Rumor has it that Dwolla will be the exclusive digital currency administrator for Facebook using the bitcoin model.

Yawn...

I'm not charged fees to pay with a credit card. The merchant pays fees to accept them. Why not have the merchant pay the $3 fee?

The $3 is once a month.
Once a month is a lot more often then never.  The point is, just use a credit card if you do not have the money and pay it off at the end of the month.  That would be just as useful as what Dwolla is offering.

I agree, the fee is not too high, but I still have no idea why I would need to use that service.

I'm guessing it's easier to get. Also you can use it with Dwolla so a lot of Bitcoiners will jump on it probably.
I do like that it's simple but simple (vague / non existent) Dwolla policies haven't been kind in the past

I like the idea of instant transfers but I don't do enough to justify $3 a month. What about adding a per-transfer option for say $0.50? I would probably pay that.

While Dwolla's instant ACH can be nice for some (and might hurt others), it is not a big deal.  This is not a new innovation nor is it even an unexpected or cool feature.  Simply put, it is not big.

Is anyone else worried about Dwolla's future with the vote on SOPA later today? I would assume they might be one of the financial websites targeted by such a bill.

Are you concerned DC will shut down Dwolla or just prevent them from working with the exchanges?  I have a different scenario. Dwolla, seeing Bitcoin as a competitor, lobbies DC to use SOPA to prevent any financial institution in the US from working with Bitcoin exchanges.  Why provide a better product when it's cheaper and easier to have the government outlaw your competition.  I would hope it happens the other way, Dwolla views the exchanges as partners that provide paying customers.  I wonder how many of their users are bitcoin users.

If Dwolla and SCVNGR have come up with a mobile near instant ACH network, using scanned QR codes and smartphones for payments at merchants, will it be good or bad for Bitcoin?

It's interesting that Paypal suddenly seems to be collaborating with Bitinstant. Could it have anything to do with Dwolla's announcement?

For some time now, Dwolla has been hinting at an instant-transaction mechanics within their finance network. In March 2011, many thought that the service would be brining that with instant ACH bank-to-bank transfers with FiSync.

If the payment network company does come out with instant-transfer finance mechanisms it will bring about a revolution of rapid-liquidity for Bitcoin transactions.

This blog is dated a month later than the OP. So yeah, that's it.

Big announcement for Dwolla on Thursday. What will it be? Anything that can impact Bitcoin (positively or negatively)? For myself I don't have a clue.
