I would truly like to believe the drones could be something else, like intergalactic forces coming in touch with the decaying human race to bring positive changes, renewing the hopes of a better future, but at the current stage we have reached as society, such beliefs and expectations have also fade out.

Actually that would be the worst case scenario, if those drones had anything to do with aliens. It would translate in such a disruption of society that it would bring negative changes within our culture and politics. even worse if those aliens consider us to be inferior and thus they tried to eliminate us, so they can grab the resources of earth for whatever they may need them.
It would even a better scenario if those drones happened to be sent by the CCP from China and successfully violated the USA air space and the government has become reluctant on taking them down.

The minimal alien possibility would the the wackiest and also the most dangerous one.
I mean, the world is so shitty that the possibility of an end has become a hope...

Aliens could mean the end through annihilation of human beings or through the enforcement of a more "evolved" law system. What I can say is that the way the world is right now is unbearable already. Anyway, since an early age I've heared about aliens and UFOs, but nothing for sure was ever prooved. So I don't spend my time anymore with these matters, since it's just a mean for charlatans to arise attention to themselves and to make an income from.

The government isn't concerned about the drones, so it must be their business what is going on in the skies of New Jersey every night. If it was something really unknown to the US government, they would have already taken measures against the drones immediately.

Some speculated it could be that some major companies are doing some tests with new commercial drones, while others pointed out the drones must belong to government's activities and operations. In every cases, it's pretty sure the government knows more than it claims to know.

By saying they know nothing, at same time they say there is nothing to worry about, they are just treating the citizens like cattle, like always.

Whatever they are, the US military is condoning them.

Try flying your Cessna in military controlled air space. If you don't answer the radio from the military, you'll get shot down. Yet nothing like this is happening to the drones. Not even an attempt to shoot them down. The whole thing is being done to scare people.

Cool
These drones that are sported in America, couldn't be anything serious, if it's a threat to their national security or in anyway harmful to people, they would've been brought down. This is USA that we're talking about here, any threat within the country or external force wouldn't be trespassing and their military will do nothing. I can perhaps believe if something like that is noticed in a third world country and it's left unchecked because their technology is too backward, even they would cry out for help. One thing is for sure, the American intelligence knows about it and it'll not be in anywhere harmful to lives and properties in their country.

What are this drones reported in New Jersey?

This seems like mass panic and because of increased drone activity. And press like fox news wants to feed from that, because nothing sells better than panic and mystery.

More people look at the sky, more footage you will get. And people will definitely buy more drones because of the hype and add to the trend. Drones are now cheaper then ever, so expect a rise of those sightings after christmas.

I have looked some of the footage in youtube, and in many of them, it seems to be either a plane or even a planet venus or a star, because they seem to be unaware of the autokinetic effect. That happens because earth rotates and it's hard to pinpoint how much a single light in the sky would be actually moving.

During night time you can't do good size estimation either. Add random fake footage to the mix and you got hysteria that you can market.

And isn't anyone paying attention to the issue, why people are noticing them only during night? Because in the night time you only focus on those lights. Which in drones and planes are normal navigation lights required by law. Why would spy drones have those, and why would they fly them in the night anyway, when you can't even see anything clearly. More plausible theory is that during the night time you can get cool footage from the lights of the urban area.

Perhaps it is something the government of the United States is doing by themselves and they are simply not openly admitting to it. It would be possible they are trying to new technology to use drones to recognize people on the ground (which would be useful for law enforcement) and so, it would not make sense for the government of the state to shoot down the drones, having federal instructions not to do so.

On a side note, it is quite interesting how drone technology is advancing in such rapid pace, it used to be an expensive hobby years ago and not everyone had access to it, now anyone could have a half decent drone with HD camera with a few hundred bucks from Amazon or Aliexpress...

Folks start seeing all kinds of crazy stuff when they gaze up at the night sky, particularly if staring into space isn't exactly their usual hobby.  Wouldnt shock me if tons of people are looking up right now hoping to catch a glimpse after hearing those first couple reports... Could be the latest fad for all I know!

But in all seriousness, there is no enough details yet to say what exactly these "drones" are.  They could be anything from hobbyist drones people play around with to heavier-duty commercial models.  I noticed in a few of the videos making the rounds online, a good number resemble regular passenger airplanes. Probably just near some airport coming and going as usual.

well if they are spy drones... they are not very good (having their lights on, easy to spot)
also drones are known to have short battery power so would not have taken off from mainland china/russia. so either they are from US mainland or a vessel just off the coast

i feel like its probably a hired entertainment company, being used to put on a show so that politicians can then lobby for  a anti-drone law to stop even domestic citizens from having them as a hobby

(fear of domestic terrorists/rioters using drones with IED's flying near trump)

or even commercial/companies not wanting competition so they become sole permitted service for sky displays(when fireworks are banned from public due to 'carbon')
much like they propagandised the dangers of segways to make it illegal to use them in public forcing people to use municipal bike/scooters or uber
