Ive bern using coinbase since dec 2015 to purchase bitcoin and everything has gone smoothly until now.
I tried buying bitcoin over the weekend via the mobile android app and it kept giving me an error message stating "an error has occurred...if it persists please contact [email protected] I kept trying to  make purchases from 2 different bank accounts...I kept getting the same error and no buy transactions posted to my account...I checked my wells fargo account today and Im.now -$4200  and yet there are no records of these buy transactions on my account .I sent coinbase support an e-mail 3 days ago ...no response yet...now the price of bitcoin has jumped $20 and I had Wells fargo initiate a fraud investigation...this sucks monkey balls..
I advise you to use a different exchange than coinbase...use gemini or someone else.now I have to wait 10 days for wells fargo to conclude their investigation before I get my money back.Dont USE COINBASE !!!!!!!

It's clear here you are wrong, did the second bank account is registered to your coinbase account? if not of course they need to checked first before give your bitcoin purchase request.

What are you talking about? he had 2 bank accounts linked to his coinbase account, and tried to make buys with each. If his Wells account wasn't registered to his coinbase account it would be impossible for him to have been charged.

i hope the OP will receive the bitcoin in the wallet and i hope coinbase will give fast respond after this. and maybe the OP will trying to move into other market exchange.

Bitfinnex, Coinbase... wow, what should I use?

you can use blockchain for sure Grin and maybe wallet from market exchange but don't fill too much bitcoin so if market exchange get hacked, you won't lost a big bitcoin. and don't forget to use mycelium too  Grin

Also, are you sure you got a legitimate mobile app? There was talk about a campaign lately of scammers trying to submit fake Bitcoin apps and it is possible you might have gotten an email or link from somewhere to checkout a fraudulent mobile app.

Coinbase isn't as responsive to Bitcointalk threads as far as I'm aware. You could try bringing this up on Reddit, though, they tend to respond pretty quickly to complaints on there (though I'm not sure theymos would be happy to see /r/bitcoin used as a Coinbase-complaint subreddit). I would highly recommend putting as much legitimate info into screenshots (being sure to blur identifying information) and post the full details in a descriptive post and you'll find people interested in what happens. Don't embellish in any of your complaints though.

I agree, it's the fake mobile app that's responsible for draining the bank account. Coinbase is a regulated exchange, unlike the bitfinex which is in Hong Kong and totally unregulated. You can't compare the two exchanges.

I also agree about reddit and the bitcoin sub-reddit there. If you don't like theymos to censor your post on reddit, you can try the uncensored bitcoin sub-reddit. I spend more time on reddit than bitcointalk these days, more up-to-date and quicker updates than here.

Holy shit, that is a lot of money to have go missing without any response for that long.  I thought they were a good company for the most part, but I'll have to steer clear in the future.  Hopefully your bank can end up sorting it out..

Let's wait for another day or two before we make any conclusions, Coinbase has been buggy for the last few months but I have yet to be ripped off. I've been using them since early 2014 without incident btw.
Even so, with amounts of cash like that it's just unacceptable to not be in constant contact with the customer over the issue.  That much money gone can really mess somebody up.

A professionally run exchange should have support staff available 24/7, and they should respond to serious problems like that in less than 24 hours. Leaving any customer in limbo for days who has that much money missing is unacceptable. I have never used Coinbase, and after reading this thread I have resolved to never use them.

I've been using Coinbase for 1 yr now, and every purchase / transaction (buying, selling, sending) has been flawless. I think overall they're a solid exchange and have WAY better business practices than Bitfinex did. But only on a few occasions have I used my mobile Coinbase app to purchase, and only once to send. I prefer going to website via my laptop. Not recommending Coinbase. Just saying that others like me have had a great experience. I have my coins locked down in their vault for now but will take them to Trezor or Ledger soon. "Their keys, their coin. Your keys, your coin."
coinbase for sure can't pleasing every client, there's always a client who luckily always got a good service and in otherside always got a problem
although your words is definitely true "Their keys, their coin. Your keys, your coin." ,saving in an exchanger like coinbase is not a good thing at all
better go off and find better place

Because of weird shit I've never seen before, a couple months ago I removed my credit card and decided to not keep any usd or btc on coinbase walllet. Since, I have made some buys and sells without being ripped off. I don't have confidence in any exchange right now tbh.

Need to know how true can this be. and will coinbase refund or send BTC to him. IF not i may have to change the ref link I have been promoting on my website.
Things gets crazy since the day bitcoin goes 500. businesses could turn scam in the end.Hope this isn't true though.

I wonder if they are having a supply problem. Possibly they don't have enough bitcoins available to sell. I would hate to think they are refusing to sell bitcoin because of the price drop and they are afraid of losing money. That would be bad for publicity if true.

Just to let you know, I tried a bunch of times when price was sub $500 to buy 20 btc but I kept getting invalid transaction error. I tried a bunch of times as the price rose, all of them saying the same error. One of those attempts was for 5 btc at $535. A few days later I got charged for them, and the buy order appeared in my list of coinbase transactions, showing the buy about a day and a half after my attempted purchase. Let us know if you do or don't get a buy order and your btc please.

Yeah, I hear you OP--had much the same experience with them, and it baffles me how they can stay in business.  Maybe it's just time to move on to another exchange. Circle or some of the others are better than Coinbase anyway.  But deal with this BS first, obviously.  They're not scammers (I don't believe), but like a lot of others in the bitcoin world, they are awful business people.

I would like to see the continuation of this story as it rolls out. Sounds like there was an error in the purchase part, but it doesn't explain why they would ignore someone for 3 days+
Hope you get your money back dude, theres no chance it will go without either a refund or bitcoin credited. With all the bitfiniex problems, last thing we need is another exchange with issues.

Have you saved any screenshots you can share with all of us? Since most of the people use (and started using) coinbase after bitfinex was hacked it would be good to have some actual proofs.
Can you provide any?
