As the founder said, I don't think that SOL will necessarily be able to overtake ETH.

It'll likely be an alternative, sure, but we've seen that ETH has significant first mover advantage in the fields of DeFi and NFT that someone simply can't overtake in a year or two.

There is way more institutional adoption with ETH than SOL. That's for sure.
Yes, I agree, look at the BNB that have said before, or maybe their plan is to overtake ethereum but it did not happen. SOL and ADA were doing the same, I don't know if there's one of them that can able to surpass ETH but as of now, ETH was an advantage when it comes to new projects, still, this ETH has a good network, not the BNB, ADA or SOL. It will maybe remain in the second place of BTC is ETH. No one can kill ethereum and also ethereum can't kill bitcoin.

Certainly, Ethereum's advantage on the market is very large, just look at the capitalization of both projects. Ethereum has also been in the cryptocurrency market for a lot longer. I agree that SOL will not be able to "kill ETH", and both projects will simply cut a slice of the market from this pie. I'm sure Ethereum will cut a much larger slice.

Many pundits have labeled Solana (SOL) as an “Ethereum killer” due to its lower fees and faster transaction times, Solana Labs co-founder Raj Gokal said the project has no desire to kill the cryptocurrency — and wouldn’t be able to if it did.

What do you think , Is solana capable to ovcercome the challenges which Ethereum is Facing...

SOL is currently the fifth-ranked digital asset in terms of total market cap with $71.7 billion, and is ahead of fellow ‘ETH killer’ Cardano (ADA) at sixth with $67.4 billion. ETH sits well ahead of the two in second place with a market cap of around $564.7 billion.

I don't think so sol will over thrown ethereum, though it showed a lot of significant breakthrough but it doesn't have tokens that supports their network same as erc20. What I only about this was because of huge number of holders, it's only an asset for everybody who chooses to trade and hold. Unlike bnb and polygon their competition was currently raging towards future endeavors.

At the moment, it may seem that projects such as Solana and Cardano are developing faster than Ethereum. However, no one takes into account that Ethereum 2 will soon be implemented. This will be a huge leap forward for Ethereum and the rest of the projects will stay far behind.

Please note, no project is going to be an ethereum killer now or in the future. no single project can undermine the dominance of ethereum in the Dapps network. Solana, Binance Chain, Cardano, Polkadot will only remain alternative options. maybe now those projects look very good and popular, but all that will fade when ethereum 2.0 comes. Just look at today, while ethereum is still having trouble dealing with the Gas fee issue, they still don't waver. then what can those projects do when ethereum has been able to solve the problem?. nothing, so forget about ethereum killer speculation.
That kind of speculation is always going to be there, it is similar to what we see with bitcoin and people thinking the coin in which they are invested has a chance of surpassing it, I think that even if the chances of this were always small if a developer wanted to achieve this their best chance to achieve this was before 2017, now that bitcoin is being supported by institutional investors and even a country it is almost impossible to surpass it, and I think something similar is going to happen when ethereum 2.0 finally comes.

If nothing else, these new networks like SOL, ADA or DOT are very good alternatives if you are looking for cheaper networks to transact with. Right now, eth network is still expensive but people are still investing on eth because they believe eth will one day improve their gas fees, and besides the developers of eth are really doing their job to deliver something to the community. It is just that their gas fees are still quite expensive for small traders. This is the reason why cheaper networks are rising these days. But to surpass ETH, they have a lot to prove like more projects on board and others. And it will take time to achieve all the things done by ETH.

I briefly say that the Gas problem in every Ethereum transaction looks high because the current Ethereum price is very different from the current ETH price where the difference between the current ETH price and the current price is very much different. Then you compare the price of Solana with the current price of BNB. Who is more expensive in gas fees on each transaction between Solana and BNB? Solana is definitely cheaper because the price of BNB is higher than the price of Solana.

I'm not sure that's how it works (higher prices don't necessarily  mean higher fees). Solana is built to be cheap and scalable on demand even though it doesn't having sharding technology like NEAR protocol, it does a good hob at providing cheap transactions to its users. The only downside with using Solana is the not-so-good user experience. Binance smart chain wasn't built to be scalable which is why gas fees there increased as usage increased.

the cost of ethereum gas does look very high but I think etherem gas is very suitable for the current price of ETH, why is the cost of binance and MATIC gas so low because the price is still very low, but if the price of bnb and matic increases the gas cost will also increase , I think the high cost of ETH gas will not be an obstacle for ETH to be able to continue to grow in the future, the proof is that until now ETH still dominates and becomes the 2nd highest coin after BTC, and I never thought that in a few next year other altcoins will kill and usurp the ETH position.

Now one can kill the etherum at anycost.Because Eth had huge inestors, now the price of Ethereum crossing the value of 3900$.Many doubt that,Ethereum won't cross the limit of 2k$.But it had increased to 4k$,which is double of the non believed value. It's enough for the Ethereum to sustain for a decade.

I believe these new layer 1 networks are popping around as just an alternative for Ethereum. Ethereum is indeed beauty for me in the smart contract platform and it is proven since Ethereum started.
Scalability is only the issue, and for sure scalability is much better to solve and easy than "decentralized".

I am no hater of Solana, I support and using this network too for the past few months. No need to compare Solana and Ethereum here, very far that Solana will flip Ethereum, both projects are good and have an active communities, more updates are coming for these projects.

There were a lot of blockchains that claimed that they would overtake Ethereum. Nevertheless it is still number one. There are a lot of alternatives that have advantage over Ethereum in price and speed, but Ethereum still keeps its high position. What is more, I think that when ethereum 2.0. launches, it will become much cheaper and as a result, people will continue using it actively.
Ethereum 2.0 seems like the world's gonna end before that happens, and even with the high fees the network has right now, it is still far from its contendersand people are still using it, Solana has the potential to go higher in market cap and price, but there is no way it could surpass the king Ethereum, unless something crazy happens.

I would not even call it as ethereum killer anymore. Even when SOL marketcap can surpass ethereum and ethereum will not die. It will still remain exist in the market and calling it as ethereum killer was totally a non sense thing. There should never be a killer for ethereum. This protocol will still exist and you must see that if so many BS smartcontract platform declared themselves as ethereum killers and they never go up again.
Solana was a competitor but this doesn't mean solana was an ethereum killer at this point. I guess that you're missing something from there.
I would like to call solana was a potential competitor for ethereum rather than something who will be killing it. I didn't know why people keep calling the new potential blockchain as killer for the old legit blockchain.
This is happening since lisk and waves were getting introduced.

SOL is indeed a good project and has a good potential but let’s not focus as an ETH killer because that wont happen and many already attempted to replace ETH yet they are failing. SOL must focus more on developing great things to last longer and to stay on top since there’s a huge competition in this market, SOL will be great in the future because of this.

there is no doubt that SOL is a good coin. however, compared to SOL, BNB is still much better, and so far BNB has not been able to beat ETH.
however, I think people think that SOL can beat ethereum because currently SOL is in the spotlight. this is just like many people saying that BCH, ETH and others will beat bitcoin. however, since bitcoin is the king of crypto, it is very hard to beat, even today. I also believe that ETH is much better than SOL although currently there are some issues that need to be fixed.
They are just excited about their own coin so I doubt many people are saying this while being serious about it, because if anyone is serious about it then they will be severely disappointed, just as bitcoin has a huge first mover advantage over any other coin by being basically the coin that started this massive market, ethereum also has a massive advantage over most coins in the market as well and this includes BNB and SOL, so if at some point those coins surpass ethereum I think it will have more to do with some mistaken decisions taken by the ethereum developers than by something BNB and SOL implemented on their blockchain.

It also can't kill ETH neither. Just because they have made some improvements on ETH blockchain doesn't suddenly make them ETH killer. I could literally copy their blockchain (solana) add in a few more features and then go out and say "We have whatever SOL has and even then some more!!!!". Would that make my coin better? Would that make mine go higher than where SOL is right now?

I can tell you that the graveyard of Cryptocurrencies is not filled with just scams and shitcoins, there are many that were awesome at the time of their start and just didn't see any interest at all. What makes SOL so great so far is not the fact that they are "better version of ETH", but because they did great marketing.

basically all projects can afford. and it's been proven now. the ethereum problem looks very chronic, but in fact it can be solved by other platforms. so there's really nothing difficult, only ethereum is obsolete. but speaking whether it will kill slowly? as founder solana said, it wouldn't be possible. because if it could, their goal of making the project wasn't to need a cryptocurrency. up to this point it was clear, so in the future there would be no killing situations, all walking side by side while competing to be the best.

Raj gokal was saying the right thing about that. There will be no competition between any of smartcontract platforms. The developers are only thinking to make crypto ecosystem become bigger from time to the time and they have intention to add more and more innovation. The supporters were over reacting about the bullish trend that happened with some new smartcontract platforms and they got eaten by FOMO and then they were running meaningless campaign like calling solana as ethereum killer. That's only for fanatic supporters.

What do you think , Is solana capable to ovcercome the challenges which Ethereum is Facing...
Solana is capable but wait, it's not only solana but all of potential blockchain even if that was L1 or L2 solutions like ADA, Polygon, BSC , avalanche and etc capable to compete with ethereum. It's not only in term of market capitalization.

People called solana as ethereum killer caused by this reason. I would not be surprised to see this. It's happpening so many times since a few years ago.

That because Solana has cheap, fast, no expensive transaction fees like Ethereum. Then investors will certainly use Solana as a suitable alternative. Coupled with the project from Solana, no doubt, has made many beneficial contributions. So that it is enough to offer an alternative to Ethereum which is currently getting more expensive and it is difficult to steal time with low shipping costs.

Things are never that simple, we cannot just look at a coin and see that it does something slightly better an immediately assume that it is going to destroy a competitor coin, I think the co-founder is being responsible here by saying that is not their aim and even if it was they will not be able to do, if at some point ethereum collapses or even disappears you can be sure that it will have to do with internal reasons and not because another project appeared that was slightly better than ethereum.

Eth is still the top altcoin and every altcoin is aiming to be its killer but people should get their own project supported without thinking like that. Each project has their ups and downs and so far ethereum is having issues with the fees while the other altcoins are taking advantage of being good due to the fee that it has. If the thing is about the fee then it's for sure that others can take over on that particular area but it will still not be able to replace it.

I just remind you that there will be no ethereum killer. That's only an old trick to gain attention from the new users. All of platforms in crypto will be co-exist as it will be connected from one to the each other with various ways.
What do you think , Is solana capable to ovcercome the challenges which Ethereum is Facing...

Yes it is. Too much people were feeling frustrated with the non sense gas fees in ethereum blockchain and they are looking for the new place to migrate their assets. We know that so many people actively using dapps and NFT platforms. This needs a blockchain with good capability to process transaction as fast as possible with low fees. You will not find that again in ethereum blockchain. This is why the new blockchain is getting so many demand so fast. The latest update that happened with ethereum blockchain didn't fix the main problem that was preventing ethereum from massive adoption. That's why the demand for L1 and L2 of ethereum are increasing a lot these days.

Maybe not in this cycle as SOL is still a new project which needs more development and reaches every phase of their project. Ethereum itself needs time to grow and reach the current position and I think that will happen too with SOL and the other coins. So maybe we should give SOL more time to work and reach their plan so we can see if SOL can beat ethereum or ethereum will still stay at number two. In the future, many new projects will compete with tight to reach better position and only the solid project that will get the chance to get the higher position.

Ethereum has a plan of fighting back with the introductions of many updates that can answer many concerns especially the incredibly high transaction gas fees that are affecting all user of Ethereum network. Now, if after a year from today, we see that nothing happened with all the planned changes in Ethereum...then maybe we can finally say that Ethereum must need be killed and must be left behind en masse. Until that time, I would say that Ethereum remains to be alive and can really be hard to kill considering its strong clout in the cryptocurrency market.

ETH already cemented its status as second best, just behind bitcoin. IMO, low network fees and faster transaction times are not ADA and SOL needs to overcome. It is the framework and the working ecosystem built around
ETH that they need to tackle and address if they want to take that number 2 spot. That is a pretty daunting task, and I'm not sure if ADA nor SOL are ripe enough to go head-on against ethereum at this point. Then again, many surprises happen in the crypto market, and it's quite possible that ETH loses its charm if it doesn't address its problems

Ethereum is one of the most reliable and trusted crypto in the market reason it's still number 2, so i believe even solana is ethereum killer its impossible they can flip ethereum because this ethereum has a good team behind and very optimistic and professional. in fact not only solana competing ethereum wherein there's a bunch of crypto wants to take over the place but they're failed .. So for sure this solana will give up in the future and i don't think Vitalik will let that situation happen. .  Cheesy
