Biden administration has been the worse for crypto, why would a Harris administration be any better? Trump knows how the increasing regulatory crackdown on crypto has scared prominent companies away from the country. He wants to take this opportunity by showing his support for the industry (even if he doesn't end up fulfilling his promises in the end).

I won't discuss other issues because we can't really know what's going on inside the democratic party, but some members of the group took it upon themselves to form the @Crypto4Harris without the participation of Harris. It's clear that they have deep disagreements about cryptocurrency. What does it mean to vote for Harris when she is not part of the Democratic Party's pro-crypto campaign?

Crypto industry players are already sided with Trump, especially with the huge donations his campaign has received so far. The 2024 Bitcoin Conference has been very profitable for Mr. Trump. It would be stupid to take a step back after re-election. So odds are Trump will take the crypto/Blockchain industry seriously if we wins back the White House. Polls are showing both Harris and Trump "neck-and-neck" in some battleground states, so anything's possible. Wishing the best of luck for the crypto industry in America.
It cannot be said that the entire market but the majority of crypto investors are on Trump's side because he is bringing hope to the industry, unlike the Biden administration which is creating despair for the industry.
Personally, I don't expect Trump to keep every promise, but I think at least he won't be as harsh on us as the current administration.

Well, Democrats are divided on many issues. That is a fact. There are some who support Hamas,

There are no Democrats who support Hamas.

It is blood-libel to say that.

Meanwhile, 75% of Israelis want Netanyahu to resign, based on polling there.

Trump is going into the crypto business himself and will use the presidency to pump his own business at the expense of all of the others. If you are in the crypto business in the US, if Trump wins you will be competing directly with the President of the United States.

Not all Democrats dislike bitcoin or cryptocurrency, but the Biden administration's unfriendly attitude toward bitcoin is real, and it is possible that Vice President Harris will also have the same opinion as President Biden when their election campaign does not mention cryptocurrency at all.

But it has been reported that some Democrats have formed a group called @Crypto4Harris to support Ms. Harris because they do not want Trump to dominate the cryptocurrency industry. According to the announcement, they will host an online conference in the near future and will have Billionaire Mark Cuban participating along with other industry members.
If this news is true, it means there is disagreement among Democrats regarding cryptocurrency. And if Harris does not publicly declare his support for cryptocurrency, I also think this group's efforts will also be in vain.

Yesterday, Trump attended a conference for black journalists and declared his support for their rights and freedom of the press in general. Isn't this contradictory to all his previous racist ideas that called for the expulsion of foreigners and the glorification of whites (the white race as racists like to call it)? During the conference, he attacked his competitor Harris and all the beliefs of the Democrats.

This is an example of how many conferences will gain exaggerated momentum because they coincided with the election campaigns of the candidates and the candidates were allowed to attend them, and even exploited them as part of the election campaign. This is exactly what happened with the Bitcoin conference, which Trump (the most prominent figure) exploited to try to gain an additional voter base from outside the Republican Party supporters.

Trump stated that he would facilitate the release of the founder of Silk Road, which does not seem logical at all because this is a judicial matter that has nothing to do with the presidency. He also stated that he would not sell the government’s Bitcoin stock, which is outside his administration’s jurisdiction, and we are not even sure whether the Bitcoin is owned by the authorities or is being held in ongoing cases. In short, he is merely making election promises to gain supporters and this has nothing to do with any current or future US policies that have yet to be considered. It is exaggerated to think that America could become a global crypto hub, at least given the current tensions.

Trump might have exaggerated a bit, but he's the only choice crypto has to thrive in America. RFK Jr. won't even get enough votes to win the election. After all, he's not affiliated to a political party (independent). The big voters are either sided with the Democrats or Republicans. Harris' absence from the 2024 Bitcoin conference has a lot to say about her. If the current Biden administration is anti-crypto, what makes you think a Harris administration would be any better? Under Trump's presidency, the crypto industry was flourishing. Agencies like the SEC and CFTC treated crypto lightly. Even former SEC chairman Jay Clayton was pro-crypto.

Now we have Gary Gensler scaring crypto exchanges and companies away from the country. If Trump wins again and fires him (with a Republican majority in the Senate), the crypto market will turn extremely-bullish. And if he keeps his promise of freeing Ross Ulbricht, the crypto industry will vote Republican again by 2028. Hopefully, the right candidate wins this November. Cheesy

I didn’t say that Democrats are good about crypto. They are very clear about their hostility to crypto and I’m not surprised that Kamala Harris refrained from attending the conference because it represents a niche that is not in the Democrats’ considerations at all. But at the same time, I can’t trust Trump’s promises too much, especially if they come within the framework of an election campaign in the race for the presidency. Everything that Trump is currently promising could have been achieved in whole or in part during his previous term, especially since the Republicans were making a big difference in Congress. I also partially agree with you that the crypto sector may have been a little more prosperous under Trump, but this does not mean that there are no restrictions at all, and Trump himself was hesitant between support and opposition, so he only consolidated the situation, or one might say that he postponed it.

If this news is true, it means there is disagreement among Democrats regarding cryptocurrency.

I suspect 99% of Democrats agree that if making empty promises about crypto like Trump has been doing will yield them more campaign money, then that is what they will do.

So far, the newest candidate of the democratic party has never stated that they will support cryptocurrencies, they have remained silent, which means they will continue their policy of suppressing cryptocurrencies like the current administration is doing. If we vote for them it means we accept their oppression and are satisfied with what they are doing to us.

Meanwhile, voting for Trump is like betting, we can win or lose, there are no guarantees but as I said, it's better to have few chances than no chances at all. If Trump breaks his promise and continues to introduce draconian policies towards cryptocurrencies like Biden is doing, it means our bet has failed.

Exactly. Crypto has been a silent topic within the Democratic Party. They're avoiding it as much as possible. Especially when Donald Trump has been a staunch supporter of the crypto industry. Kamala Harris wants to be seen as the "opposite" of Donald Trump. And what better way to do this than going against everything "The Man" has proposed so far?

Most recently, Kamala chose Tim Walz as her VP running mate. I'm not aware of his support for this nascent industry. It's all been talks about abortion, gun restrictions, and whatnot. No mention of crypto whatsoever. If crypto users in America are smart, they'll vote for a pro-crypto candidate such as Donald Trump or RFK Jr. The former has better chances of winning the White House as crypto industry giants announce their overwhelming support. Only can only hope the US turns into a crypto hub in the future. Otherwise, it will be left behind in the dust. Smiley

It shows nothing buddy, he's a politician and their promises are forgotten ass they enter office. Judging from his history with Bitcoin support, we shouldn't believe him, but let's keep our fingers crossed and hopeful he's not exploiting the Bitcoin community.

Personally, I'll start believing him when he eventually wins, but as for now, he's only being strategic with his campaign activities. He may be sincere actually, but as long as he's a politician bidding for an office term, I take his statements and promises with a pinch of salt.

But, what if he doesn't keep his promise? This is a common scenario in the Election field. Anyways, I heard that his main foe Biden, is also into crypto/Bitcoin and I can trust this guy better than Trump because I think the guy had mostly done good things than in Trump. I'm sorry for saying this but that is only what I think about and observed. On main topic, I think this was when Trump got shot by a random dude. Lucky for him that the shot was not fatal and he still continues to show up in the conference. A lot of people are then bullish about it and I think that leads for the price to rise. Up until now, the bullish sentiment is still there. This is great and I hope we can now hit or reach a new height this time.

I am not a U.S citizen, but there is more to life than BTC and people would not just make a decision of who to vote based on who is the supposed 'crypto guy', i am sure there are other aspects people would be looking at before they make up their mind on who to vote for. Unexpectedly, BTC and crypto is playing a huge part in this year's election, i only hope it turns out good for our network in the end.
Same here. We may not be a U.S citizen but we are here involved in crypto and in Bitcoin, and yeah that there is still a big world out there and they have a different view in regards to this matter.

It was ' interesting ' rather, that this year/round of Election had some crypto involvement. It was like it is an added twist to the traditional Election that we are always seeing, though I won't say that it is surprising since cryptos are not a new thing anymore and a few of these candidates are now mentioning cryptos even before. Both candidates has positive sentiments towards cryptos, so don't worry and I'm sure the outcome will only be good.

Of course, bitcoin is not the only thing we need to care about in this life. There are many more important things, and who to vote for will depend on each person because each person has a different problem in life. Not to mention, bitcoin and cryptocurrency are not a big topic or key factor in this election, the issues of inflation, abortion, military, immigration are much more important.

But since we are only discussing what has to do with bitcoin and cryptocurrency, I say there is no reason for us to vote for an anti-bitcoin candidate. Regarding voting for Trump or Harris, Americans need to evaluate many other factors and what they want most, not just bitcoin.

Politicians will always be politicians who take advantage of every possible opportunity to market themselves to the larger community. No doubt Trump is a smart leader and knows where to take advantage of to gain more points for himself. Although he is a business mogul that fits his aspirations as a politician to soar high when looking at the economic aspect. I believe he would do much better when it comes to cryptocurrency. So far, he has made his intentions publicly known and from the looks, he means what he is talking about  Bitcoin, if he does as he has said, there will be a massive adoption of cryptocurrency globally.

I think this would usher in a new all-time high and the price speculation of $100,000 would be in the pipeline waiting to overflow. This might look like a joke but I think it is a step or action on course. Let us watch how it goes.

Even if he breaks his promise after being elected, it is not too surprising because that is the nature of politicians. The only thing we can do is either not care about this, or two, not set too many expectations so as not to be disappointed if he breaks his promise.

And... another bunch of positive sentences with regards to Bitcoin coming from a POLITICIAN that's a "PRO-BITCOIN".
The question is, will his stance the same when he became a president "YET AGAIN".

I mean he can say positive things about Bitcoin, and can be a sweet talker now, but can change himself when he is elected. I'm not against Trump because he's the obvious winner in this year election (unfortunately), but I just don't like the fact that he's using Bitcoin to gain popularity. USA will be the reason when the price of Bitcoin skyrockets? As if that only American people are the only ones investing into cryptocurrency. Cheesy

Call me pessimistic, but I will wait for him to do what he's saying with regards to Bitcoin. He said many things already about it, and I just hope that he will do it when he gets elected.

If you look at how Trump was able to achieve his current success, it cannot be separated from his method of diplomacy, politics and controversy. What he said at yesterday's conference were just the words of a politician, nothing more or less, and it was very different compared to his statements several years ago about Bitcoin. However, as long as he is still on the side of Bitcoin, I don't feel that it is completely wrong, but just don't have too much hope for what he says, because if he can change his words about Bitcoin in just a few moments, then he might be able to change his policy on Bitcoin later.

Yeah, it's a waiting game for crypto enthusiast, if ever he will win this year's Presidential election. He is such a controversial figure that there are people who either love or hate him. And not after speaking in the conference, it pushes the price to $70k for a brief moment, so good job for him and then there are people who took advantage of it and sell.

So we will see if he is going to be true to his words, or just like the rest of the politicians that after being re-elected, they totally forgot their promises, on what they said during the campaign. But majority would agree that Gensler should really be fire from his office,  Cheesy

to be honest it sounded like he had ulterior motives(which he most probably has). the guy hated Bitcoin a few years ago and even called it a scam. I don't know what changed his stance but I am certain he is not standing for the Bitcoin community.
He is standing for the sake of his own success with this upcoming presidential election, certainly not for bitcoin and its community. I think not only you but majority of us here are still doubtful about Trump. Until we don’t see him supporting bitcoin and its community if ever he wins, my hesitation towards him will certainly remains.

If you actually lived in the USA and knew something about the politics here, you would not support Trump--even as a foreigner.

Trump's political support comes mainly from two things:

1. He promises to criminalize abortion in the USA, and attack women who have already had them by exposing their personal information.

2. He promises to deport 5% of the US workforce immediately, leading the massive economic disruption.

Both of these things will be very bad for Bitcoin, even if he doesn't move to takeover Bitcoin or replace it with his own currency, which is also very possible under Trump.

But with so many in the Bitcoin community now begging for government intervention into the Bitcoin market--because they think it will temporarily prop up the price--I think Bitcoin's days as an independent entity are numbered.

Inviting the government into Bitcoin's business is like inviting the Mafia into the business: they are nice at first, and then they will want their cut, and they they will take control.

Here's how it will all go down:

1. Trump will order the US to buy a huge chunk of Bitcoin, giving the US government effective control of the price of Bitcoin since the US has the power to buy and sell so much at once.

2. With control of Bitcoin's price, Trump can then extort any imaginable concession from the community he wants.

3. With control of Bitcoin secured, Bitcoin will then be controlled by US politics, and things like abortion drives US politics, not the net worths of people like Elon Musk.

4. Voters who want to fight the new "War On Abortion" will want to control anything that allows payments to be made for illegal abortions, e.g. Bitcoin and other cryptos.

5. Hence, Bitcoin holders will be given a choice between accepting a defacto US takeover of the Bitcoin network or it being replaced by something that Trump himself profits from (or both).

I keep saying this, and it's pretty obvious what is going to happen (maybe not exactly like that, but generally), but it would seem that the Bitcoin community is controlled by a few Bitcoin whales who care about absolutely nothing in the world except the price of Bitcoin in the next 72 hours.

What Satoshi actually invented was the easiest market to manipulate by governments in the history of mankind.

However, as long as he is still on the side of Bitcoin, I don't feel that it is completely wrong, but just don't have too much hope for what he says, because if he can change his words about Bitcoin in just a few moments, then he might be able to change his policy on Bitcoin later.

I really liked Trump's speech, he drew the world's attention to the benefits of bitcoin, now we have to know if he is saying this to capture more votes or if he is saying this because he feels it is the right thing to do... Yeah The support of the American Senate is also necessary for everything to be put into practice... the part I liked most was Gary Genler's dismissal.

to be honest it sounded like he had ulterior motives(which he most probably has). the guy hated Bitcoin a few years ago and even called it a scam. I don't know what changed his stance but I am certain he is not standing for the Bitcoin community.
I watched the live stream and watched the Bitcoin charts at the same time. I also took advantage of this to take a little profit from the speech that was given. Honestly, Trump speech was very fiery about the future of crypto, especially Bitcoin in the US. He also accepted a donation of 1 Bitcoin from the CEO of Bitcoin Magazine to make Trump a Bitcoin holder. Trump said he would not sell his bitcoin. Exciting news, and also optimistic if Trump is indeed elected, it will determine a bright future for the Bitcoin industry in the US. He has said many times that Bitcoin will reach the moon.

Regardless of his current political interests, what Trump said will be a promise that he must fulfill if elected. I think the US will slowly become the crypto capital of the world as he said. And Senator Lummis is planning to propose to buy 1M worth of bitcoin over 5 years.
All of us who support Trump hopes that he will keep his promises if elected, but we should also be realistic that there is no guarantee that he will keep his promises because politicians are unpredictable. So don't be too subjective and expect too much otherwise we will feel extremely disappointed if it doesn't turn out as we expected.

Not to mention , there is no guarantee that Trump will be elected because according to some recent surveys, Ms. Kalama also has great support and is not inferior to Trump. It can be said that the election is taking place quite excitingly and nothing can be said in advance .

Trump did well and as a politician he knows how to capture the mind of his audience and for this particular Season where bitcoin community are increasingly progressing in both knowledge and awareness of the true nature of bitcoin is very important for a strong political gladiator like Trump to quickly take a stance on bitcoin and the entire cryptocurrency industry this is because with such support for the cryptocurrency industry, he will at the same time have the love and support of the voter's in the coming elections.

Although we can't expect too much because at the end of the day, regardless who win the election, the fact is government is government and at most there will be regulations before adoption so centralisation will become the order of the day going forward.

Trump also stated that if in future bitcoin price skyrocket that let it be that America was the cause to make such happen.
No doubt about it, the US is currently the capital of cryptocurrencies. The country accommodates the majority of the sectors that make up the crypto industry. This is why economic and political policies in the US will always affect the market. Certainly, a sincere crypto-friendly president in the US will contribute to the growth of the currency globally.

Words are cheap. Politicians can say or do anything to get power. Once they are enthroned, you can't hold them responsible for mere promises. I like the message of Edward Snowden, one of the speakers at the conference.

People seem to be upset about his comment that people can continue playing with Bitcoin. I don’t think he meant it like that though. Pretty much everything else he said was extremely bullish. It’s hard to believe to be honest.
They over expected on Trump and if they are realistic, they would have realized that Trump is like Bitcoin outsider, not Bitcoin insider, not Bitcoiner. Expect Trump to deliver his speech with good stance and practice on Bitcoin is unrealistic and too much expectation.

Trump and his pre-President-Election rally helps Bitcoin Spot ETF applications were approved, then Ethereum Spot ETF applications to be approved. Because the SEC. under current President and his party's leadership, smelt risk of losing the President position in White house and domination in the Congress, so they were forced to changed recent months and made approvals on Spot ETFs of Bitcoin and Ethereum.

It's successful and considerable contribution from Trump but I don't expect more than that.

Trump is a top level politician and a great businessmen and he's also the master of manipulation and that's why we can't really say anything right now that either he will stand with Bitcoin and crypto community after getting elected or not.

His past and current thoughts about crypto and Bitcoin are quite eye-catching but I still have to see what he'll do if he gets elected as US president once again this time. I hope he won't take a U-Turn as most politicians take after getting elected.

I support and vote for him because I hope we will have a better future than what the current administration is doing. But I need to admit to you that it is too early to completely believe what he said, politicians are not as simple as we think. What they promise before the election and after they are elected are two completely different things because most politicians will turn their backs after receiving our votes and being elected.

If we vote for him, the only thing we can do is hope he is as serious about bitcoin as he says he is. That's the only thing we can do, don't be too subjective and put too much expectation on politicians.

The Bitcoin Conference has grown interesting over time. The first one had around 70 participants. Today, speakers alone are already in the hundreds. The earliest conference was only a day. This time, it's 3 days. It's probably a lot cheaper, if not free, to attend the Bitcoin Conference when it started. Today, it's a hell lot more expensive.

And although the earliest conference was already ironic in that it was bannered by centralized services, they were probably honest innovations, technological development done by believers of decentralization. Today, however, the conference is headlined by politicians who have no qualms lying through their teeth just to court voters. Even minor speakers aren't anymore led by technological innovators. They're led by congressmen, senators, wall street people, and the like.

I'm not sure who influenced who, which infiltrated which, but if you say that this "shows Trump great interest in bitcoin" and that "he is also standing for bitcoin community", then I doubt it very much. If a man is convinced into Bitcoin by a politician as dirty as Trump, it may be that his belief in Bitcoin is built on sand.

The speech will probably not be enough to move the needle for people who were on the fence about supporting Trump. It was the kind of sales pitch you would expect from a politician. The point was always to raise a lot of money from the crypto bros in town for the conference, and I’m sure he will accomplish this goal. The big news was that he would create a national strategic stockpile, pledging to maintain the current BTC acquired from criminal seizures. I’m sure Bitfinex will not be too pleased with that, since nearly half of the BTC held by the U.S. government was seized from the Bitfinex hackers.

Attending the conference is a great move and a good one for the Bitcoin community. Even though he might have other intentions and agendas,  it becomes easy to hold him by his words which for now seem positive for Bitcoin. However, I have learnt not to swallow the words of politicians hook and sinkers,  rather I will take it with a pinch of salt as only time will reveal what the true intentions are. While we wait for the elections, it is wise to enjoy the gains that the market will make following these developments.

First of all the dumbest thing to do in this is to trust any word of a politician during election campaign period because they will definitely get the crowd growing with what they know the crowd wishes to hear. This days the issue of bitcoin and cryptocurrency is easily up in the news simply because Politicians have found out that the most masses prefer this new technology and if they realign their policies towards the technology many will believe in them and that’s exactly what’s happen in US.

I don’t even found the fact the Trump was actually an anti bitcoin before in the past because he wouldn’t be the first person to have a change of heart people like even one of the biggest investor, Michael Saylor was also first against it before the turn, but turning back into it during campaign period is what I don’t think is ok, but should his intention comes out clean after election it will be a huge bullish sentiment for the market

Politicians always tell us the things we really want to hear, that’s exactly what is Trump is currently doing at the moment. Still, I’m not convinced that his heart is now on bitcoin and supporting it all the way. This is just very unlikely of him most especially if we have come to witness how he handled bitcoin negatively in the past years. But if he is really serious about this, that’s good but politicians will always be politicians, they are the great liars of all time.

This was Donald Trump speech at the Bitcoin 2024 Conference held in Nashville.

Quote
Former United States president and current Republican candidate Donald Trump announced his intent to make the United States the crypto capital of the world, if elected in November.

After taking the stage an hour late, Trump addressed the crowd at the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville, Tennessee, Trump said that he had great respect for the Bitcoin community, adding that “this is like the steel industry” when it was young.

He told the crowd he had "great respect for the Bitcoin community", adding that “this is like the steel industry” when it was young.

He also predicted that "one day" Bitcoin would overtake gold, gushing that "Bitcoin is not just a marvel of technology, as you know it's a miracle of cooperation and human achievement."

Trump also stated that if in future bitcoin price skyrocket that let it be that America was the cause to make such happen.
