It sounds like a LETS (Local Exchange Trading Sytem) - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Local_exchange_trading_system - but on an international scale.

Hmm if that were so surely the person offering lessons need not have waited to sell a lesson but could instead have gone to visit Spain and reported to the record-keeping site that the person in Spain had contributed however many whatevers by putting someone up on their couch?

I get the feeling this is more sinister, that the "we take the macroeconomics off your hands" basically means they get to make up money like the Federal Reserve and sell it to people.

Maybe, I just read about it in TechCrunch - Italians Take Up The Torch To Ignite Their Own Tech Startup Scene - http://techcrunch.com/2012/09/30/italians-take-up-the-torch-to-ignite-their-own-tech-startup-scene/ - and thought it worth sharing.

What if someone makes an exchange? Then I can buy it.

Sure but what I am getting at is who prints it and how much of it how fast.

This is not at all clear about what it is.

It sounds like ripple but I suspect not, since it did not make clear and explicit in it example of the person buying lessons that they invented the credits themselves that they paid for the lessons? Furthermore why did the person giving the lessons for 30 dropis go like oh wow now I can go visit Spain if in fact she could already have done that anyway simply by issuing credits she invented herself to the person in Spain.

In short, there is no indication of how visitors to your website get hold of any dropis in the first place in order to give you some.

Do they simply issue them as credit themselves?
