Yes, auto GPU is required for the memdiff argument.  And I *think* the max allowed difference, for 7xxx cards, is 150.  Search the CGMiner thread to verify.

Auto Fan and Auto GPU are two of the main benefits of CGMiner.
Undecided

I don't like the auto adjustments.
And if the max diff between the clocks is 150, then i dont need this argument cuz i already can set the memclock to 1050 without problems...BUT i want to set it lower. Sad

EDIT: Hm..doesnt seem to work. Maybe the memdiff options just really works under auto-gpu mode i dont have enabled?

How do i flash a customized bios under linux?

http://www.techpowerup.com/articles//overclocking/vidcard/154/9

Still, you might consider just having the memory 150 Mhz below GPU clock.
See os2sam´s post also.

From the CGMiner top post

>> --gpu-memdiff Set a fixed difference in clock speed between the GPU and memory in auto-gpu mode

This is for cards that don't allow  more than 150Hhz difference between Engine and Memory clocks.

In Linux you cant go more than 150 Mhz lower than GPU clock.
All you can do is to edit the BIOS.

In Windows it works with Afterburner but there is some tweaking involved.

IF you are using windows, may I suggest using MSI Afterburner for adjusting clocks and fanspeeds? I know it's handy with CGMiner to have it in the config and just have the clocks apllied when CGMiner starts, but I personally find MSI Afterburner a lot more comfortable and I like it's HWMonitor that keeps me updatet on the core temps.
Even that won't work.
I had both cards running on my main-pc before setting up the mining rig.
Overclocked them with Afterburner and tried to downclock memoryclock as well...but there was the same problem as mentioned.
Wasn't able to go lower than 1050Mhz...

Greetings.

I have same problem, with my new Asus Radeon HD 7870 1GHz edition. With 50MINER software (DiabloMiner) running in a Windows 7 64 bits, I can go down to 1050 MHz, but if I try to lower more, it goes to 1200 MHz. again.

How many MHash/s can you do with both cards? With my desktop with AMD Athlon x2 4800+ @ 2513 MHz, I get 451 MHash/s with GPU @ 1200 MHz, Memory @ 1050 MHz & VDDC @ 1.1219 Volts (GPU temp=73ºC).

Happy week-end.

Hi,

Here you go:
http://abload.de/img/screenshot.9x8uy4.jpg

The machine the cards are running on is a Celeron G530 (2,4Ghz) and 4Gb ram.

Hopefully there is someone who can help us with our problem :/

...
Overclocking the core works pretty fine but now i want to downclock the memcore.
My problem is: I am not able to go lower than 1050Mhz with CGMiner...
When i try to go to 1000Mhz with cgminer.conf the memcore is set back to 1250Mhz (standard memclock).
So im pretty much not able to go lower than 1050Mhz..which is too high in my opinion.

Hey guys,

I have a question.
I changed my rig-setup.
Now i have a rig of 2x HD7950 running in BAMT with CGMiner.

How can i solve this problem?
How to downclock the memcore in BAMT with CGMiner?
