Paypal can't just ban an account without notifying you with a reason. I have been using paypal for years and never had any restrictions but I've read that some users get restricted but there's always a reason given which will be within their policies. I haven't used their paypal features as that is not available in my region yet so I can't really comment on crypto trading experience. People need to avoid using paypal for illegal or suspicious activities else they will get banned

paypal can impose restrictions on accounts that make a lot of transactions, provided that they are authenticated and addressed. These restrictions can be eliminated by authentication or address verification. This situation is a measure taken to prevent money laundering.

I make use of PayPal, but not for cryptocurrency trading. The crypto feature is not yet available for me and others in my country, I guess maybe by next year it will. But I don’t plan to make use of PayPal’s Bitcoin and crypto. I just use PayPal to send money sometimes and I don’t use it regularly and mostly because people I send money to now make use of Bitcoin for receiving money.

Even if they start offering the crypto feature, I already have Binance and I also have some good private wallets that I am using, so it’s of no use, and I have read their method is completely different. As to whether they are blocking users account, I have seen two people complain that their account was blocked because they tried to day-trade cryptocurrency, although one of them said his account was later released but restrictions were placed on it.

The problem might not really be about the PayPal but the world financial policy as regards crypto. As we all know that most used bank card all over the world is mastercard, I recently learnt that skrill is no longer allowing the funds deposited through master card to settle payment to merchants, most especially the crypto markets.

If it's really Paypal who blocked your account. There must be a noticed to your email. You may check your inbox, I am receiving some emails from Paypal reminding me for my account because I haven't used it for so many months. They are verifying my account, etc.

Which trading platforms are you currently using? I don't use paypal ot any credit cards when doing some trading. They are planning to adopt crypto payments, too. I think they have a valid reason to block your account. You can also send emails to them regarding your issue.

I don't think the OP is truthful about his claims. While he was active on the forum today he did not return to the topic to address the questions asked.

You aren't reading right, OP point was he doesn't believe that PayPal is blocking people's account for no reason sake, he want anyone who might have a blocked PayPal account to respond if truly PayPal blocks accounts for no reason, all the comments have read so far including yours says nothing about owned account that got blocked while trading crypto on paypal platform

Yes, my mistake. I was referring to the maxreish post, so I came to the wrong conclusion.
I read some previous claims that PayPal blocked accounts due to crypto trading so I wrongly concluded that OP is also one of them.

I read on the forums that in case of blocking, it is easier to forget and make another account. There is almost no chance to restore the old one. And after blocking, you can't immediately withdraw funds: this is only possible after you close your account after 180 days.
PayPal is just a commercial company that makes a profit in all available ways it is not subject to government regulations.

If you are a PayPal user and your account got blocked why trading crypto please kinda drop comment on here, the reason why I bring this up is because of I still find it hard to believe that PayPal is blocking users account for no reason sake, PayPal is after money and they knew that implementing crypto will bring them huge money, they won't want to chase away their customers and ruin their reputation, they know about better crypto exchanges out there, the competition is real
Dunno if it is their "TOO" strict KYC verification or it is just their way to rake a bit of money from their users. That's why I avoid Paypal most of the time.
My account, which I already expected to get locked, did. Now that they don't allow me anymore to use Paypal cause even with valid IDs, I still got no power to unlock my limitations there. Now I am just gonna wait 180 days for goodness sake.

Payapl is never going to block your account for dealing with cryptos because in 2020 they itself implemented buying and selling crypto features in their platform by integrating with a crypto exchange. So either you did some violation of their terms or its by a mistake so better contact the support and ask for the clear explanation is the only solution available for you.

No. I don't think that you can deposit your funds in a crypto exchange with the used of your PayPal account because I know that PayPal prohibits the use of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies back then. It is why other users of PayPal might have been blocked because they tried to used their funds in PayPal in trading with cryptocurrencies.

Yes, usually they will send you an email beforehand and will tell you to do an identity check again? I'm not really sure about that. Regarding Paypal blocking accounts, I think they are still not perfect in their "precautionary" measures, they impose too difficult rules for crypto users. and also I never thought of using Paypal in terms of trading, there are still many options to choose from, simpler and easier
It's normal to hate what you don't understand sir, PayPal had no idea what crypto is all about at that time and they even said bad things about it, many other well known people around the world says bad things about bitcoin too, I could still remember warren buffett joining the bitcoin haters club then, this has nothing to do with why Paypal is blocking accounts today and moreover is your own account blocked? I'm guessing those that got their account blocked have broken the rules of the platform
On the network, it often spreads information that PayPal has blocked the accounts of its users, which are somehow associated with cryptocurrency, but there is no explanation for this. In any case, any payment system operates constantly in accordance with certain rules that are publicly available. This means that any blocking occurred for some reason, and I do not exclude that the blocking occurred at the request of government agencies. If a criminal case is initiated against a person, then his accounts are blocked, including accounts of the payment system.

Few years ago, when I started trading Bitcoin. I heard a lot of horror stories where Paypal shutdown accounts of people who use Paypal to buy crypto. Or engage transaction with websites that process Paypal to crypto. This is a stupid.

Now look Paypal company allows purchasing crypto using Paypal.

Quoted from their website:

https://www.paypal.com/us/smarthelp/article/cryptocurrency-on-paypal-faq-faq4398?app=searchAutoComplete#:~:text=We%20announced%20that%20PayPal%20users,service%20to%20Venmo%20in%202021.

Quote
We announced that PayPal users in the U.S. can buy, sell and hold select Cryptocurrencies directly through PayPal using their Cash or Cash Plus account. Users will be able to learn about Crypto, track crypto prices, all without leaving the PayPal app. We plan to introduce this service to Venmo in 2021.
PayPal also announced that it will enable Cryptocurrency as a funding source for purchases in 2021, allowing users to use their Cryptocurrency holdings to make purchases at its network of more than 26 million merchants. Once launched in 2021, when a consumer selects Cryptocurrency as the funding source, the Cryptocurrency will be instantly converted to fiat currency and the transaction will be settled with the PayPal merchants in fiat currency.
I won't call it stupidity because PayPal isn't the only company that thinks crypto is another bubble, many did and things change around thanks to crypto performance since that year, even today there are still some millionaires who refused to invest in Bitcoin saying they have no clue what it's all about, crypto adoption needs time and PayPal team feels like it's the right time to support the technology, it's normal.

Maybe using amounts higher than $10000 can be one of the first reasons why the account has been restricted by management.

$10,000 is nothing. They that got account blocked after trading did several trades during 1 week. User can exceed these $10,000 limit within 11 buy/sell trades of $1,000. I'm sure that $10,000 was not the reason to get restricted.

But, he might have used some third party software to automate buy/sell actions with short time in between. That could be a reason for a ban.

The main reason for blocking by PayPal is using solely the Paypal account for crypto trading. In 2021, the funding will be available for users but currently, only trading is supported. Maybe using amounts higher than $10000 can be one of the first reasons why the account has been restricted by management.
I'm a long time user of PayPal but didn't try to use it yet in trading, I'm not just comfortable yet in doing so since I prefer to use it in paying in some shops and buying in international transactions online. If there is limit for new users it will hinder the adoption they might wanted or better new users of PayPal should read rules to avoid being block, restrictions maybe for new users to avoid using their platform for AML transactions.

Same here. Long-time user here but haven't tried their crypto services yet. And don't have plans to. I will just do my crypto dealings outside PayPal, which is far better than using their platform when you talk about crypto trading. I believe most long-time crypto users will not find it advisable to use their platform when it comes to crypto. But ok, this will be a good introduction to previously noncrypto users of their platform.

I was a paypal user few years ago but thanks to crypto i have completely stopped using their services as i was also tired of their strict policies and rude behavior. Now they are feeling real competition and heat in the shape of crypto im sure they will try to remain in the market now by adding crypto based services too otherwise game will be tough for them.
I also did the same. I stopped using paypal because of how strict they are but I kinda understand why because they are regulated. They need to apply strictly their rules and regulation for the sake of the company. However, it is not good for its users as it seems like we are bring prohibited to freely use our own money because they run as the third party.

Why, then, PayPal added such a function, if you can get a ban for using it. I don't really understand anything. In this case, there is no elementary logic. Having received the opportunity to buy cryptocurrency, we cannot withdraw it from there. Why is it then generally needed?

I was a paypal user back in 2015s and they blocked my account for some transactions that eventually led to crypto buying. I don't know how they exactly knew as I had no problem with the person I was trading to but they locked my $200 for some months and after some passive support I got to withdraw my money with heavy restrictions on my Paypal account that I didn't bother to login ever since.

How they know that you have transaction came from crypto currency are they tracking the address you use?

Good thing you never use that again. it's better to use Bitcoin for online transaction than using a platform that can block your account any time they  want and have very strict policy in terms of transferring money to other people

PayPal have been a victim to scammers in the past, they have every right to be very strict nowadays and I'm sure that the victim isn't revealing everything that went wrong on his own end, there must be more to this story than what we've been told, also after doing few diggings I saw the news that says the user account was banned after it's technical system termed his frequent crypto trading as 'item SALES'. Doesn't that supposed to ring a bell?

please permission to respond.

Even though I am not a paypal user, it would be very unprofessional if a large platform like paypal did the blocking without a clear basis. much less block 1 or 2 users, unless they're doing something suspicious.

so I just want to ask you, did you do something outside the rules that have become paypal policy itself?

because it is necessary to be careful and not quickly draw conclusions. Even though you have submitted a ticket for questioning and there has been no response, it is possible that your ticket question is still in the queue.

the rest, because I am not a Paypal user .. Smiley

Paypal certainly increases the limits of users who fight or avoid abuse, where such activity is likely to be carried out by crypto users. Limitation like this will impact or even apply to all PayPal users even though they'll never use bitcoin.

If you want freedom (the full benefit of bitcoin), avoid paypal.

Have been using the PayPal account before they integrated their payment method into digital currency, there was thousands of esteem customers with same issues of account blockage, this is part of PayPal itself. For them coming into the crypto-space to start all over again is disguising to my liken, they just wanted the profit from crypto-world but may cause more damage if not check properly. At this juncture, i won't ever attempt buy crypto with PayPal account.

Any reason to believe why you were blocked? I don't know why you are saying that PayPal is blocking user accounts for no reason at all, it's just not good business for them. Adopting crypto is a plus for them but not letting any BTC out of their wallets is weird. That's what I'm most worried about. It's all immediately being converted to fiat. Is that the experience of PayPal users here?

In our region, it's still not applied or available. They are probably testing out first and see if it's worth doing to other regions, I guess.

At first PayPal aren't so sure about the survival of crypto but since 2019 they have been carefully watching how crypto will get perform and this year pandemic did a big part by proving how strong crypto is, PayPal are in for the money making, no doubt but do you guys think that they already had enough to start blocking crypto traders account? They knew the consequences for that, I believe that affected crypto user is into more than we know.

PayPal have been in business for so long and recently they decided to add btc to their services which they know can bring lots of customers especially those from the crypto space how would such company just blocking accounts without any good reason! i think there is more to this story, PayPal is a very strict company which means they will block any account that looks suspicious.
Exactly! That's what I'm guessing too, how come it's only one or probably two people complaining about the ban on account? If it's suspicious there will be more banned accounts by now, I don't trust people this days, they like taking unnecessary risks to earn money in wrongful ways, I'm sure the users are to be blame

Thats maybe a regulation they make from the past. Since they add bitcoin and other crypto in their platform now it might be change . But as for me it's better to secure your funds to your own hand than trusting it with 3rd party that have hard regulations to follow.

By the way here is the old article for blocking users in PayPal that use cryptop currency transaction.https://www.financemagnates.com/cryptocurrency/news/paypal-bans-user-for-trading-cryptocurrencies/

I'm a PayPal user, but I do not trade crypto there. I have no doubts that some user got blocked for trading crypto, because PayPal have weird rules and algorithms. Their support is terrible, you have to wait for days to get a default answer.

My story. I've helped one guy with photo editing. He paid me to PayPal and his payment is on hold. PayPal shows that the payment is received and asks to "updated shipment information" if I want to get funds quicker. I've done it and the sign that my holdings will be released in 7 days appeared. After 10 days nothing happened. I've waited 2 days for support answer. I was told that funds will be released when deals status will be changed to "shipped". It is now shipped for 12 days... Right now I'm waiting for another answer from support.

If I have issues with such and easy service with fiat, then there is no wonder there are issues with Bitcoin trading.
Payment delays on PayPal aren't new at all, in your case it's all about waiting but what the OP is talking about is banned accounts, I am a paypal user myself and I haven't seen such happen, not even among my friends that use PayPal service too, my thoughts is Paypal new what will happen if they keep blocking users account, I'm sure they are blocking people for some reasons, it would have been better if they can just give reasons

None so far I guess, people likes fighting for the wrong cause honestly, on this forum I'm sure there are many PayPal users here but no single one got his or her PayPal account banned for unknown reasons yet you guys are taking the side of a crypto trading that got banned for unclear reason, if I can remember very well some scammers are using PayPal accounts for illegal funding, they move huge amount of money from hacked bank accounts or cards and use PayPal as the source, if your account get blocked check yourself.

As a Centralized company PayPal has the power to do how they like but is that the case here? Stop fighting for something that isn't 100% clearer to you, just because PayPal has the power to block users doesn't mean they are misusing the power, I'm pretty sure that blocked accounts users have done something wrong

As far as I use Paypal in the past, I heard about many members getting blocked by Paypal without any clear reason, even if they are verified Paypal members for years. Paypal has the power to block their users without any explanations, but we can ask Paypal about the problem. If we are not guilty of making any suspicious transaction, Paypal will open the blocked. Usually, they need their members to send any backup document to convince them to release the account. But if that is because trading crypto in Paypal will be blocked by Paypal, then how come Paypal announce their members to use the new services in their account.

I opened my PayPal account in 2017 and till that time I've never had any issue with the platform, If PayPal are just blocking accounts for no reason it would be very clear right now, I've only heard about one or two crypto users that got their accounts blocked, those users can't be trusted honestly, people this days have no respect for anything, they can do and undo when they see any opportunities, I won't blame PayPal

There was actually a user last month who got blocked for trading Bitcoin in Paypal. here's an article about that user. I think the thing here is that Paypal doesn't really care much about cryptocurrency except getting the name "Bitcoin" to attract attention and create hype. Look at the impact, their stocks rose because of Bitcoin. It really sucks that they aren't really helping with adoption since you really can't do anything, though they helped with advertising.

Although there is no prove why users accounts are been block on PayPal, some said the affected users try to cheat the system somehow and some said it's PayPal doing as they are know for blocking accounts even before crypto landed on their platforms but why is PayPal silent about this? I am a Paypal user since 2018 and my account has never been blocked

It is always good to hear both side of a story, paypal is a well known company that has been providing services for years now, it will be odd for them to go about blocking accounts without any concrete reason, i know sellers usually complain about account been blocked by paypal but when you look closely this users weren't all that innocent, those who find themselves in this situation should approach the paypal customer service for help.

My question to you is... is your account got blocked by PayPal for trading crypto or you just making this post base on what you read and not what you experience?
i do have an account with PayPal but just for my personal usage only so i can't say much about trading experience since i don't use it for that, besides, PayPal has always been known for blocking accounts for any slightest irregularities and it does not necessarily be accounts related to crypto trading only only, probably this accounts are violating some of the rules regarding trading by PayPal or so, for them to block this accounts there must be a good reason.
