Bump

Donations still being accepted.  This makes a difference in people's lives in a direct and observable way.  Great cause.

Absolutely!  We are barely at 30% of our goal, we welcome support from the Bitcoin community!

And thanks for the bump! I'll consider it a bday gift as 3/29 was my bday Smiley

If I'm not mistaken, it was due to the efforts of those associated with Bitcoin 100 (I played only a very small part) that got The Water Project to accepting bitcoin donations: https://blockchain.info/tx/52febaf98250431a8b5caf5cf9ebbc38371516412d8c27441f024824f9daeed4

http://bitgivefoundation.org/ is a legitimate Bitcoin Charity.

Connie, if you would have started this campaign a week prior, together we could have accomplished your goal, assuming it wasn't reached.

Thanks, Bruno!  I did not know the role of bitcoin100.org in The Water Project's decision.  That's great!!  We were looking for an organization doing water work in Africa for our next campaign and saw their Welcome Crytos message on Twitter.

Thanks for your great work!!

The Water Project is no scam, and they're no beggars.  these guys are helping people that are about as screwed as people can be.

no water.  not in your house.  not in your town.  people walking hours for a damn jug of water.  really think about what is possible without water.  pretty much nothing.

western 'poverty', with it's cable TV, cellphones, free education and the rest does not compare for 2 seconds what these people are dealing with, and it's not like they've got the tools to bootstrap themselves out.

don't want to donate, then don't fucking donate, but trash talking these people is about as ignorant a thing as I've seen on this forum.

if you'd like to do something that really helps people, let loose with a couple of bucks for these guys.  these are the basic building blocks of life for these people and a well is a huge thing in these areas.  It really matters in a fundamental, bedrock sort of way that I know has to be difficult to comprehend for literally all of us, just try to step back and actually think about it a bit.....

THANK YOU.  Sometimes we need a little perspective. Our privileged culture has not a clue what goes on in most of the rest of the world ...

I think this says it all - https://www.facebook.com/thewaterproject/photos/a.199994390127.265170.16864915127/10153930888975128/?type=1&theater

i hate the different scam beg requests that have appeared on this forum recently.
but i have to admit that i donated using the address on the proper waterproject website.

eventhough i know only about 75% of donations go to end projects*, atleast its better then red-cross's 30%

*read the waterprojects financials, last year 1.66m contributions with 1.23m sent to projects

We appreciate your donation and do not consider the formal, organized BitGive Foundation, which is the process of receiving a non-profit tax exempt status from the IRS, and our campaigns for legitimate charitable organizations helping others to be "scam beg requests."

We are providing information in venues where Bitcoiners communicate.

A global and digital community communicates in such ways.

Thanks, but my brother's company's decisions, your opinion of Doge, and your opinion of [Suspicious link removed] clientelle have nothing to do with the BitGive Foundation and our campaign to raise funds for The Water Project to bring clean, safe water to a community in Sub-saharan Africa.

Hello Everyone,

We are welcoming The Water Project to collecting donations in Bitcoin - they recently announced they were accepting cryptocurrencies - https://thewaterproject.org/welcome-cryptos.php - and raising funds for clean safe water in a Sub-saharan African community.

Our support for this charity accepting Bitcoin and for bringing clean, safe water to those in need could certainly use some more help. BitGive kickstarted with 2 BTC and we have received about that much more from the community; however we are at less 30% of our goal.

Recently, the dogecoin community donated over $11k in one transaction to Charity Water and they are currently showing us up, BIG TIME.

Please help prove me right that the Bitcoin community wants to support charities accepting Bitcoin and wants to DEMONSTRATE THE SOCIAL VALUE OF BITCOIN by helping others in developing and 3rd world countries.

Tomorrow is World Water Day - Let's meet our $10K goal and support this charity and a community in Africa!

Great, maybe you can get your brother to stop being involved in fraudulent "foundations" like the Bitcoin Foundation.

Then maybe you can stop associating with scammy shit a la Doge.

Then maybe you'll be taken seriously. Probably not here, as this forum is patently insane, but generally speaking.

I've been donating to the water project for years.

These people are doing absolutely awesome stuff.  People can't do much/anything without water.  Answer:  drill wells for people that have no access.

They'll send updates on 'your' project, ie, the project to which your money is allocated, so you can watch the progress and know when it's completed and they don't spam the shit out of you asking for more money.

Really cool stuff...
