This is not first time scammers have hacked the accounts of famous and influential people to perpetuate a scam. People should learn to stop doing anything a celebrity tells them to do. It's crazy the number of people who fell for this scam in the short period the account was hacked, even people who never bought crypto before in their life but are Drake fans would fall victim just because they want to feel some sort of connection with the artiste.

This thing no dey very nice to read, e dey among reason why them dey always say make people try dey go through some kind things dem come across online for confirmation before them go jump into am. Dis celebrities too dey overdo sometimes as some of them for naija here even go dey create tokens with their names to make money from their followers, but that one na all in the past now. Drake na big celebrity and the hacker go don plan this thing for long and just go immediately to advertise him scam token to gather money sharply before the real owner retrieve the account back. E dey very sad but make people try dey confirm all dis things before them jump into am.

I don't think those excuses of being hacked are forged. The admins of the social media being used by the celebrity can easily identify if it's true hack or false, so if the celebrity comes out to say what is not true i think the admins can disregard the claim and call for strict intervention following breaking their policies.

These celebrities are the targeted candidates for various scam attempts, how scammers do that obviously we can't tell but at the lowest chances we can agree that they are prone to such break out. It's left for anyone to decide whether to become a victim of any scam currencies, projects built on hypes and celebrity influences are not long lasting and worth our investment.

So if a celebrity announces that their account were hacked do you expect the account manager (employee) to come out to say otherwise? And what do you mean the admin can easily tell if it's true or a lie; just a password change or location change is all you need to pull this type of " I was hacked story"

This "I got hacked" thing has been going on in crypto and 90% of them are scam. They see out their social media pages for shady promotions and all that.
What level of free pass are they having into the accounts of celebrities especially if it's a global celebrity with huge audience, it's not an easy pass and requires lots of details to be able to crack in. Just so we know, the media admins have control over our accounts than we know, anything concerning location changes and intruders can easily be identified by the system and the admins can alter any suspicious activities most likely when it caused money scandals in the community.

But it's now known that influencers are marketing this shit projects after acknowledging that the projects are just created to drain investors all because of personal benefits.

The fact that some scammers use celebrity accounts to promote fake coin is not new, but it must be helpful to some newbies who would think that any celebrity can use their accounts promoting those projects. At one point, a Nigerian football player's Boniface X account was hacked and used to promote a fake project. It took him a few days to recover the account, but in the end, he apologized to his followers, saying that he never intended to promote the fake project. However, since the football player is known for his regular jokes, I'm sure that many people were unable to fall for it.

However, I am not sure how some people fall for this, because it's not the first time this type of thing has happened. Some people could think that the celebrities who control the account are promoting the project. With what individuals have experienced with Davido and other celebrities who cheated their followers in the name of launching fake projects, the majority of individuals who lost money in Davido coin were his fans, because I know Wizkid FC will never fall for any of that. Cool

This na 1 reason why we no need to dey invest on the meme coins because chances to get scammed there dey very high especially all those new coins way never make names.
If undergo research on those celebrities dem hack their social media accounts used to scam people on the process of investing for cryptocurrencies, u go see say na mostly meme coins dem take victimize people so.
That na to say dem dey use those celebrities hype the coins for am to fit get value and also attract people.
Real coins like bitcoin no need all that tricks because decentralized currencies like that no get to hold on any person influential identify for the coin to gain values.

Scammers know these celebrities already have their followers who are been influenced by the celebrities. This is why they are always targeting how to hack their accounts on X in order to use it for scam. It's a pity that a lot of people will keep falling for this kind of fake promotions through celebrities be it an account hack or not, because they allow these celebrities give them financial advice without thinking twice.
I am not a fan of celebrities promoting any memecoin . When I see such, I just say to myself that they are as worse as the developers of the coin because they know that their followers will lose their money but nothing will happen to them because they will cash out. And look because of how terrible our country's judicial system is they instead of them to go To jail, they will be walking free. This isn't just peculiar to Nigerian celebrities only even abroad celebrities also do it. They have no conscience anymore.

Immediately I see a celebrity promoting a memecoin, I immediately frown at it because it's a huge red flag. Celebrities have no business creating any crypto project except they want to be a founder and not just a memecoin insider or deployer.

I didn't buy any celeb tokens this year and it was for a good reason. 99% of all celebrity tokens launched this year all ended up as scams and only brought pain to people that purchased them. Definitely won't be me.

Scammers usually hack celebrities social media account's for things like this however not all promotions of fake coins that are done by celebrities are as a result of hacking there social media account some are done on purpose because they have been paid by those fake coins creators that is why it is always advise to disregard there information account new coins.

This I was hacked from my account story to promote scam token has always been the excuse of these celebrities to take advantage of that story to promote shady coins, scam their fans, get their own share, come online to spread hacking news.

What on earth are people still falling for this type of scam, it happens every now and then, it's very common yet the gullible ones are still falling for it.

I don't even know why some people are not that smart, why is it that immediately after some people hear that a celebrity is doing something they will want to follow the celebrity's order and do what the celebrity says, this is not the first time this has to happen and we still don't want to put sense into our head and know what is real or it is not Real, although celebrity are people we love and support anything they do we have know that people can use those celebrity names or account to create something and we won't know.

Those people who fall into those people trap are those people who don't value their money because as a good investor, you have to know about a coin before investing in it, this will also serve as an example for those people who don't care about a coin before thinking of buying it.

Also I don't know why people take Crypto-currency advice from public figures even from those who doesn't have any knowledge of crypto. Just because someone is famous doesn't mean they are right on all aspects and again some celebrities are deliberately taking advantage of the influence they hold to promote crypto's that ends up ripping off people. You ought to be careful and DYOR.
this is where the issues lie, why is it so easy to believe or take crypto related advice from a person that is not even in the crypto space just  because the individual is a public figure? anyone's account can be hacked and for some cases, the owner can just intentionally do these kinds of things under the pretense that his account was hacked. should you allow you allow yourself fall victim of any minor glitch as this?

there should never be an exception when it comes to doing verification on a project before ever investing in them. if you think that it is necessary to do research on project that are championed by individual in the crypto space that might not be completely trustworthy, then even if it is drake, you should never invest blindly just because he is popular.

It's sad to see that some public figures account can still get hacked. We have seen this sort of incidence happening repeatedly and a public figures social media accounts getting to the wrong hand can be very disastrous causing so much harm to the owner of the account and lots of people. I believe more measures need to be put in place to counter this issue

Hip-hop icon Drake’s X account faced a cyber intrusion on Saturday, with the hacker using the platform to advertise a Solana-based meme coin called “$ANITA.”

Drake’s X Account Used in $ANITA Meme Coin Scam: $4.9M in Fake Hype
Aubrey Drake Graham, the Canadian rapper, singer, and songwriter widely known as Drake, encountered a breach of his X account over the weekend. The attacker seized the opportunity to pitch the newly minted meme coin to Drake’s 39 million followers on the platform. Dubbed $ANITA, the coin draws inspiration from Drake’s Anita Max Wynn Tour, tying its name to Drake’s recent ventures.

The rapper’s X account posted a message from the Anita X account claiming the coin was created by “Drake and Stake.” Stake refers to the cryptocurrency betting platform Drake partnered with back in 2022. Initially, the coin saw a quick spike in value before crashing just as fast, once people realized neither Drake nor Stake were actually connected to the $ANITA token.

Despite the fallout, the token still managed to generate $4.9 million in trading volume and over 7,000 buy orders. By Sunday, Dec. 15, 2024, $ANITA’s market cap had dropped to a paltry $12,000. The posts on Drake’s X account were taken down after onchain detectives like Zachxbt and others revealed the posts were likely fraudulent, calling out $ANITA as a scam. Drake’s situation isn’t unique—his is just the latest in a string of celebrity hacks this year, where compromised X accounts are used to hype up newly launched meme coins.

Famous X accounts belonging to Hulk Hogan, 50 Cent, Doja Cat, and Caitlyn Jenner have also been breached to promote questionable meme coins. These incidents, including Drake’s hack, reflect an ongoing pattern where hackers hijack celebrity accounts to lend credibility to shady schemes, often causing temporary price spikes for the coins they push.
