That is almost the same with the real bitcointalk site! If you do not check the links you may not notice that the fake and the real site are different from each other. Do not try to make any transactions with links that seem to be unfamiliar to you.  It may be a phising site that may steal your account and all information that is connected to your account. Always check first the links and if you notice that there is something wrong with that page do not try to log in.

The creator of this site definitely took his or her time and it surely looks very much like the original except missing the login or registration botton and some other key icons on it but yeah, it's confusing for which purpose it was made and untill that purpose is made clear to the public, I won't support for it's usage or it continuing to exist.
At least we know the reason behind the creation of bitcointalk.org, LoyceV, Tryninja, DdmrDdmr and others tools and how to make use of it and besides, these tools were announced to the public by their creators using this forum. It's obvious this site has some sort of link or should I say the user copy's and paste or what ever tools the creator users to create duplicates of posts and it doesn't seem cool to me. I'll hate for anything to go wrong!

So, someone wrote a scrapper and is gonna copy whole bitcointalk?
I highly doubt this website will be used for phishing purposes because even domain name isn't good for that. Maybe this website is gonna keep all the information that will be posted here and keep it even in case if something gets deleted by moderator or removed by a user, a tool similar of Loycev's but in live action via form of bitcointalk. Seems they put original links for bitcoin client download. But I don't understand why there is numeration changed on Marketplace section.
I don't know what to say but it's clear that everyone just F*cks this forum and I don't understand what the hell they want from it.

I got surprised when I see every bitcointalk post in duplicate site. They haven't any user panel and registration system. Don't know what is their main aim. But, I suggest everyone avoid download files from there. They can insert malware in files. We don't know who they are, So better to avoid them.

I wouldn't call that site a phishing site since there is no log in form that will get your username and password when you submit. This site is like an archive that only copy the contents in this forum to that site and also trying to promote a charity program. The one who created that may be looking for traffic but it can't as explain in previous post.

Its kinda funny to see a website like bitcointalk. I think they just want to make some sorts of entertainments around since there is no signup or login button. Most of all, we are also duplicated on that website. Up to now, there is no sign of fraud or phishing. Hope that they will not use the fake website to harm anyone

Also they might be analyzing first as how much traffic they are getting daily and may have a long term plan to get into user's personal information.
I guess the creator will not have any desire for this issue. And if he does, he will only receive small traffic daily. It is kinda easy to spot a fake website like that. Most of bitcointalk users understand how to keep away from an unusual website like this one

This is a phishing site even and using all these sites is stupid. In fact, it could be that they are carrying out a conspiracy to steal our bitcointalk password. On the other hand, they may want to search our personal wallet and try to hack it later. So be carefully and avoid it.
We are talked above, this isn't phishing purpose because of no login button, Imposible to stealing password if the user didn't insert it.

They currently don't have a login button does not mean that they are safe. They can anytime insert a login dialog box to steal the usernames and passwords. Also they might be analyzing first as how much traffic they are getting daily and may have a long term plan to get into user's personal information.
For sure, they made this site with some purpose which we are unable to understand now.

So, is it a phishing site or are they trying to replicate the success of bitcointalk? I wouldn't trust it at all and I hope people don't get tricked and try to log in using the same username and pass they use for bitcointalk.

If you are so afraid of it, go to "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc" and create a new line in your hosts file (assuming you are using windows) and paste down this line:

Code:
127.0.0.1 www.bitcointalksearch.org

and save.

From now on, you won't be able to reach this website even if you clicked its link by mistake.

I wouldn't say I'm afraid of it but I am worried for newbies falling into scams and i'm also curious about the purpose of it. However, this tip can be proven useful in the future, so thanks for that.

The site shows an exact copy paste of the original site here, I don't see any reason for using this site as a phishing one because its just a testing techniques done by the impersonator but doesn't mean we should trust them, no login and sign up button so what's the gain of it, it seems to me that s(he) isn't done with the site, it would be better if the site should be checked regularly to know their next plan in the future, maybe I will keep that in mind.

I'm really surprise seeing names of active members with signature and avatar, and mods also, on the fake site, I'm pretty sure the impersonator is one of the active member here.

Just because there's no login that doesn't means it isn't one.

Judging by the menu, it hasn't included the rest such as the members and login yet.

Even the URLs aren't complete or return a 404.

As far as I can see, there is no any log in options that can be seen.
So it's no way a phising site, can't get any passwords, username, nor e-mail.
I see this just a web dev practice of someone(probably a forum member).

Still, there is a chance that this website can make a duplicate log in button the same as the original because the creator already copied the navigation at the top, so there is a chance they can do the same, I still doubting the use of this website, is this only for search about the bitcoin talk or there is any hidden agenda right there. I think the original creator must need to explain if he/she is right here to enlighten other members about things happen.

I think we need to keep an eye on this website.

I've seen many forums that used that same design as what bitcointalk.org has.
I've seen it on other language too, forum games(with exactly same design).
Not sure if those who used the same design of this forum are okay, but it seems that it is.

It seems to be like a sort of hobby project of someone. The only reason I wouldn't call this a site for phishing, is that there's no login options like you said, and with taking a look at some pages, I currently don't see anything sketchy about it. The signature space is removed too.

With that said, of course, the site owner could add a fake login option mainly for phishing anytime in the future.
Maybe it is as you've said, just maybe a hobby gone viral or the owner of the site intends to showcase creativity with a mindset of posting it here but then, it could go wrong as the motives remains unknown.
Perhaps that which is not available now might be added later to serve various purposes. Besides, most newbies just might not know and some curious Bitcoin or cryptocurrency enthusiast might access it mistaking it for the original and the later result would be relayed here but by then, the damage would have been done already and with the nature of the crypto space, undoing what have been done or follow up is always rather too difficult or impossible. So, I still don't see the need for a duplicate with links. If anyone do, please be so kind and let us know perhaps, the site owner.

@OP how did you manage to stumble upon this website because I've searching "Bitcointalk" in Google and it is not showing up even on the second page?
I found it by accident. I read this thread and try searching on google search using "Karartma1 satoshi" keyword. You will see more like, thebitcointalk.net either.

It probably got a hit with the SEO since it being a duplicate of Bitcointalk the thread you first saw the keyword is also in the clone's website which I think this is the reason why it is showing up in the search results. I also tried searching the keywords and indeed it showed up in the first page but it is 2nd to the last one before going to the 2nd page, the search result is giving me a link for their "Pizza for bitcoins?" thread.

The only thing what can be achieved is to connect your IP with the information you are searching and somehow try to connect your main account with the used IP. Use VPN or TOR if you going to open it. I found this thread as well so it is quite updated, just the sorting of posts is opposite.

Only knowing the IP wont do any harm. I just visited the site and they may have tracked my IP. But they never know who am i on bitcointalk. They can't detect my username from my ip. So collecting only IP's are useless i guess. Maybe they have some other intentions.

@BitMaxz using the name of the threads in the links is maybe a way to steal some traffic from the original forum, and get higher in the Search results. I see they did the same with the users. The link to a user is a combination of ID and Username.

No it will hard for this website to get rank and get traffic from the SERP, all of their contents are plagiarize, Google is always detects duplicate and plagiarism so they will out rank and remove on the SERP.

Since our forum has high-autority score they can't get or steal any traffic from the forum. Never heard someone succeed on getting traffic and get rank by duplicating a website.

Maybe the owner of the website doesn't know how SEO works and trying to promote the charity without following the "Google seo guidelines"(He might be thinking that he can get traffic so easily due to popularity of our forum).

While he is correct, if you just do that ^^ you'll get a confusing "Access Denied" message.

Easiest way to do this is type "notepad" in the search bar, right click on the "Notepad" result and choose "run as administrator".   Then open the file
Code:
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

@OP how did you manage to stumble upon this website because I've searching "Bitcointalk" in Google and it is not showing up even on the second page? There is a potential that the designer of this website might go live and turn into a phishing website, all he has to do is to fake up the log-in page to fool people so I think informing everyone about a Bitcointalk clone is important

It seems to be like a sort of hobby project of someone. The only reason I wouldn't call this a site for phishing, is that there's no login options like you said, and with taking a look at some pages, I currently don't see anything sketchy about it. The signature space is removed too.

Yeah but it has the potential to be one since they have a chance to change their website and if this is just a "hobby project" why would they make it on a live domain when designing a website can be done on offline means.

I think it will hobby project as said by Mk4 or probably phishing in future but people need to be more careful as advised cause I have once seen a site like this before when I was doing some research online but the site was later shut down couldn't provide evidence that the site exists cause I'm unaware of archiving site then.
I will advise the OP to add the site archive link to the OP page for future purposes.

It is not the first bitcointalk clone website forum and they probably made it for some phishing scams and stealing members username and password information. Maybe it will help if we all report them to google and their domain also.
I see they are missing menu tabs and they probably have some custom login link. DO NOT TRY TO LOG IN

How can that be possible, because what we think that will work out at times,it doesn't work the way we expected, the question is that from your analysis has you tried it and it's work out for you. Because using VPN it depends the type or level of VPN used because some VPN does not work except that we use the strong one.

But is not that I'm disputing your suggestion but trying to get more points from your direction or description, shall everything is based on practical, I will ensure that I practicalised these so that I can testify these if such comes across again.

Indeed, phishing only occurs when a user did an INPUT of his account's login credentials on a fake website, in which the accused website here does not have. I think they only did this for tests or traffic purposes, that they would soon change this onto something much useful, or they might still be developing the phishing codes for this website yet they've published everything sooner. Its been only months since this is registered. I guess the makers of this alt website will update this soon. But as a warning, better not engage nor access this website, not until the further confirmation of its legitimacy.

Well for me, there might something on this fake site there might be phishing sites under that website even they don't have a login page how about the links from threads or button on the site. Maybe one or many links from this site could be a phishing link if you click it can lead you to a phishing site that looks legit.

I tried to check their backlinks on Ahrefs but it seems they only have 8 backlinks linking to coupon sites where I think they are trying to use the bitcointalk forum as a landing page to promote a thread?

Look:
Code:
bitcointalksearch.org/topic/listopen-merit-source-applicationswaiting-list-5197548/6-page.html
bitcointalksearch.org/topic/zero-coupon-bonds-catastrophe-bonds-based-mining-pool-5268474

This is the only two he promoted on other sites. That one(The merit source topic) has ads with the charity he might be trying to lead visitors in that ads "Ads: Support Bitcointalk Charity Program".

I guess that's why you should always double check the links you click while browsing, especially when it comes to crypto related websites. There are not only various scam/fake projects out there, scammers tend to copy whole websites to give you the impression you are logging in on the correct website, but you aren't.

Certain Bitcointalk accounts are valuable and people try to steal them obviously. So beware and always check on which website you are entering your details (even if it's not possible on the duplicate you mentioned above!).

Forum stats are different. The fake forum has smaller figures. No login so it is not a phishing site but be careful of backdoor risks.
