How do you get to post in the gambling forum without a post history? I thought you had to have 10 posts or something to escape newbie jail.

They removed that restriction a while ago. Now you just need to wait for a couple of hours (without needing to post) to escape the newbie jail.

Its funny how the OP had created a new account, just to make this topic  Grin
25 BTC is crazy, but if you had owned one of the largest (if not largest) bitcoin gambling sites just-dice, that would be pretty small change for him, especially if he had gotten BTC at pennys. How many BTC did you buy, and at what price dooglus?

I remember my first purchase. There was a site selling BTC for PayPal - called CoinPal maybe? I'm not sure.

I ordered 40 BTC and paid $17.xx for them. They rejected my payment, because the address on my PayPal was different than I registered on the site with. By the time we sorted it out the price had dropped, so I ended up paying $15.15 for the 40 BTC.

I think that works out as 37 cents each.

Then I forgot about Bitcoin until I saw a post somewhere about them reaching $1 each, and didn't buy any more until they were somewhere around $5 each.

Edit (because if I made a new post I would get attacked for 'post padding' or some such bullshit):

Everyone is on Doog's jock, must be annoying to have it posted every time you have a losing streak in dice  Tongue

Not really. I don't know how I feel about it. Some people seem concerned about my losses, without knowing about the wins that came before them (I often martingale bet, which means I often win a little and occasionally lose a lot - and winning a little isn't very interesting) and I don't want to worry those people. Others seem to just want to watch me lose, which is weird.

Edit 2:

Yeah I wish I had gotten more involved back then. I had only done a few faucets near begging when I shoulda purchased with cash =/
Hey kolloh I think I saw you on luckyb.it. About 2 years ago I had seen this thing called bitcoin, some person on the cydia jailbreak market (for apple devices) wanted bitcoin for his tweak, I clicked on it to learn about it, and I decided not to. I really wish I had bought some, because it was so cheap back then, and I would have so much money right now, and I could really use that money.

Yep exactly. I tried a few faucets and forgot about it for a few years. Yeah I hangout at luckybit Cheesy

Gambling site operator/early adopters/early miners, etc. Some people have A LOT of BTC.

Bitcoin used to be *really* cheap, just a few years ago.

Edit: so now I'm 5 BTC up overall (and 2.2 on my other account):

Edit2: I just noticed that 3 of those 4 bets today have consecutive betids. I didn't bet very quick. I guess nobody was using the robot-roll thingy at the time.

What, win 37 BTC from it, then lose it all back again?

I doubt you really want that - it would make you cry for a week or two in the bit between the winning and the losing.

Shocked wow, thats almost $15000, from where do these people get so much btc?

I had to laugh at this. Dooglus is (was) the owner of a huge dice casino called just-dice.

I started buying BTC when they were 37 cents each around the same time I signed up for this forum account - in January 2011.

My first purchase was 40 BTC for the grand total of $15.15.

anyways, guys, I do not get where are those 25 BTC dooglus allegedly lost, as the name of the thread states? i see current site profits arround -7 BTC, which has been stable for at least past 24 hours. am i the only one seeing different numbers?

I've been taking occasional snapshots of the site stats. The profit is far from stable:

Code:
date                            investor profit                                                                         player profit
----                            ---------------                                                                         -------------
Sat Aug  9 09:45:31 PDT 2014    profit: -1.02023755     invested:       1,710.75568170  wagered:        1,935.1069      profit: 0.0676  bets:   3,393,343
Sat Aug  9 16:45:21 PDT 2014    profit: -11.76352107    invested:       1,789.50544471  wagered:        2,518.7667      profit: 10.7138 bets:   3,527,744
Sat Aug  9 21:52:27 PDT 2014    profit: -24.90444403    invested:       1,791.75849754  wagered:        2,678.0287      profit: 23.8547 bets:   3,582,148
Sun Aug 10 00:05:33 PDT 2014    profit: -8.34426980     invested:       1,768.84137234  wagered:        2,846.0450      profit: 7.2945  bets:   3,617,221
Sun Aug 10 09:14:48 PDT 2014    profit: -7.46499468     invested:       2,058.85087786  wagered:        2,892.4297      profit: 6.4135  bets:   3,766,398

As I remember it, my loss took the site profit from -26 to -1, and then "swaggg" or something like that won a bunch almost immediately, taking it back to -6 or so.

just it would be also distributed along other investors as well. dooglus said, he has invested 60 BTC into the bankroll, which at the moment is a bit less than 3%, so only this much of his losses would go to him as profits.

I always did a 'divest all' before playing, so I didn't get my 3% of my own losses back.

Poor doog Sad

I wouldn't worry too much - I just lost my winnings. Now my 'dooglus' account has a profit of 0.0000 and my 'dooglus_tablet' account has a profit of +2.2000.

25 BTC was a lot to lose, but it was also a lot to win. It balances out...

But who can be sure it is dooglus?
Well, we can't really be sure anybody's anybody, but I'm guessing if dooglus posts it, it's dooglus. Who knows which iteration of dooglus we're on and whether or not "dooglus" is just a shared account between three+ people, though.

As an aside - this sub-forum's even weirder than altcoin sometimes. Tongue

I guess now is the time to start investing in Dicebitco.in then.

Not really... he could easily win that back.

Anyone know how much he won before loosing the 25 BTC?

22 BTC apparently. After today's loss, it seems that he is only slightly in the red:

Wait, isn't dooglus also an investor of Dicebitco.in? He might even be the biggest investor of the site's bankroll. In which case, the losses from him losing would simply be redirected back towards him as profits.

just it would be also distributed along other investors as well. dooglus said, he has invested 60 BTC into the bankroll, which at the moment is a bit less than 3%, so only this much of his losses would go to him as profits.

EDIT: This is what I found on the Dicebitco.in thread:

Please note that I am not affiliated in any way with DiceBitco.in other than as a player, investor, and signature campaigner!

I should never have used the word "invest" when designing Just-Dice. By putting your coins in the site's bankroll, you aren't "investing" at all. You are only helping to fund the site's bankroll.

You are certainly not buying "shares" in the site. Even if you provide 99% of the bankroll, you still have no say in how the site is run, and you certainly don't own any of the site.

It's probably too late now to change the terminology used, but to be clear when I say I "invested" in the site, I mean I added 60 BTC to the bankroll which the site is slowly losing for me. I don't own any part of the site.

First, I was wrong, site is still down, which seems amazing if this is true.

Second, I'm showing max bet on the site as only 18 bitcoins.  A 200 bitcoin bet at 70% win chance would have a payout of over 80 coins.   So what did he do, invest 6500 extra bitcoins into the site to enable his bet?  Which would make little sense, since in that case he is partially just winning his own money.

Or is this just a big troll....

I'm really sorry he lost as he's a great contributor to this site.  But at least he may have the distinction of having finally put the site in a profitable state.  I've been surprised that the site has pretty much been losing money, despite the house edge, from its inception to now.

At least we know he knew what he was doing and can (probably) afford the loss.  Still, sympathies Dooglus!
