I don't mind seeing signatures, I mind seeing the low quality posts that come with them.

That's it in a nutshell. I find the signatures here pretty low key and tune them out. Other forums can be a flat out sensory assault in comparison.

If someone's knocked up some code to hide sigs, perhaps there's a way of auto ignoring posts that are in a nominated campaign too. The Yobit affair certainly would've made something like that useful I knew someone was in it before even checking the sig.

I actually find the signatures helpful.  Some campaigns are managed so well we can thank the campaign managers for filtering out all the spammers.  A signature from one of those is a good indicator the post is worth reading.  And obviously, the opposite can also be true.

Oh wow! I didn't know we had the option of turning off those annoying signatures.

Thanks OP!

I like the idea of being able to turn off signatures, but I will keep them on so that I know which users to ignore. That way I don't see signatures and I don't see posts by members of signature campaigns.
Well, not all members who wear the Signature, have bad posting quality. If we ignore all the posts by those members who are wearing the signatures, we might miss many good posts too.  I think having signature should not be a determining factor for a high / Low quality poster. There may be few spammers whom we may put on ignore list, irrespective of whether they wear signature or not.

I don't ignore all users with signatures -- just members of signature campaigns. ciao!

I believe that it is not necessary to reinvent the wheel. The forum has clear rules that regulate the activities of participants. After reading the posts of participants and signatures that they wear, you can immediately get an opinion about the person and decide whether to deal with him.  I've always had a negative attitude towards people who carry signatures with gambling. Gambling causes great harm to society. It is a shame that the forum was originally created to promote cryptocurrencies, and turned into an advertising platform for gambling.   I hope the administration will reflect on this issue.

Whenever I see a new signature  I just click on them. I do rarely visit the Altcoin Announcement board so it just give a little exposure to the altcoins.

Forum give the features to do disable the other user's signatures , I guess whenever I will use that option I will remove mine first. (It look unethical to me that I will display mine and will opt out for seeing others signatures.)

As has been mentioned, signatures associated with bounty spamming are the main problem. The "correct" use of signatures are a bonus, and a thank you to responsible posters. I believe that the ability to include ref links would be an alternative way to improve post quality. If members were rewarded by results, it would mean that low value ( and low reputation ) members would not be as successful with sponsors as the high quality posters.

It doesn't really affect me, as I use my own domains for signature links. As long as visitors and Google can read signatures, then one can reap the advantages. The odd member disabling them doesn't make a great deal of difference. Well the ignorer may miss out on some offers and info links of course. Smiley

I turned off Signatures just to check how the forums look without any signatures.
To tell you my personal experience and truth, I didn't like the Page without any signatures. Its the signatures that make the Page look a bit colorful and attractive.
However i do agree that the Posts should be constructive and interesting too.  Smiley
It depends on personal favorites, and your experience in the forum. I have not joined the forum for too long, just around two years. However, I read that grand-father forum members mentioned about the period in which the forum did not have signature. They called it as a pure period of the forum, in which no signature, no spam, and maybe no or very less scams. For those guys, I thought they support the approach to bring the forum back to the pure period, and theymos mentioned they if merit system failed to control spammers, he might actually disable all signature industry.

Fortunately, as we all witnessed, merit system has worked perfectly, so theymos might not disable all signature. Yobit signature is the first one I have ever seen theymos step in and disable it globally in the forum, in 60 days.

This option would serve as a great help when working for a signature campaign and there is probably a dispute about it authentication or there has been some rumours of scam you can choose the don't show users signature probably until the issue is resolved
Uh... what?

Let me try to dissect what you're saying:

You're assuming that the "don't show users' signatures" has an effect outside of the authorizing member (that is, the user that ticked the option).

This is wrong.

This has no effect on anyone that is participating on a campaign outside of their perspective. You may be assuming that it disables their signature... but if that were a concern, then they could simply remove it manually.

I don't get it.

Even if you turn off signatures, you would still be seeing spam posts, right?

Yeap. Though some people here on Bitcointalk made a sort of ignore list that you can simply import on the ignorelist on your profile's settings. Though the biggest one, DannyHamilton's, pretty much auto-ignored people with signatures so I don't think it's a great list at all.

No surprise there, many users still don't know such features are on the forum due to the reason they don't take time to browser through their profile settings and that must have cause them to miss it. This was when I discovered mine. Although we have alternative measure like use of scripts,. I do now believe there some forum friendly signature that aren't won't hiding.
