Well I do think you are right if we are depressed we do not need to gamble. When we gamble it is a risk and if we are depressed then we will take risk sometimes we can not afford if we lose it.

If we feel that we are depressed we then need to try to make ourself feel better. Because if we lose more then we will get more depressed and that is bad feeling to have.

Then when should one gamble, under moderate emotions? What can be called moderate emotions, when one is not too happy and not too sad at the same time, is that what you actually mean?
Yes, exactly. You should gamble when you are sober. That time your head is clear and you can think straight. There are people who can gamble regardless of how they feel and it doesn't influence them. These people are outliers and they are just few. I can say that they have the ability to suppress their emotions and lock it up while they gamble so it doesn't affect them. They have other forms of coping and it is not through gambling. While the majority of the people can't do it.

I agree in general that one shouldn't gamble when depressed. We have a saying in Spanish and I've searched it in English, and it is even more graphic as it says "in for a penny, in for a pound". It seems to have a positive connotation in certain contexts, as it can refer to perseverance, but in Spanish it has only a negative one, referring to the thought of: "as I already lost a big part, who cares anymore about losing it all?".

As per gambling when too happy, I don't see it so clear. Some people may make bad decisions due to euphoria, but I think that it is more difficult to make terrible decisions in such a state.

Don't engage in gambling when you are depressed, if you are looking for a distraction try to do something productive instead.
If I am not mistakenly had seen people talks about gambling to whine away their sorrow like if they gambles they feels more happy and forget about what they have faced for days or the stressful moment they had their offices. The major thing Is that people with the way they positioned their minds towards gambling as some people may see gamble as something to forget about their angers and bitterness.
The worse the depression that can control your emotions while gambling is when you are losing, this control your overall thinking and reasoning towards every action you takes while gambling.

It sounds very strange to me that people will prefer to gamble just to ease depression or forget about a troubling situation they might have found themselves because it's almost similar to someone who drinks alcohol to stupor just because they want to ease their stress or forget about an ugly condition because it will instead worsten the situation than proffer solutions. How can someone even think of using gambling as an escape from anger or depression when they know that in the quest of staking bets, they can be unlucky and lose a lot of money such that when they realize who much they have lost already, it can even send them to more depressed state. No matter how you tend to position your mindset on what will ease tension in you while depressed, gambling at that material time should not be used as an escape route.

Good! I love when you used drinking to ease their state of minds, yes of course, there are people who are like this and whenever they have some drinks they forget all about things that earlier affected their state of mind. As we know we can have anything to ease our anger on the process, so there are people who definitely loves gambling or going to the physical casinos to play some games with friends after which they may deal away with their anger at the point of having that fun moment with friends. People who drinks are mostly likely to forget about what made them angered and some people may likely get drunk and sleeps whenever they woke up they no reason to ever get angered over what happened.

This advice is important besides gambling to feel less sorrow will not help rather make things look more worst especially when encountering lose same day probably the depression will definitely last in this situation. Other things productive is not even the solution rather why not talk with a therapist either online. Depression is not something anyone should joke with because at a point the state of mind will no longer think responsible for example most of them end up committing suicide, I can’t imagine a depress gambler gambling at the wrong time.
It's true that if you are depressed and decides to gamble along side, it may make things worse, it is actually really counter productive and at same time it may even worsen the situation of the gambler especially if they eventually loose further as they gamble, so it will be of good if the gambler keeps off the casino in the while  they are sad or depressed,  but here's another weird and awkward point of view, and that is in how that this thing we are all seeing to be the best solution may be therapy for some others, so at some point I don't know if it will be okay to even agree to this or not.

Many depressed gamblers view gambling as a way to ease their pain. However, in my opinion, it's not a solution; instead, it can lead to even more pain.In essence, it can lead to more pain, specifically revenge gambling, where you chase your losses.Avoid gambling when you're emotionally unstable, as you may end up regretting your actions.I struggle with depression, but I've found some coping mechanisms that help. When I'm feeling down, I try to distract myself by watching movies, reading, or spending time with friends. Engaging in hobbies can also be a great way to lift your mood. However, I firmly believe that gambling is not a healthy hobby for anyone, especially when struggling with depression.

As a gambler it's important to know how to control your emotions and discipline yourself, not just in the aspect of gambling but in every other area of life. Emotional instability caused by depression can lead to a whole lot of regretful actions. Gambling when you are having mixed emotions can cloud your judgment and also affect the decisions you make, at that point you wouldn't mind if you are losing and you can keep going till you have nothing left all under the excuse of chasing your losses. I have had some experiences where I decided to gamble when I was emotionally down and I regretted my actions. Some cases are actually a psychological issue where gamblers knowingly try to make themselves sad by ruining their financial life consciously, this is rare but it happens. Don't engage in gambling when you are depressed, if you are looking for a distraction try to do something productive instead.
Yes, it is true that in any area of life, one should learn to control and discipline one's emotions because controlling emotions and being disciplined is important for every person. Gambling should not be done in a depressed state because if gambling is for entertainment, then why should one be depressed to gamble. When a person is depressed, if he gambles, then he will definitely lose in gambling. There is a possibility of losing. I have not gambled in a depressed state on a gambling platform so far. I have always gambled in a cheerful and cheerful mood for gambling, due to which I have been able to analyze the gambling platform well and have been able to win almost most of the bets and have enjoyed every match.

I wholeheartedly agree with this. Not because one would make more money when they are not depressed, but because dopamine we get from gambling can be used as a short time fix.

And if we condition ourselves of curing bad feeling with gambling, it will end up being a costly short time medicine. Just like you shouldn't drink when you are depressed, it's only short time solution. It, like gambling costs too much money and ends up being counter-effective. And like you said, it affects your judgement and i know from experience that following budget might be harder when depressed, especially if you have self destructive feeling. Then you are set up to fail, no matter what the results of that gambling are.

The moment you sign up on a gambling platform, you’ll see the phrase "gamble responsibly." So, technically, you’re breaking the rules if you gamble while you’re depressed. The casino might not notice, but deep down, you know it. You need to understand the risks of gambling when you’re not focused as it only leads to bigger problems. You might think it will help ease the situation, but it won’t.. it’ll only make things worse.

Maybe I would say that having self-control and discipline is no longer an important thing but rather an obligation that must exist in a person, especially if they are involved in gambling, sometimes in any case emotions often lead someone to a much worse situation and well, especially if we talk about gambling which is clearly a high-risk activity and maybe I would also say that gambling in an emotional state will only make the bookie richer.

The point is that it is very important for a gambler to be smart in choosing the right time and situation for them to gamble, meaning first they must know in advance that the risk of gambling in an emotional position can potentially have a bad impact and second they must also be aware that everything that is done excessively based on various impulsive decisions without any consideration can also lead them to a very bad situation.

Gambling under depression would actually proffer some tense of negative outcomes which you would either be emotionally broken that could override your your gambling plans such as your budgets and also your patterns of gambling.

It could also derive you tons of agreesiveness with other people around you and I am sure at that moment you would not be able to accommodate intolerance .

There are better things one should be doing when they are depressed, and gambling is not one of them. When you are not in a better state of mind, gambling activities should be avoided because it can't help you in that moment, and if you lose, it will only contribute to more anger and frustration, and your gambling decisions will be biased and influenced by your mood. A game you are supposed to be enjoying will be a game you play with anger.

Gambling is not a place to nest when you’re feeling depressed, it’ll only make you to lose your money. A depressed being can make a lot of wrong choices which will definitely affect their decision in the game they’re betting on. Gambling was never meant to be a place to relax on and spend quality time doing, you should look for something else to do to shift your mindset away from depression. A lot may have done this before and the resultant of it will not be good, so instead of wanting to try it, it is better to stay away from it and make other more tangible choices when depressed.

Same goes if you are experiencing currently overjoyed or too much happiness as it could also make you forgot the high risk in gambling. Honestly, there's no perfect mood to gamble, whether you're depressed or not, still gambling losses are inevitable. So the key here is to gain discipline when gambling and gamble only on what you are comfortable of losing. That's the best way not to make you feel depressed.
In as much as people often say gambling is a fun activity, it still isn't fit to be viewed as a way to escape depression. Yes of course there is the fact that you could eventually win hitting a huge jackpot that would end up cheering you up but the big question is what are the chances of that actually happening and what if it ends up in the opposite way where you bag a huge loss?

Someone in a depressed mood will get easier irritated and such a state isn't suitable for a gambler especially because if you end up losing too much you will likely get even more depressed than before which is something to be avoided. Winning and losing should be weighed simultaneously before gambling.

I have had some experiences where I decided to gamble when I was emotionally down and I regretted my actions. .
This is a choice that is ultimately too difficult and even a bad decision to make because after all, even though gambling is always used as an excuse for us to refresh ourselves by playing casually after a week or even more doing activities such as work and others that drain energy and brains but when we are stressed and cannot think clearly in the end gambling is the same as we throw away the money we have intentionally.

When we are gambling, our thoughts must at least be more able to think clearly and that we will not be able to do when we are in a state of stress and depression because indeed our thoughts will be more branching and events that are already a sure thing where defeat can be obtained quickly can make you even more stressed than before so it is indeed a bad decision and should not be done in the first place.

You are depressed without gambling it is still a concern let alone depression together with gambling then this will cause other major problems with it is certain that emotions and self-control will not be prevented normally, gamble when you want to have fun because that's the goal we are looking for.

So I never gamble when I am angry or have problems with my family or other depression because if I lose in gambling then this will be even worse so stop gambling for a while.

After the situation normalizes and the mind calms down then gambling resumes because we don't want problems to become more complicated because of our own mistakes.

In some cases, many people experience regret when making the wrong decision when they are depressed or cannot control themselves. In gambling, self-control is also very necessary in order to avoid making the wrong decision, especially not analyzing, this will make every gambler fall and sink, and finally get more depression. So I really agree with your advice not to get involved in gambling when you are depressed, in order to prevent regret that will occur, and must be able to control yourself in every action that is being or will be done, especially in gambling.

What do you mean by high? To drink alcohol but not drunk but high? I will like to gamble during that time. Like drink alcohol but not drunk but just high.

I can also gamble when I am sick if the sickness is not that hard to the point that I will not be able to do anything.

I gamble when my head is hurt to calm it down.

Why not gamble with street hustlers if the gambler is also among them?

As for others that you mentioned, you are absolutely correct.

Depression can lead people to do things that aren’t of the ordinary so it’s best to abstain from anything that gambling related or anything that will make you make some decisions that will affect your financial life - you could be depress and try to escape depression by trying to gamble and if you should experience some losses you’ll only become too emotional and try to go against the basic principles of healthy gambling habit (gamble what you can afford to lose and don’t chase losses) which could result to you experiencing serious financial difficulties.

Anytime you feel too emotional or you have something that’s troubling your mind it’s best to read books or if you’re into gaming just go there and play some games or do anything to help you, don’t do anything that will involve your finance because it will only make things worse instead solving it as your expected it to do.

Gambling in fact quite the opposite if you don't gamble money you cannot afford to lose is a great relaxation tool when you are depressed. In order to not overdo it I only get myself some cash that I can afford to lose and go to the offline casino where I can have free drinks as long as I can spend a minimum of 10 dollars the drinks are unlimited and many people take advantage of this. The casino staff does not say anything as they know someone will lose big and will make up for this that is why I say the secret is to not get more money with you and usually I go with 50 dollars max to play and I can play a lot with the minimum bet which usually is 0.20 dollars in almost all slots and up from there depending on the slot. When I am bored having a few drinks and spinning the reels is a great distraction tool but as I said do not overdo it, only spend money you can afford to lose.

I can gamble at anytime at any condition so far I do not go against my gambling responsible habits. I have gambled when I was happy several times in the past and I lost money. Sometimes making me to chase losses and I continue to lose. If I feel like gambling and I am not happy, I will gamble so far I continue to gamble responsibly. But if I am depressed, gambling can not come my mind that time. But if I feel like gambling, I will gamble.
I doubt if we can actually gamble under any condition. There are conditions that get you overwhelmed and leave you in shock that you can't even think straight to do anything, not even to gamble. The loss of a family person dear to us is a condition capable of causing not to gamble. Except the deceased was never dear to us.

Also, It's not just about gambling responsibly. You could at anytime feel like gambling but remember it's you that get to determine if it's a right time to gamble and not allowing your feeling to gamble take control, else you might want to gamble at a time you should be engaged in some important project but because you feel like gambling at that time you decides to procrastinate on your project or task.

Gambling under depression or when depressed can be very bad. I know that feeling when we gamble with depression and when we gamblewith a free mind or stable mind. If I am to gamble, I will do it when I am less busy and free from depression because dippresion sometimes will make you to select some games we dont expect to select.

Something productive like what? Don't you know that during depression most people tend to find an escape in gambling or in alcohol? This happens often. That's why it's not too good to avoid anyone suffering depression. We should be getting close to them once we identify what they're going through. That state where the mind is distabilized isn't one anyone wants to experience.

6° NEVER play (to win) if you are: Tired, stressed, bored, angry etc etc..... There is a strong effect come from the morale of better....
That's the right thing to do ideally, to steer off,  but is that realistic? I asked because most people find it appealing to gamble when they're stressed, bored or angry.

Depression is just an emotion. Any gambler who can control his emotion can control depression. It is a compulsory that every gamble must know how to control his/her emotion, although people are most concerned about anxiety. While anxiety seems to be one type of emotions that many persons cant control other emotions like depressions and others are also something to be dealt with.

On the contrary, it doesn't mean you won't lose your money if you gamble while been happy, or neither not win if you gamble while you are depressed and lucky enough to hit a jackpot, but what  O.P and we are trying to point out here is the chance of you been carried away while gambling in a depressed state is very high, of which we all know there are 3 distinctive moments a person can easily get carried away while engaging in any activity, such as when you are drunk, Over happy or depressed, since in that state, your level of dopamine, (i.e a feel good hormones) responsible for the creation and transmission of a sense of pleasure and satisfaction to the brain. Because anybody can get lucky anytime, it doesn't matter of you are happy or not.
Exactly. Emotions dont determine if we lose or we win. It only pushes for gamblers to make impulsive decisions. However impulsive decisions can lead to addictions and so many consequences. Lets be guided too.

When the mood is good, that's when a good time to gamble. Gambling is prohibited when emotions are unstable because it has an effect on things that make people vulnerable to disadvantages.
Not only when depression, gambling is also not good to do by people who experience certain diseases. Gambling is something that is done by normal people from all aspects, from economic aspects to psychological aspects.
Actually this discussion is familiar to me crossed the forum.

First, you should know that everyone is not the same and some persons are not gambling for profit, those that are gambling for the aim of making profit in order to make a living, they should not gamble when they are depressed but people that doesn't take gambling as a source of income can gamble even when they are depressed and they will not spend more than they budgeted and they will not also allow their losses to affect them.
The title of this thread is misleading and means direct opposites of what we should be saying here, although I don't blame the newbies since he may have failed to understand the fundamental purpose of gambling.

Most time some of them take gambling to mean real business and not fun, but in the real sense, gambling is for entertainment and that when you are depressed gambling for entertainment can get you off that mood.

Having a low budget for gambling can help you avoid overthinking when and if the game goes against you at some point.

How about the concept considers gambling for fun and entertainment i think we have been discuss about this plenty although this is not generally but for some people by doing a gamble it can makes their level of depression decreases so usually these people are not aiming to win from gambling because what they want are enjoyed their gambling activities so losing a few dollars in gambling is fine for these people as long as they can forget about their problems when gambling
It might decrease your depression if you keep winning in any fun games, but if you keep losing without winning, it might spike your depression higher. That is not a good solution for depression.

However, like your said it still depends on what game you play, and if you are not alone playing the game, sometimes you can enjoy the game without the taste of winning. If you play with your friends or close family, it may help to minimize your depression because what you need in this situation is someone with a good listener to your problem or the reason you became depressed. Discussing with someone while gambling will help minimize your depressions.
A totally different thing on which at the time that you are losing money then depression do add up or keeps on piling up and this will really be that even more stressful. Just like on what others been saying that if you are really that being depressed by other things and been added up with other things as well then you will be that definitely be having that kind of even more depression and this is why its not really that recommended that you do really that make yourself dealing up with gambling if you are really that having that kind of mentality on which you will be trying out to gamble out because you are trying to release that depression on which instead on taking it away, it will be gotten even more worst.

Dont gamble when you are indeed depressed on which at the time that you will be losing then it will be that making things even more problematic. It is really that important that you should be that sensible into the actions that you are making because if you will be that too just numb on how things works then you will be finding it to be that giving out that negative impact. Just like on what others been saying that there are other activities on which you can really be able to deal with and you can ease out that depression and will be able to save it up instead on making it worst. People will really be having that kind of mentality on which they are believing that gambling could entertain them.

I highly agree, people who are depressed are not psychologically and emotionally stable.  Engaging in gambling while depressed can highly trigger an addiction.  A person who is depressed thinks that he is trying to escape his situation but unknowingly trapping himself into addiction.

Besides the mind being numb because of depression, a person may not have a feeling of control over his decision and may possibly gamble more than what he can afford to lose and may not feel the lost until later when he recollected his thoughts.  This is the same thing as engaging in gambling while drunk or intoxicated, except that being depressed has a consequence of relying to gambling more to escape thus resulting to continuous gambling that may lead to gambling addiction.

I think gambling does not decrease depression.  It is only a short-term distraction but in reality the depression is still there.  Gambling may relieve stress but stress and depression are two different thing.  One need to fix the source of depression in order to decrease it, while gambling can't fix the source of depresion, worst it can even make depression even worse due to financial losses that can lead to financial ruins which will add more burden to the person resulting to a deeper feeling of guilt and feeling of uselessnes.

Don't gamble when you are depressed. Don't gamble when you are sad. Don't gamble when you are happy. Whenever you are experiencing very high or very low emotions, do not gamble. The emotions may be possible or negative.

Then when should one gamble, under moderate emotions? What can be called moderate emotions, when one is not too happy and not too sad at the same time, is that what you actually mean?

Anyways, it's important to know yourself and what makes you think about gambling when some certain emotions rise in you, some people picks up their funds and deposit it into their betting account whenever they are bored, alone and get themselves busy predicting. Boredom is a situations that get you to start thinking and doing about what you are addicted to, that's why it's always best to distract yourself from boredom because you can start doing whatever you were running away from.

Seeing your experience is indeed not a good thing for our development in gambling, choosing to gamble when we are having problems will make what we do become something bad or have bad output, let alone talking about gambling which easily provokes our emotions or psychology, doing work can also result in poor performance when we are depressed, therefore, do not gamble at all when our condition has problems, whatever it is that makes us depressed, it is better to calm down first because that is the most effective solution than doing something that has a very large possibility of bad output.

Gambling when down/sad will make you lose more because any decisions you make that moment is based on your emotions. It's better to engage on productive activities instead of gambling when depressed or sad. A gambler that continues gambling when said or depressed will chase loss. If noticed you you are gambling excessively you seek for gamble advise before becomes to late.

Some people might think otherwise. When people see gambling as a source of entertainment it could be a mains to come out of depression. Some people might consume alcohol, watch sports games or even take a long work to overcome depression.

The only dangers of using gambling as an escape from the feeling of depression are over-gambling or losing chasing. Losing more than one can afford to bear might increase the depression. One might become more angry after a big loss. As long as the gambler can control his emotions and finances, gambling when depressed is recommended. At least it is better than consuming excessive alcohol, being violent or even considering suicide when depressed.

So, in what state should you gamble? In a neutral state? With cold calculation? But then it won't be entertainment anymore? It will become a kind of work: a continuous routine with only one goal to increase your deposit. After all, some gamblers play for the sake of enjoying the process, but what kind of fun can there be if you have to play focused and calculated. Of course, emotions will be unnecessary in achieving the goal (profit in gambling), but if you play to distract yourself from negative thoughts, can it be so bad? It seems to me that any activity can be "good" if you devote only some time to it (not full time) and only part of your deposit, as in the case of gambling. So the conclusion suggests itself that even with depression, you can devote a little time (and money) to gambling. You just don't need to have high expectations for the jackpot, but play for the sake of the process and fun. Because gambling is not only about losses, but also about wins, which can give positive emotions when this is not enough (during depression). The main thing is to set yourself a time limit and a deposit (for losing or winning).

Many games require focus, where to stand, the order of moves, in short, if you want to play a good game, you must be focused.
Since losing is not fun, it would be the best decision to avoid gambling or playing games during such tired or emotionally problematic periods.
I have experienced it a few times, I gambled when I was in a bad mood and my emotions got worse afterwards, so I conditioned myself to stay away from such an emotional moment, I am careful not to do it.

Anyone doing anything whenever they are depressed usually isn't in the right state of mind at that point because they will be blinded by their emotions to make decisions in a hurry without analyzing it properly whether it will favor them or not. That's the reason, why people are told not to do anything at the point when they are depressed, they should be allowed their bad mood to slide before doing anything.

Gambling when depressed doesn't usually lead to losses because you as a gambler will be after your losses, and your finances keep getting low and low without having money to save.

And why not its a coping mechanism? There's a saying we should gamble for fun and to be entertained, and casinos promote themselves as an entertainment platform, so its ok to gamble when you're depressed, stressed, or feel lonely as long as you are not trying to make money while gambling in depression and you're motivation is to ease up the depression you are feeling. Depression can be replaced by another feeling if we fully emerge from it.

It is true and I believe that when you gamble during depression you get emotional and it becomes very difficult to control yourself. When someone is not depressed, money management works in him and when money management is not working in him, no matter how rich he is, he will not be able to hold on to his wealth. Many people gambled during their depression and drunkenness and then they made huge losses. A gambler must always take care of these things if he does not want to suffer financially
Not to everyone, some people gamble better when they are depressed. Our emotions might have nothing to do with how we gamble, how and when we gamble can even become what to cheer us out from certain depression. Depressions at different level, majorly stress can be treated while gambling but financially dealing with depression becomes very wrong to gamble in such a state, the mind will be controlled by excessive want of profits and the gambler may not know how to control his emotions causing a more severe loss.

Drunkenness' is a whole different level, the gambler is totally not in control of his mind, what ever he does at that moment isn't important, everything he does are not coming from right senses and are unthoughtful, anyone high on any substance should avoid any activity that requires spending money.

When a person is depressed, he can decide to engage in any activity to lift his spirit and brighten his mood. I don't think gambling should be excluded from the list of those things one can do to be happy, as long as he would be gambling with a conscious mind and with a sense of responsibility. I only advocate that people do not gamble when they are drunk or in a very foul mood that would trigger them to make some decisions they would regret later.

People are different, so also what they are capable of. Anyone who makes impulsive decisions when depressed should not gamble. Those who can handle their emotions have no issues with gambling during this period.

Whether it is with gambling or any other things, don't do thing when you are at this state of being depressed. It will only result to trouble. Believe me, there's nothing good that will come out of it when you are out of your mind. So, it's much of a damage in gambling if someone is going to gamble at this state and likes to throw and burn money easily. Many cases are like that and many have foreseen how it goes when they're carefree and doesn't think correctly before they gamble. It feels that it's an actual gamble to them when they're already gambling with their money, it's an idiom.

well if you ask me about the perfect time to gamble, i can't really tell because most people will say they prefer gambling when they are depressed to ease their stress, and others don't like gambling when they are depressed, which is vise versa as the case may be. i will say each an every individual that gambles know the exact time that suits them. if you don't like gambling during depression then others will like it. for me i gamble at my free time .

Gambling is stressful in most cases and it’s very hard to avoid that even if you are just having fun since any lose bet can give you mini stress that stacks as the losing streak line up badly.

I’m against on gambling when we are not emotional ready since gambling is a form of entertainment that has a side effect that can increase the depression if you experience worst on your casino games.

Gambling is perfect activity if you are just killing time or want to have fun because you are in the good mood.
For those who had been saying that gambling is really just that something that good for fun but we cant be able to deny that losing money is really that stressful and there's no way that you can be able to make yourself to enjoy when you are on a losing state and even if you are telling that you are doing gambling for fun but on the moment that you are on such condition then it will be that on different situation or condition that you are into. There's no way that you can be able to avoid on not to get stressed even on how experienced your are. Losing money is never been that enjoyable or entertaining and this is why on the time that you are on the verge of series of loses then you will be definitely becoming that impulsive. It is really just that normal since we are just humans and we do love money and once we do lose money then we do lose up that cool and emotion control. If you are stressed then gambling isnt the only way If you wanted to ease out that kind of stress then you can have other options like going to mall, doing shopping, doing some sports you do love or any other hobbies on which you do really wanted or something that you do interested into. Dont make gambling to be that thing that easing out that kind of stress because on the moment that you do lose money, then it might that making things even more worst and the bad thing is that you do end up on having some impulsive approach on which you might be ending up on spending up even more and losing even more and  that will be adding up in your overall stress and might be leading up into more serious emotional damage.

If you want to play gambling you must need to make sure that yourself is already ready with the things might happen, if play gambling that you are not have a self conscious possible you might commit a decision that you might gives you a regret because its just a one mistake that can ruin your life. Depression is a serious matter tons of people have a problem with that and we need to acknowledge so if you know someone has it better to stay away them here because its gambling there's a money involve and tons of people sees the gambler as entertainment and a figure of fun but this might gives them an addiction as part of their coping mechanism to their depression and gives more risk into them.

On the contrary, I can gamble, and sometimes I do when I'm depressed; the adrenaline rush pushes out the depression I'm feeling.
But I need to understand that I'm gambling not for money and only to forget what causes my depression. I agree that if you are gambling for money and you are depressed, that's the easiest way to lose your money, as it will cloud your judgement trying to win. Casinos are entertainment portals. If you are stressed, challenge yourself in a crash game and see the adrenaline rush that will make you forget your stress.

but a process whereby you gamble to to survive and you gamble with borrowed money it's conditions that make people to be depressed....and these always affects the new gamblers because what they had in mind to participate in gambling is to make wins....you're an experienced gamblers.

Losing a certain huge amount of money is capable of getting a player depressed. At the lowest rate of imagination gamblers also get weak over series of losses and the seight or knowledge of other gamers winning and they're not, which makes, some, to feel left behind. As regards to their thoughts and feelings they'll want to prove themselves worthy of hitting goals that may not be possible.

If the depression was as a result of lose of money in gambling their is no need for one to think of to gamble because if one is unlucky to win it can cause the state of depression to be even worse. If gambling is the cause why one is unhappy and depressed,  it is just advisable to quit gambling for the moment but if gambling is not the cause of one to be unhappy and depressed it is still possible for one to gamble.

We all are not the same, the way we all react to things may be in different ways, but we need to give attention to our emotions and to decide what to do. If we think gambling in depression or with emotions whether this feeling is caused by gambling or not and it will affect one or make things become worse if eventually one loses, it is better not to gamble with feeling of depression.

When I stress, I choose not to playing gambling because that can makes me lose control easily. I prefer to take a rest or just sleep to relax myself and that is works good for me. Playing gambling when you are stress will just give a bad effect so you need to be careful.

Stress can make us unstable in emotion and can trigger the problem to comes to us. So if we feels tired or stress, it is better we calm down ourselves first and take a deep breath before we thinks.

If you depressed, you need to figure out how and why that happen to you so you can thinks and search for the ways to solve the problem. You can ask a help from people around you so they can search how to solve your problem. That will give you more chances to get the right.

There's always the factor of a vengeful mentality and that's what most gambling places are targeting. They want you to be out of control so that you will gamble more until you deplete your wallet, your savings, and even the last penny that you have been saving because it's a rare one.
Those kinds of things do happen, pawning cars, houses, and titles, and some even sell their properties just to keep their gambling habit. So, a depressed person will have more reasons to do that because he has nothing to lose anymore.
I say a friend, a family member, or a relative should keep in touch with that person so he won't make decisions that ain't controllable anymore. You cannot tell a depress person to avoid gambling directly because he won't listen.

No matter how we try to argue it, because sometimes as human beings, we find it hard to accept the situation. Once we act like we are immune to it, knowing and unknowingly it's affecting our decision making. When you are in a losing streak, your emotions are bound to be on the downside and for whatever reasons, maybe from even your full time job or family or other things that happen, your emotions might be on the downside.

And when you bring it into gambling, there is a high possibility of shifting into irresponsible gambling. You see, I'd advice to take a pause, take a break because you are not thinking straight. Gambling is a game of luck, but when you go with messed emotions, you are bound to make more mistakes. So I will just advise that when you are feeling really down, just stay away. Till you you are thinking straight to play your games or make your best. Let's not self deceive.

Gambling when you are having mixed emotions can cloud your judgment and also affect the decisions you make, at that point you wouldn't mind if you are losing and you can keep going till you have nothing left all under the excuse of chasing your losses.
I believe you are just saying this because you are not a gambler, because if you were, you would know that even if you are in your right state of mind, you can still make some rational decisions that would make you lose your bet and also chase your losses. Sometimes gambling when you are depressed can help you make decisions that would help you win your bet because at that point you will not be afraid to pick your favorite clubs to win, which can possibly work out for you. For you not to chase your losses, you need to have a gambling plan and stick to it whenever you want to gamble so that it will help you to know your limit and stop gambling when you have reached your limit.

Gambling when you are depressed is not the right thing to do, because gambling is your comforter. If you try it, you will end up in addiction and worsen your situation. When you are depressed, you need someone to console you by talking to you. One should only gamble during your leisure time, because excessive gambling can lead to depression after several big losses.

It's quite psychological to chose bad options when you are emotionally unstable. We tend to make bad decisions in depression and gambling is not prone to it.
It's easy to say not to gamble during depression but it's not that easy to control ourselves during depression.
I have once been through depression but fortunately I was not much into gambling back then.
The only thing that helped me during depression was meditation as it calmed my mind which further helped me to recover from the depression faster.
I would advice everyone feeling depressed or sad to meditate daily and see it's benefits in days.

If you're emotionally high or low on a regular basis then you probably need to stay away from gambling period as you will probably throw yourself into major depression once the high wears off, or go deeper into depression while the low is happening. Gambling is a bif roller coaster with lots of highs and lows and you need to be emotionally stable to handle it properly.

I agree, not only if you are depressed, also if you are sad or tired, anything other than being in as emotionally neutral a state as possible. And if you are a person who tends to get carried away by emotions, the best thing you can do is stay away from gambling.

Not the right time if we ourselves are experiencing depression and gambling, in general, in my opinion gambling can affect our emotions and when we are in a state of depression then even spele things can make our emotions peak so I don't think it should be when we are Depression does gambling, maybe it's better to find other things that are more minimal because gambling in my opinion is a big enough risk.
Besides gambling involves self -control, and I'm sure you know about this. A person who is in a good condition can experience excessive emotions, and as the saying goes to prevent better than cure, so it's better not to do gambling when our situation is not okay or other words is when depressed. Gambling when in a state of depression maybe it has the opportunity to make us even more depressed and it is terrible.

The points do not apply to all gamblers at all. I do not want to exclude certain moments of gambling. I go to gamble when I feel like I can gamble now, but when I am mentally ill or unable to make good decisions, I prefer to refrain from gambling. Sometimes I gamble to relieve frustration or to calm down, but refrain from gambling at the moment when you cannot control yourself. There is nothing wrong with gambling in times of frustration or happiness, but if you have the possibility of being uncontrollable, it is better for you to refrain from gambling. You can lose everything by gambling at such times.

Are there gamblers who play at the casino who are depressed? It seems like such a scenario is difficult if evwr really has such a problem. All I've experienced is that when I have a lot of thoughts or worries, I just temporarily get through them by playing gambling at the casino.

But I've never gambled when I was depressed, because usually when you're depressed, your feelings are uncontrollable, so you don't care if you win or lose, like that.

Try to understand sentence by sentence, I made it coherent there. I said that I had no regrets when I first lost it all, but as time went by & I was no longer depressed, I realized that what I had done was stupid. Don't want to debate, because I believe it would be an endless debate.

There are people who bet solely for the adrenaline of seeing their teams triumph, and not to make money. They get distracted watching the games, and this can be beneficial for them as it helps them escape problems and negative thoughts. Therefore, I don't think it's bad in all cases, as long as they don't have gambling addiction issues or haven't had them in the past.

Gambling is very closely related to mental health. The results will greatly affect each other. In general, gambling can cause stress, anxiety, emotional, depression, and other mental health problems. Well, if gambling in normal conditions can be risky, what about when you are depressed, wouldn't it be much riskier?

And I agree with some of the contents of the article that I have read, that we should avoid gambling when we are depressed. The reasons are as follows:
  • - Emotional rollercoaster, yes, our emotions are certainly very unstable and uncontrolled.
  • - Bad decision making, a depressed brain will not produce wise and good decisions, it will actually end up in a hurry, panic, and bad.
  • - More stressful, instead of getting better, we are more likely to become more stressed and depressed, even worse

and finally, the risk of losing money will be much higher.

engage in gambling when you are depressed, if you are looking for a distraction try to do something productive instead.
If gambling is your escape route from depression, you would gamble lots, lose a lot in the process, and even become more depressed. Finding other activities that are more associative can help ease the burden of depression.

Depression can be best handled when you have someone to talk to.

Choosing gambling as medicine for depression can lead to suicidal thoughts because gambling on it's own has been a root cause for the depression some individuals have faced. Deciding to now make something that can be a cause of depression, a cure for depression, will not yield a good outcome.

For a good gambler, there may be no problem controlling their gambling time according to their emotions and conditions. But for addicted gamblers, I think it will be difficult to have such control. No matter the state of being depressed because of depression or certain problems, when they want to gamble then they will do it.
The result may be worse because the gambler will continue to think about the pressure they get. But is it possible that the condition of being depressed with a problem and the gambler seeks pleasure to forget his problems for a moment with gambling?

I can gamble at anytime at any condition so far I do not go against my gambling responsible habits. I have gambled when I was happy several times in the past and I lost money. Sometimes making me to chase losses and I continue to lose. If I feel like gambling and I am not happy, I will gamble so far I continue to gamble responsibly. But if I am depressed, gambling can not come my mind that time. But if I feel like gambling, I will gamble.

Can you gamble if you strongly want to pee and you stuck in a traffic jam? Cheesy Anyway, it was just a joke, dont take it serious. I also can gamble in any condition when I feel like I want to. If OP suggest not to gamble when depressed, what about those who gamble to kill depression and have fun? What about having a moment when a win changes your mood. Disagree with OP suggestion. Gambling is situational.

Finally I decided to gamble non-stop, no matter how much I lost in each session, I kept making deposits to vent my frustration. In a few days I finally lost about $ 6000, at first I didn't regret my actions

I really relate to the topic you made, it happened a few years ago when I thought that I was not worthy of love because I was dumped by my girlfriend even though our relationship had been going on for 7 years & almost got married. But all those hopes were gone, I was looking for money for the purpose of marriage, after I was dumped I didn't think that money was no longer important because my main objective in finding all that money was gone.

Finally I decided to gamble non-stop, no matter how much I lost in each session, I kept making deposits to vent my frustration. In a few days I finally lost about $ 6000, at first I didn't regret my actions, but over time I realized that I had done something stupid because I was depressed.

but do you know that many gamblers out there gamble when they are depressed? it is like their way to relieve their depression and to pass the time. so even though it is not recommended to gamble when you are depressed, but if the person is able to be responsible for what they do it is actually not a problem at all, and it can even help them to distract themselves from their problems for a while.
Many people confuse depression with apathy. With deep depression, a person is unlikely to have enough strength to bury himself even further in gambling. Systematic losses will only drive a person into depression; this is rather one of the aspects. Without the support of loved ones or a specialist, it is very difficult to get out of there and it takes a lot of time; this is not a cold that will pass in a week.

Don't gamble when depressed
That's for sure, depression is not a good solution for carrying out gambling activities, where your mental health is disturbed, clearly your mood and thoughts are uncomfortable when carrying out activities, sometimes many of us continue to force ourselves to gamble, even though the mood and mind are in a state of depression, obviously it will be fatal to experience real losses for them.

Gambling is done when the mood and mind are calm, it will add real points to those involved in the gambling arena, for that reason we often hear people mention gambling for fun, maybe that's part of it, depression is not part of the fun, of course gambling when depressed is a real disaster for them.

Yeah you are right, one needs to be in the right state of mind when predicting a game, however it all depends on the kind of person you are, for some people there emotional state those not affect prediction, so if you know your emotional state always affect your prediction then don't predict when ever you are depressed, frustrated or in pain but if your emotional state don't matter for you then you can predict,
People who will never see there emotional state as something that can affect there prediction is those who see gambling as a game of luck, because they predict game without research or thinking about the best prediction to use in other to win, all they do is to select games randomly and predict what ever that comes to there mind, but those that do proper research and calculation will never predict a game when there emotional state is damaged, reasoning being that they won't think well anymore there brain won't be in the right state for research, so I will advise you do what ever works well for you.

Don't gamble when you are depressed. Don't gamble when you are sad. Don't gamble when you are happy. Whenever you are experiencing very high or very low emotions, do not gamble. The emotions may be possible or negative.

Some cases are actually a psychological issue where gamblers knowingly try to make themselves sad by ruining their financial life consciously, this is rare but it happens. Don't engage in gambling when you are depressed, if you are looking for a distraction try to do something productive instead.
This is like comfort eating. Where you eat glutonnosly becuase you are heart broken. Another people are those who do impulse buying because for the same reason. This happens eventhough rarely as it is not reported but is happens. They just want to finish up their savings until they stop. If their savings are not reduced, they won't stop gambling. And it leads to deeper depression.

You gambling activities should not be linked with your feelings or emotions.

Gamble with the brain and not with the heart... When we become emotional players things will never end fine because we are wagering based in a "Good feeling", and if we have the feeling that a good win is getting close but it never comes, then we can get on a deep hole.

When we are depressed gambling or drinking is a terrible option and we should stay away from those two bad habits until we feel better.

When I was new to gambling, I lost money, but I regretted it a lot and decided to remove myself from gambling. But later, although I collected money and entered gambling, I learned to adopt some strategies temporarily and thus gradually gained some experience. However, there was regret for losing money, but I drank my alcohol with my friends so that I could stay away from the regret of losing it.
This was a big incident in my life, from which I learned the techniques of keeping my mind calm, when I enter gambling, I divide the money into several parts and gamble with a part of it. And whenever I face losses in one or two games, I immediately withdraw from gambling and retire.

Yeah thats right. Only those who gamble depress end up in a bad situation. Normally some people got depress more when they are playing since they needed money for their own used. People should learn to keep money for gambling separately from their everyday funds or emergency fund to avoid such situation like they needed to borrow and use it to gamble. I known a lot with this kind of problems.

All kinds of games demands being focused. Being less concerned with our choices will only take up more money from our pockets when gambling. For instance, the problem gamblers are classified under mentally disordered people which could originate through depression. Caused by constant losses in the casino, as a result of no self consciousness in all sessions.

I don’t see the point on why will someone choose gambling when they are depressed instead of doing something nice physically since that’s the perfect way to counter depression instead of fueling it with gambling losses.

Gambling is known as one of the culprit for depression since losers can’t handle the emotion when losing money.
It would really be bad to gamble if depressed but if you know what you are doing, gambling might help the depression.

But first thing is to know what is causing the depression. If it is losses from the gambling that is causing depression, it would be bad for such person to go back to gamble and lose more and become more depressed.

But if the depression is cause by something else which is not related to gambling and you have been gambling responsibly, you can use $20 to gamble. It can be $0.05 that you will begin the gambling with and not go further than $0.05 to each rounds and also be expecting losses after long time game play.

But if you are the type that lose more after losing, it is better you stay away from gambling. If you have not gambled before, it is not good to think of gambling to cure the depression.

Also there are some depression that you just do not need to do anything but hope for a better day to come in a way that it will naturally cure itself after some hours or days.

If you have delved into the benefits of gambling,  probably you may get to understand why this may not apply to some other gamblers,  some gamblers out there actually gamble to lift their spirit when they are down a d at that point it doesn't matter to them if they are loosing or not, provided they get engaged in it since it's something they loved doing,  just like an addiction,  a smoker smokes even more when they are emotionally down without a second taught of what the effect could be, same applies to a drug addict, so I see that there are some relativity to this point although it's a good advice as gambling at vulnerable Conditions ruins much more than it uplifts.

Absolutely correct judgment. Moreover, I recently heard the words "don't promise if you are happy, don't take seriously someone who is very sad". The general meaning is that every person makes absolutely rational decisions if he is in complete internal balance.
If someone is depressed, then most likely he will not think about money management or that for the money spent he will have to live frugally, or be indebted to someone.
