So, I have a friend who I managed to get involved in the cryptocurrency industry around the middle of 2018, explaining all use cases to him and how the current bear market is actually the best time to start learning although not investing in the industry. For the last six months or so, he’s been spending a decent amount of time per week learning about crypto on his own also using resources that I’ve given him. He’s also begun to involve his family, wife, and even extended family in learning about this. Now I have no reservations in bringing him on board, or him bringing his family on board, because I gave a strict understanding to him not to invest with money but to invest with time. As I believe it’s very important to invest as much time as possible in understanding this new technology rather than just jumping in and investing a bunch of money that you may lose. Also, I truly believe that the benefits of investing time to learn and understand this technology will become more profitable in the future, as this technology begins to square itself away and improve for the masses.

So to get onto the main reason why I’m posting, during my friend’s learning process and by extension his family’s learning process, they come to me whenever they have questions they don’t seem to easily find answers to themselves. And it’s funny because in this experience I basically see the exact same type of questions from different people asked me in varying ways, and I find it funny that each one of them basically come up with the same questions and rather than communicating to each other they all end up individually asking the same questions.

So my question to you guys, is when you began learning about cryptocurrency, what were some of the biggest questions/ problems that you had during the learning process? How did you solve or answer these questions? And if you could go back to when you were learning, what do you think or wish would’ve existed to help speed up your learning and understanding journey?

Also, post a question that you may have now about the crypto currency as a technology or an economic system that you may not understand currently and want an answer to.

I thank you wholeheartedly for promoting cryptocurrency, not as an investment but as knowledge/technology. That's the right way! I can see a lot of new threads in this forum every single day with the end goal of speculating price. People show their frustration and rant about it because they have lost thousands of dollars from their bitcoin/crypto investment. These class of people actually care less about the technology and more concerned about their profits.

While I was learning about cryptos during mid 2015, I ended up here searching answers to my questions. Since then, Bitcointalk is the biggest knowledge resource to me, till date! Whenever I have any doubt, I do google search and I just add "bitcointalk" at the end of the question so that I can get to the proper resource. That was always my approach since the beginning.

Thank you for your words. As you say "Whenever I have any doubt, I do google search" can you remeber times when you have done this and what those issues/doubts were that had you research on then? Im searching to find out what are the things that people struggle with learning or get stuck on

In bear market, learning, researching and asking constructive questions are highly important.
Sometimes, one could use historic past data to make some trading decisions that will benefit him.For example, bitcoin hit $20k in December, 2017,and those guys that have witnessed the bear market in the past took profit at the time newbies were buying at the top thinking that 20k resistance will be broken which never happened.
In the bear market, one needs to learn how to be patient to the extent that one should not be opening position when the price of crypto has gone up.So,we also learn that this is the time one needs to be accumulating perceived Cryptos that give him huge profit once bull run start.

So would you say that you have found an understanding/answers to those questions that you mentioned?

I sure did.

Do you feel that there could have been a better or faster solution VS. bitcointalk?  More helpful and complete guidance through guides/video tutorials/ courses etc.  Instead of the Bitcointalk  searching all over the place for bits and pieces of information on different threads?

I never felt so. Although the forum doesn't teach you like a tutor, nor does the members of it, but I've never felt like it lacks any kind of information you may need when it comes to cryptocurrencies, especially Bitcoin. It's a self-learning kind of a thing where the material is present but you have to learn them by yourself, or you can even ask for help if the material present for you doesn't totally satisfy your hunger for knowledge.

Oddly enough , but the learning process begins on the bear market and only when many begin to step on the rake, get on the head and lose their money. After all, only after that a person begins to think and ask this question:WHY?

When the market is in the bull phase-everyone thinks that they know enough (including me) and they succeed... What is difficult to trade when the profit is growing every day and do not have to come up with any strategies. This self-confidence in consequence leads to the loss of money and analysis of their failures.
Coming to the market is not on the Hai is a very competent solution and learn to get out of difficult situations very much the right quality in this market. Do not always believe that the trend will always be green and you know this market. You have to be realistic and learn to admit your mistakes - then you will lose less and stay in this market to earn.

when you began learning about cryptocurrency, what were some of the biggest questions/ problems that you had during the learning process?

Questions:
1. What is mining? How is it done and what does it do?
2. How does a transaction go by? (Since I didn't know about mining/miners)

Problems:
1. HYIP scams. Lost a lot of my initial Bitcoins to them since I was new and didn't have any knowledge about them.

How did you solve or answer these questions?

Bitcointalk, mostly. I used to search about them on my own out of this forum since I wasn't a member here at that time, but if I be honest, I've learnt most of the things after joining this forum.

if you could go back to when you were learning, what do you think or wish would’ve existed to help speed up your learning and understanding journey?

I wish I had found Bitcointalk a bit earlier during my journey which could've save me from the losses I had to bear, and I would've definitely learn the things more quicker.

The big problem for me now is understanding the market and how it works. I try to study it in order to have an idea when it is possible to invest and when it is better to wait. I believe that now is the time to study it, because when the hype passes no one thinks about how to invest properly.

What do you feel you are trying to learn specifically about the market and how works? What are you getting stuck on, what are you trying to learn and understand? Maybe I can help answer some of these questions for you

I appreciate the fact that you saying people should invest their time first and then invest their money and that would solve the problem of uneducated people losing money, but I have a better strategy.

Bitcoin is a hands-on technology, so you understand so much more, if you buy a little bit and then play with it. I advise new people to buy a small amount of bitcoin and then to play with it. Once they get the feel for it, they start buying more on their own.   Cool

Well yes of course, when I speak about how I tell people to invest their time rather than their money it is because the term "investing" to me means putting a significant amount into something with the hopes of future growth. Of course I advised them to have small amounts of the crypto's they are interested in learning about, as utilizing something you're interested in learning about is a whole part of the learning experience. Just not Investing, I.E.putting a significant amount of finances into crypto, without having invested a SIGNIFICANT amount of TIME in learning.  As I actually believe there are more use cases, and profit potential, through learning the ins and outs of crypto's, then there is just investing some money. Through knowledge, there are endless opportunities and use cases that can provide financial reward, a much higher chance of profit success with large amounts of diversity VS.  Investing money into something and only being able to hope price goes up to profit.

this is not a bearmarket, you all want it to be a bearmarket, but its not.

Well, the point of my post wasn't actually centered around "bear market". So whatever phrase you want to use, downturn, price lowered, correction, etc. The idea is more about helping new users on their learning curve about cryptocurrency, mentioning the current stance on the market as a good time to be more concerned about helping and teaching then just putting money in and investing. Since many people have lost money. So in general I'm just questioning what you may have struggled with in your learning experience when you were first learning about cryptocurrency's, and what insights you may have on your particular struggles from the past, because I find that one of the fastest assistant's in learning something is learning what others people's problems were and how they fixed them.  I feel it helps to prevent a lot of people from going through the same process, potentially getting stuck on the same things, when that can be prevented through knowledge shared by others that have gone through those experiences.

So to the question again that I was originally attempting to propose, what struggles can you remember or barriers or any particular type of hindrance in your learning curve, and what did you do to solve that, or what would you have liked to see existed to solve that issue more easily?

Yes this a great opportunity for the new comers in this forum, crypto is unpredictable and this situation is a genuine example as how the market plays. During this kind of market it is advisable to ask some question to experts or professional so once you conduct own investment or trading you might avoid some losses and you can manage the risks. You need to learn more so you can easily earn money from cryptocurrencies and in this kind of market.

it is always going to be different for each person and it mostly depends on the reasons why they are here in first place. for example the questions that someone who is here purely for investment and making profit are very different from questions of someone who is here because of the technology and because he wants to use a decentralized currency and it is different from when someone is here because he wants to start a business with cryptocurrencies like offering a service since this market is still lacking a lot of them.

if we only focus on investors then we can limit the questions. for me the biggest question was why are so many altcoins exist while they are all the same and offer nothing in particular. and I was always confused about pump and dumps, although I never knew they were pump and dumps.

This is one of the best opportunities to learn. For the inexperienced there are little trading opportunities in this market and so it is wise to use the time to learn. In a bullish market there are infinite opportunities that you cannot spare the time to learn. If you had knowledge prior to those market conditions you could take advantage of the best opportunities.

Ever since the bear market started, I began studying about the past cycles of the market and how it relates to the current cycle we're in. I'll admit I'm quite a noob in trading and TA so I rarely or never comment on topics with the said subject involved, just read what other users are talking and drawing a line from that post to other resources of information to expand my knowledge. I might not be trading full-time now as I used to do a few months back, but knowing how markets work and how TA helps in some ways might help me get my feet wet on mutual funds and the local stock market scene.

So, when you began learning about cryptocurrency can you remember any big things that you may have gotten stuck on understanding for a bit? What were the most difficult things for you about cryptocurrency and learning about it when you first started to follow this space?

Do you feel the main use of cryptocurrency is to follow the market and learning charts/TA to trade? Would you consider any deeper knowledge on any other areas of Crypto, or just on the trading side is where you focus?

The easiest thing to do is look at historic charts and trends. It always rises in the long term so you can simply buy and then forget about it. Come back after a year ot two and buy yourself a new car
