If other users know how to value things? This speculation is simple and just to think of it, if cryptocurrency is decreasing? It's not a big problem tho some of us don't like it. Think of it as a good thing. Other people or us users can purchased another one because when the price is decreasing also the price of bitcoin may affordable

The main reason is that superior crypto tech like Eth is overtaking Bitcoin rapidly, but since the market is still led by the bitcoin price everything including Eth will have to go through a dip first before rising as the superior and biggest coin that will lead all of future crypto tech development.

In my view it seems to be the time of gaining resistance to give a next price pumping.
Yeah, Grin we have a good resistance at $3000 and it looks like we have a good support above $2000,the only thing everyone is waiting is to see whether these two levels will be broken.

As most users have said it's obviously based on the real nature of bitcoin to have fluctuations in between the price increase. This time this has been made a big talk because of the price expectation of the users. In my view it seems to be the time of gaining resistance to give a next price pumping.

I think it is because the traders are doing their trade on a large scale they sell when the price of bitcoin increase and buy back when the price of it decrease. So when they all sell the price drop and at that time they again start to buy so the price start to increase.

That is really obvious everytime the price pumps, many investors with a massive coins even sold their stashes when it reached $2000 which is just a possibility in the past few months. Now we are leaving behind that price and looking forward at $3000. I guess if more dump will happen, I think it is because of panic.

Hi,
i'm trying to understand why all crypto and especially BTC is falling dow since 48h? It's because the fear of the segwit to come in several weeks? Is the chinese market trading low?...
I think this is currently the same big falling as the one of the previous 25 may.. it dropped of 33% in 4 days, now we see almost the same loss.. But i can't really know why.
Pierre

You know ups and downs are normal in bitcoin price. This is a cycle and never will be end since we are dealing with the price volatility.

Now to point out the source, we all don't know. All are speculations. The upcoming August deal should make it's FUD not now or maybe yes just an early one. I don't see also manipulation here. Well I guess I have to state my own speculation too; bagholders create a bearish market and they succesfully grab others that's why the price went down much. Isn't it nice to have more bitcoins before the positive result on August? Why positive? Jusy my speculation.

Price is rebounding up today so no worries. If you didn't take the opportunity to buy coins recently then goodluck waiting again for the price dip.

It surprises me somewhat this price increase considering how close August 1 is. It seems that investors and traders are confident that there will be no split after that day and that is a good sign. I wish they are right.

Some people holding the great Speculators says that theirs another boost happening on bitcoins history and you can also define to yourself since actually this downfall is supernormal since its occuring when price is supper high or reach to its another milestone and maybe those high jumps will be occured next month if theirs no bad things will blocked it.

Think about it this way.

When bitcoin is "pumped", it means that people are buying into it with their savings. In the trader's case, they are usually margin trading, aka borrowing bitcoins to conduct their trades, and they have to pay interest on that.

Now bitcoin has risen exponentially in value over the past few weeks, a lot of traders probably have short positions open on the bitcoin/usd pair, but the bull market is so strong that they are forced to liquidate on their investments. But all good things has to come to an end, when there are enough shorters as well as sellers, then the market turns bearish. And when it does, the traders who went long on bitcoin is forced to sell as well to keep their profit and repay their loan. So this drives the price down further. This is called a long squeeze.

Now most coins are on the rise again.

This is manipulation, some whales are profiting largely from this
It was a typical move to take profits. No real manipulation or anything like that, just bots doing their work.
Here's how  it starts. A number of people see no real upward movement and decide to take their profits and dump. This triggers the bots to terminate positions and further dumps. I've seen it before Wink

Corrections. What goes up must eventually come down.

We've been here before and all its ups and downs. Let's just hope it levels down to a stable floor.
Correction because bitcoin reached overbought state or there is no longer support level for increased price is one thing.
But "correction" based and fueled by bad news and FUD is something entirely different - it is nothing but instantaneous massive sell-off caused by panic.

24 hour high of $2600+ on bittrex.
Slowly but surely the rise is on again after the 'Thursday bloodbath'
I'm not sure if there will be a levelling off soon.

Let's say its around $2600-$2700 levels now. Others say that the situation has someone calm now about the "Thursday Bloodbath". Its gonna be a boring phase but we sure love to see this that seeing the price go down everyday. This slow phase might run for a week before seeing going to reach the $3000 price. And remember in the next coming weeks Australia will be coming into the picture so we might see a really good price by July. And as long as you don't panic and manage not to sell then I think the opportunity to gain profit in the coming weeks looks good.

If you are old holder of bitcoin you know this already that the movement of the price is normal price drop and normal growth..
If we seen that the price was drop  at $2,300 value the price still in the level of high price that i think the price can be still increase more back again.
There are many traders are i think satisfied what the price increase from $2,900 and sold almost $600 and other people are panic sell that is why the price instead of increase back gain the price stay long in the present price..
So i hope those people who are holding bitcoin don't sell yours better to hold it for a long time because we will see large pump back again more $2,900 because i believe that it will happen.
Honestly I didn't get panic on seeing bitcoin prices falling from $2950 levels. Some news magazines are calling it Thursday bloodbath. Still I didn't lose my nerves. Because like you have mentioned we have seen many times bitcoin places were highly fluctuating ups and downs and bouncing back more quickly than ever. I hope this type of moments will be happening one more hundred times in near future and we can still have faith even at those times to have some huge price levels for bitcoin like in million dollars.

There could be many reasons for bitcoin prices for fluctuating like profit booking by whales and panic selling by novice traders but we should never forget bitcoin is finding its momentum among many big issues are persisting with it. It means fundamentally bitcoin is staying strong regardless of any seasonal problems.

do not panic !! Now prices start to improve and increase again, the price of some exchange has reached 2300USD. It seems yesterday only a short correction. It really affects the belief of bitcoin users, we see at this time that the volume of transactions began to run normally. It indicates the price of bitcoin began to rise again and ogled many people.
yes that is very normal to bitcoin price. i think currently we cannot expect any panic selling. because people are confident about the price  of bitcoin to increase and hope that this time it is going to cross 4000$ dollar because there are still too many good new to hear about bitcoin which will really make the price once again skyrocket.  and therefore i am also still holding my  bitcoins and not going to sell it.

Bitcoin, as well other crypto, incrased far too much, we have to be honest. We used to see the Bitcoin value incrasing by 50$ daily if not more. What more? Now we are paying the past insane incrase in the price value. Or in another word, we are getting back to the reality now. Not a bad one still  Grin

The reason is the Core/Blockstream are about to force a contentious fork on the blockchain.  This is about the same as a ship hitting an iceberg.  Maybe it will survive; maybe not.  But in either case, it is very fucking bad.

Blockstream thinks they own the blockchain and that they should be able to monetize all small transactions. They fucking ruined it.  Go buy Ethereum now.  Ethereum is the de facto world currency and monetary platform.  Even Microsoft (and many, many other important companies) is investing large teams of people to work on Ethereum integrations.  Ethereum is very well organized and moving forward with development.  Bitcoin has been infighting for 2 years now - making no progress at all.  How long are you going to wait around for a solution while the other platform flies like a rocket to the moon?  Bitcoin holders are fucked.  Especially once the fork hits.

Do you really think a two year Bitcoin war and those 'leaders' at Core are what you want to bet on? lol.  That is otherwise known as a 'pig fuck'.
Yeah bitcoin is basically fucked. I have invested most of my bitcoin in ethereum because it seems to be constantly rising in price.
We do not ave to worry about the price of bitcoin and have to be in strong believe in bitcoin and do not need to spend our bitcoin on any other asset because it is sure that in the long term the price of bitcoin will increase and all of the users will earn a high profit from it while other options are useless and baseless.

now at the moment on Bittrex the dollar value is back up to $2380
a stead rise from $1900, it might fall again but we are going through
a spell of turbulence or volatility but it should rise healthily
I think the little bearish will be happening in the future. but the bitcoin already made its comeback and try to rebound again. It will be back above $2500 as fast as possible. The bankers are trying to make the panic sells to the bitcoin market with released the junky statement about bitcoin. The bad news is bitcoin was added to the bill. Open this link.

I think the one going price drop to be the one which is just getting prepared for the next price pumping to reach $3000. It has been quite sustained for a long and now from the past few days after being close to $3000 the gradual decrease has happened and now nearing to $2500. Can expect a big price pumping in a short.
Yeah it has been like that for a few times right I mean the price would drop and some investors would wait till the price that they want,
Then suddenly the price would pump up because of those who bought a large number of bitcoin while it is at a low price so I am really waiting for the pump.

I always thought that bitcoin can't be destroyed from outside. What will actually happen is internal dispute and fracture of BTC which will lead to total crash.
Bitmain/Blockstram and idiots who think that they deserve to own blockchain are to blame. They are already rich and they thigh they can be even richer by stealing the cake.
Maybe I will sell all my BTC and end it all?

Who would know the entire and exact reason/s, right? It seems illogical to me (the price drop) since we are about to welcome Australia this coming July. It should have been going up by now since we only have half a month to witness this.

At some point, I have read a post in this forum that someone cashed out a huge amount of Bitcoin and it triggers the decline in Bitcoin's price.

When both bitcoin and altcoin price is going down, it only means one thing. People are cashing out their money. You can see the ecosystem going on. When the price of bitcoin in terms of dollar is increasing, then altcoin prices are going down (in bitcoin terms) and vice versa. But if both of them are going down, then the fiat money supplied is going down.

Apparently someone sold $839K worth of bitcoins. (Source) It's pretty annoying seeing people talking that ETH is starting to take over when in fact ETH is just crashing as much as bitcoin does. There's no competition going on at the moment, really. People are simply cashing out huge amounts of money.

best thing we can all do is just stop using bitcoin, sell it all , let the price drop back to $10-$15 and see how the miners with their asics feel with a 12.5 BTC block reward and no way to cover their mining costs.  Then once they've all gone bust we can get a functioning system back again - apologies to all those who will lose their shirts during the process though.

I doubt anyone would want the price to drop to that price and start over again. It may not even recover at all if it dropped that low even if it was initiated by users. And what is the assurance the problem won't repeat after your plan?

I was reading some articles claiming that a crash is about to happen and predicting every bad thing on earth, but that's just nothing more than an exaggerated statement to gain views

No. Not likely at all. If people were scared of the fork then they would have pulled out of bitcoin long ago, not now. It's not like they didn't have access to info that states that there is going to be a UASF at 1st August before this week.

Is the chinese market trading low?...

China probably doesn't have the #1 position in influence in btc anymore so no. This is due to their exchanges getting scrutinized by their central bank.

Just a correction. It may bounce up or it may just stay at this price level but it seems unlikely that it'll go down any further at the moment.

Thank for all for your opinion.
Its clear that there is many parameters:
-a coming soon update of btc and this create a little panic
-a roof a 3k$ not breakable (for the moment), and thats make a little panic
-its a normal situation when the price rising high and during pretty long time

What i can't understand is, because of ethereum should be a nice challenger of btc, if btc drop, eth should rise.
But it seems this is a global rectification after several rize for all money. And it is much more complex to understand, i think.

No way, I don't want to see the price of bitcoin back at 2 digits of dollar per bitcoin. For sure there are FUD that are being spread again into the bitcoin community and starts to make some false information for most of the users and it gives some fear to them if they won't sell today, China also is doing something crazy now.

Hi,
i'm trying to understand why all crypto and especially BTC is falling dow since 48h? It's because the fear of the segwit to come in several weeks? Is the chinese market trading low?...
I think this is currently the same big falling as the one of the previous 25 may.. it dropped of 33% in 4 days, now we see almost the same loss.. But i can't really know why.
Pierre

All good things have to come to an end, bitcoin prices are no exception.

The pump was a pretty long lasting one with several adjustments along the way, although bitcoin still was able to pull through all of them and keep on going up. It does seem like that the $3k was the final barrier that bitcoin isn't able to break, and when that wasn't able to happen i guess a lot of traders just panicked and sold their bitcoin for quite a cheap price, driving the price down.

I would say it's another correction of price that happens more or less regulary. Many altclooins have dropped also. But it's not the time for panic. In situation like this many users, especialy those unexperienced start to fear they will loose funds and want to sell as soon as possible. Don't fall for this.

Agreed. Maybe it's the final dump, maybe there is going to be more pumps coming. Either way there is no need to worry as long term bitcoin is going up for sure.

There is small little idiot in China who thinks he deserves all the power to control Bitcoin.
That's why we are dropping.
Typical FUD and empty talk in my opinion. I will sit it out as I have done before. What goes up will come down. And what is down will go up. This is Bitcoin!

Really? main reason is from china want to control btc? i think its extremly dangerous to let chinese people to get the 75% of crypto because of the government could do anything anytime by not respecting any rules. This could be becoming a economic war (because usa is nearly dead). But this is my neebie opinion.

Why? The lower the price drops, the cheaper you will be able to buy some more bitcoins. Most of this is just short-term speculators running around like headless chickens and selling when they see the slightest drop in the price. I just love it when the price drops like this. Last time I was able to buy loads of cheap coins and I sold it for triple the value I bought it at. < Yes, I had to wait for a year, but I made huge profits >

The distribution of coins are spread uneven, with a small percentage of people owning a lot of coins and then a large percentage of people owning a small percentage of the remaining coins. This makes bitcoin price manipulation possible, when a few of these whales dump some coins. < They dump, wait for the price to drop and buy in cheap again when other people start to panic sell >   ^smile^

no, this is the way to go, i'm not long in crypto and already
this year I have seen this rise and drop in value
and people buying and selling in a frenzy.

play it cool, buy low!  Wink

best thing we can all do is just stop using bitcoin, sell it all , let the price drop back to $10-$15 and see how the miners with their asics feel with a 12.5 BTC block reward and no way to cover their mining costs.  Then once they've all gone bust we can get a functioning system back again - apologies to all those who will lose their shirts during the process though.

Sooooo much bs you've written here!
Pure lies and twisting facts in your own favour.
This is embarrassing, extremely obvious and pretty lame.
I hope the noobies here read and research on their own to see and understand what's the truth here.

This. The risk is such that it makes sense to switch to fiat and wait and see what happens - which is why the price is falling.

As long as  bitcoin stays above $ 2000 no need to panic cause its still a high value. Once it drops below that line expect the things to get worst, panic selling cant be stop at that moment.

Can't really say specifically what may be wrong. Could be as a result of the upcoming fork and the fact that it is gradually becoming inevitable. Nevertheless, it is strange though as over 95% of the coins listed on coinmarketcap had dropped hugely in value within the last 24hrs. Hmm... Watching in 4D. Let's just hope it is the usual high and lows we always experience.

Do not really know what is it, but every time it pulls back some people get scared and later (weeks or months) it ends recovering. I prefer to just wait and have patience. Did not expect the recent raise from the 1000's to the 2000's anyway, so better not panic now.

all of the rest of the crypto are dumping because they were in a big ass bubble and it was time for them to get dumped although not all of them have started their dumping phase yet. so be careful when they start things will get nasty.

as for bitcoin as others have said it is the scaling debate all over again. bitmain post started it and then the idiotic panic started like it always does!

Yeah bitcoin is basically fucked. I have invested most of my bitcoin in ethereum because it seems to be constantly rising in price.

If people are not careful, the Ethereum blockchain will be the primary vehicle for their economic enslavement. Im still sticking to BTC, and go to monero when things got tough. Just an opinion.

I think the one going price drop to be the one which is just getting prepared for the next price pumping to reach $3000. It has been quite sustained for a long and now from the past few days after being close to $3000 the gradual decrease has happened and now nearing to $2500. Can expect a big price pumping in a short.

Are you fuckin crazy? Telling people to invest in a scam? Ethereum is going to go down like the Titanic and everyone is warning people about the iceberg and the greedy people are just ignoring it. You seriously want to tell people to invest in a technology where there is centralized control, where they protect their profits with things like the DAO? The founders think by blurring the lines with clever terminology and hiding behind non-profit smoke screens, they can escape the SEC investigation?

Wow, How can people be so blinded by greed? ^grrrrrrrr^
