@Negotiation If this was the case, just open "Folder Options" (Start menu->Search->Folder Options);
Click on the "View" tab, scroll-down a little then find and uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types".

That'll display files extensions like (.txt) and others.

The error that I was making is not to download the wallet file but just download the signature file and try to verify it.
So download the wallet and signature file *in the same folder* and try again.
If you do it correctly you will succeed.
