Grammarly is useful in correcting your use of grammar, and helps perfect that which you already have an idea of. To really expand your English vocabulary you would need to take learning classes, or regularly converse in English language.

On the contrary, Grammarly can also help you expand your English Vocabulary and even get a clear definition of any difficult words that you may come across the forum without you having to go through online English dictionaries. All you have to do is double-click on the word you don't understand and a definition, brief description and explanation will be displayed with links to external sites if you want to learn more about it.

Here is an example, I clicked on the word Nonsensical and this is what I got... I have most certainly added the word preposterous in my vocabulary.

What matters most is your mindset towards learning something and practice. I could still go for learning classes and come out with bad English.

Grammarly is a good tool for editing and perfecting ones English especially when one isn't a native speaker. Using the premium version is fantastic.
This is not the best way to start of your stay in the forum mate the OP has just made  a great post and you can just ready through and pick out useful information making a reaffirming reply is likely to be a spam

There are a lot of crypto related words that come up as spelling errors on my browser.  Even crypto has an incorrect spelling marker underneath it.
You are correct about several cryptocurrency terms, slant and words that is not recognize by it so it marks it as red but there are option to add it to the app so that it recognises it next time

I don't like Grammarly - even the name jars with me. Also, it's primarily American, and that is a colloquial subset of English.

I’m too not a huge fan of grammarly as at times it does more good than harm, but each one has his preferences and they can stick to it. I wonder how many newbies will take the the effort to first write a post here, then submit to grammarly and then come back again and post here?. Also just a heads up in the free version they’ll happily show you the errors, but not the solution so good luck to all who follow.

While stuck at local board because of lacking the experience to express your opinions in English language, he/she can start using both local language and english like Thaiglish, Spanglish, Taglish and more.
Hmm, so you mean that it is okay to use combination of Spanish and English words (just an example) in a single post when posting outside the local board? If yes then I don't think it would be a great idea because it will definitely create confusion on some of its readers since not all of us can understand Spanish.

This would help.

I have this app before installed in my computer but I notice my PC's performance is slowly deteriorating, so I decided to remove it.
I used it when writing reports in the past, but not in this forum because I believe anyone can understand my english writing
though it's not my native language also.

Maybe those who are very poor in English should try this app.

Here's a friendly advice for those who struggle, if you are really not comfortable in constructing English compositions then don't push yourself because insisting to do so might leads you to get nothing but bad experience coming from bashers out there. So stay in your local board for the meantime, study English lessons and come back to the international boards once you're ready.
It's not hard to find ENGLISH LESSONS in the internet actually, there are lots of lessons we can find whether it's Ebook for reading, videos on youtube and more. While stuck at local board because of lacking the experience to express your opinions in English language, he/she can start using both local language and english like Thaiglish, Spanglish, Taglish and more.

Yup! Checking your post before posting it is very necessary. Reading your post repeatedly after you wrote is an effective way of checking
Without one crosschecking his or her post before posting, then such member is liable to making typo errors, due to either trying to type fast or phone predictor wrongly changing some words, its appropriate to read before posting, and even after posting,if errors are detected, its good to edit and correct such mistakes.
Though coherency remains the most important, but it's advisable to make it easier for your readers to understand what's going on in your mind

Well, it should be check all the spellings and grammars before posting right?
Yup! Checking your post before posting it is very necessary. Reading your post repeatedly after you wrote is an effective way of checking because it does not only help you to find grammatical and technical errors of your post but also helps you to figured out whether your post sounds pleasing or rude to other members (it is important to maintain the good impression of other members to you).

Does a small typos can turn your post into a shitpost? My opinion is not
I agree. For me, a post with mispelled words, few wrong grammar and wrong use of punctuations is not considered a shitpost, the off topic one does. As long as I can understand his point then everything is fine with me and besides we can request for a clarification if we're confused right?

Does a small typos can turn your post into a shitpost? My opinion is not all of typos can turn your post into a shitpost.

Again you're misunderstanding my replies. I give you credits for trying to help (check the very first reply on thread) all I'm saying is,  you aren't the first user who has seen this problem and tried to solve it. In fact like I said earlier, jet cash dedicated his time to solving this same issue, he even created a forum just for them but no they didn't show interest. The issue isn't writing topic on how to resolve their bad english problem but are they willing to learn? because anyone willing to improve their english has the whole web to assist them.

Google Chrome comes with its own spell checker. You can turn it on or off. Works probably the same way as Grammarly. If you spell something wrong it will underline that word in red. If your right click on the word, google will suggest the correct word/words.

To enable it click on the three dots in the top right corner >  Settings > Click on Advanced at the bottom of the page >  Scroll down to Languages, select the language you want Google to spellcheck.
If you click on Spell check you will be happy to see English (United Kingdom) on the list  Wink

And now every time you spell something wrong you get this:

Another issue the community is facing is the misinterpretation of sentences. I didn't say you say that. I was just letting them know your english must not be like that of the queen before you can write a topic, as far we can understand it you're good.

Perhaps, you are the one misunderstanding the whole point of this post, check yourself before you just conclude randomly.
The purpose of this post is to give an easy and hustle-free alternative to those whose posts and articles are sometimes ruined by a sea of spelling mistakes and to some extent grammar and not;
- Bashing anyone for not knowing enough of the English language
- Discouraging those whose native language is not English from posting in English.
So your reply is completely off the rail here.

I doubt that even a post without any grammatical errors but has low in substance will still be counted as a meritable post.
Haven't you seen shitposts or posts with no content receiving merit yet?  Grin
Topics like How to write a meritable post have been discussed here countless times that why I didn't mention anything about merit. I was just talking about an assistant that can help one clear up some of those spelling and grammar mistakes which one may not be aware of

The majority of low/null value posts are so really due to their content, and no so much because of their grammar, with which one can be more belligerent providing the content is decent enough.

Of course it’s when both of these features collude on a post, and that is rather common, that it gets a shower of adverse qualifying adjectives which overspill onto the author, and get stuck to him/her/it for the times to come.

Indeed, We also have coolcryptovator (I think, if I'm not mistaken- correct me if I'm wrong) which is not really good at grammar for the reason English isn't his mother language just like me. But the way he can provide a good content is a big points though. It's just an individual's perception on the  topic. Even if sometimes we failed to look into our spellings this isn't a way to judge that it is already a shitpost.

Still, you have a good suggestion there, I will also try that out.

I doubt that even a post without any grammatical errors but has low in substance will still be counted as a meritable post. If you look at people who are not receiving merits their posts mostly contains off topic ideas which means even if they are grammatically correct they still won't receive anything. In order for you to even receive any merits in the first place you must always be on point is what you are saying as well as it needs to be relatable in the topic, remember substance is what being looked here not the spelling.

Well It isn't a must to write (speak english) like the queen of England but as far your readers can understand what you're saying then you're good.  J
Agree, its good enough. Problem starting when most often new users starting topic with half english half different language and you must guess what he wanted to say/ask etc.
This is really problematic but some people really can't yet communicate in english. Correcting grammar won't help there and this is biggest problem by me.

Hoewever (<-- D:), maybe it will aid some in stepping up their english skills? Smiley

Great work JeromeTash,

Many newbies here don't know some basic way to make there post more grammar error-free, it's not every time the problems about the English vocabulary but sometimes there are many typing mistakes or simple grammar which makes an informative post look shady looking and hard to read. Your guide could help many of them to improve the posts with the help of online tool Grammarly and I think it is a very positive approach. Keep it up Wink

Grmmarly also do not ensure proper grammar. It is only useful for spelling correction. When it comes about gammar, grammarly provides poor grammar. I sometimes used it but now I do not use it anymore.

Bitcointalk also comes up as a spelling error... those are the kind of words alongside so many crypto related jargons that you just ignore or add to your dictionary

Good effort OP.  Just hopping they take your advice because most of them never do.

And why is that? Because most of them are in the forum just for bounties and don't even care about the rest. There are some bounty hunters with real knowledge on the blockchain and what they are talking about but most of them sadly aren't. I see this on the telegram channels as well. There are some people asking for information on stakes calculation or bounty distribution with a Google Translate English level. Some of them even give out the details on their position on the Google spreadsheet and with a little research you can find out they do blog writing campaign in English, so I wonder: how go they write a 500 words article in perfect English?
You understand where I'm going with this

Some of the users here make good articles but one of the biggest let downs is the spelling mistakes and grammar which end up ruining an excellent article.
They can't be blamed because just like me, English is not their native language.

They can't be blamed because just like me, English is not their native language.

However, I did try to reduce on the challenge of grammar and spelling mistakes using an addon know as Grammarly. This addon is available on Firefox, Chrome, and Safari. Other Firefox and chromium based browser like Brave, Tor e.t.c should be able to install this addon without any challenge.
Even while using a free version of this addon, one can be able to make a very big difference in the posts one makes.

How to Install Grammarly.

  • You can get it on your browser by visiting the official link: https://grammarly.com on a supported browser. You will be able to view a button to download it as shown below

Note: Avoid downloading directly from google searches or browser extension stores without carefully looking at the site to determine if it's the genuine link. This can save you from downloading fake web browser extensions that could compromise your security

  • After downloading the extension, a green round button with a rounded arrow inside it should be visible in the extension bar, Click on it and sign up for a free account
    when you sign up, you will be able to;
    - Save your work and access it from any other computer
    - Save your personal dictionary
    - Choose the preferred sites you would love Grammarly to access

How to use Grammarly

  • Once you have signed up and set it up, you can now start your post writing or commenting using the browser. As you write, green underlines will appear below each word that has a spelling error or a number of words that have grammatical issues and a green circle or sometimes just a dot will appear at the bottom right side of the text box showing the number of errors you have made so far.

You can either correct each mistake by hovering your mouse over the underlined area, Grammary will pop up a word or punctuation suggestion which you can click on and it gets instantly corrected

or you can just click on the green circle or dot to make all the corrections. An expanded window will appear. Click on the " ^ " symbol to see a detailed suggestion and click on the " x " symbol to ignore.

That is it,  with this you should be able to improve your article/post quality. It may not be 100% but it will be much better. Maybe 80% to 90% better quality than your initial article/post quality.
There is also a premium version but I think the free version should be enough unless one really wants to go further and pay for the premium.

Disclaimer:This is not any sort of advert for the Grammarly add-on. this post is just intended for educational purposes on how forum members can improve on their written english
