AFAIK, by default newbie can't send PM to other member unless that member explicitly enable option "Allow newbies to send you PMs.", so i wouldn't worry people got scammed with this trick.

But what about those people that really are just learning about bitcoin? What about those that are venturing out of their confort zones and are looking for a place where knowledgeable community members discuss so they can see what bitcoin is all about? I wouldn't condemn a user just for being new, but the attitude and the content of what they're sharing, that's what's important to keep in mind. This guy you describe, absolutely, we don't need people like that. But come on we have to be welcoming of new blood, otherwise how are we supposed to reach bitcoin's true potential if we're turning people away just out of being new.

I doubt people who actually want to learn about Bitcoin or need help about Bitcoin would PM random member, making a thread is clearly better option.

I wouldn't expect any member in the forum to fall for such. Though not so direct, the red warning on top of the message should be somehow enough to make any member aware of the possibility of getting scammed.

Thanks a lot for your support. I was gonna do something about it when my network server started misbehaving. I could login except now. However, I'm using android and not PC. Thanks again.

Sure! We need new members but.... Not such. I hold seminars, and help people who are zealous sign up here. But for such member.... No way.

Tho I know we can really control that, I wish there was a way.

One of the ways is to block newbies to send you a message. Look at the setting in your account profile
>>Personal Message Options
From here you can also create your own list with people to block their PMs.

As for the message itself, who's dumb to think it could work and who's dumb to fall in.

Some scams are just so obvious that I wonder how people still fall for it. The last time, it was a Chinese man, now this. It was 3 days ago when I was notified that I relieved a personal message from someone. Opening it, I saw what you see below. Even tho I knew it was scam, I went ahead to look up his profile (https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/rustch67-2785208) and surprisingly, I noticed that he messaged me 35 minutes after singing up on this platform. Firstly, we don't need such people on here. Tho I know we can really control that, I wish there was a way. Secondly, it'll be stupid for someone to fall for something like this. Sorry for using that word but.... Must people just fall for it unnecessarily. Please and please, be careful with the people you meet online. Most of them aim at build your trust for them and then they hit and run. Don't trust anyone. This person may not be a scammed because of the amount of bitcoin he mentioned (quite small) but the point here is that we all should be careful with out bitcoins. Don't get too attached with people on here.
