Well I'm not familiar with the company but I do thank you for the warning.  Got to be very careful these day.

Living in the west coast of USA I've never heard of Virgin Media but I assumed it was a run off of Virgin, Virgin Mobile, Virgin Airlines, etc. I would think that they would be more advance then what OP is stating.

Ignore Lethn. He doesn't know what he's talking about half of the time, but just because he may be experiencing some problems with his connection doesn't mean everyone else is.

The sarcasm is strong in this one Tongue Also I pity anyone who has to live in London with those bloody house prices because no one is going to buy them either if they go on sale, unless they have more money than brains.

I believe you would usually need brains to make money.

Nope, its you have no brains if you think money is worth anything!

Virgin is actually the best company you can get in the UK which.... Says it all. Only other choice is ADSL (virgin is sole cable provider mainly) which means you  got to deal with.... BT who ARE the worst company out there! There's nothing British about BT and its VERY private! You could use sky which deal with BT for you but they still charge £15.50 for standing charge a month that goes to BT but at least you don't have deal with them yourself. That standing charge was about £5 not too long ago but competition tonbt made them charge more and more as they lost customers.

Its just 1 giant ponzi scheme and the sooner mesh networking is here the faster we can scrap these 20th century dinasour companies and ideas! Destroy copyright and IP so we can tear down these huge institutions that serve nothing Tony's but pain and suffering and start a new world.

Dreaming there a little as people are still sheep following there masters but hey, a little dreaming here and there isn't too bad for you ;-)

Just found this thread whilst searching for 'virgin', but thought I'd share my opinion on
Virgin Broadband. I've been with them for years and never had a problem. Had a few letters about unusual downloading activity when I went on a couple of torrent sprees out of the blue, but aside from that nothing else. Got a free upgrade sometime last year too.

I recommend Laid Media, much more mature than Virgin Media.

23 yeah I know, I need to move out, working on several things right now to enable that Tongue I decided I wasn't going to chase university like everyone else because I didn't want to get into debt and for education reasons blahblahblahblah thing is though, when I move out I'm going to make sure I don't have to come back Cheesy Bitcoin is a part of that so I can guard against inflation oh and afford a bloody house without having to get a mortgage.

That sounds like an extremely solid investment plan.

I am older than you, but if you live in London like me. It is next to impossible to move out.

Anyone from the UK will probably already be aware of just what a shitty ISP Virgin Media is, they lie to your face about the actual broadband speed your getting ( To this day my parents still don't believe me that they're just making it up that they have fibre optic, the connection they get is still through a standard copper wire ), they are incompetent, they have no working knowledge of the software and hardware they're using, they spy on your bandwidth usage and limit it or try to get you to upgrade if you're using a lot and they're at the forefront of this ridiculous war on the internet and filesharing we have in the UK.

I say this with some caution as well as just outright fury because I thought it was just some kind of weird glitch with the Waterfox browser I'm using but I can't actually log into the personal email address I use, but along with our usual problems with the broadband ( which thankfully have gotten better over the years ) I've been getting mysterious delayed messages coming in several hours behind from when they were actually sent. I also found that they randomly decide to have maintenance which while I'd normally call a good thing there's no warning and it's actually gotten so bad I'm abandoning the service completely and just switching to google. They may spy on you and snitch to the NSA but at least they make sure their stuff fucking works while they're doing it.

In case you're confused as to why I haven't quit yet, I have no choice unfortunately, as you're all probably aware I'm like most people getting into Bitcoin, fairly young and still living with the parents, rest assured though, the second I get the money I'm moving the fuck out and staying way from this shitty ISP I urge anyone who is either considering moving to the UK or already living there to do the same.

p.s. Please please, someone make an open source/decentralised internet that's uber fast, fuck if I ever get a ton of money I think that's the first thing I'll invest into because I'm sick of having to deal with these incompetent scumbags.

The speed of your Internet speed will be determine by where you live. I live in the stick, so I only got 1MB Internet. That is just how it is. Every ISP monitor your bandwidth usage, they are not spying on you. This is standard practise, I have worked for many Telecommunication companies around the world. Everyone do that.

The Internet is already decentralised, and if you know TCP/IP you will know it is already open source.
