Bitcoin is successful because it has the potential to circumvent regulation... Some people think it should be illegal and it does not have any useful functions for society. Perhaps Bitcoin will play a key role in certain gray areas in the next ten years

Yes, i think in the next ten years btc will consolidate the functions its currently playing. The functions are; 1. measure of value: Which means btc will be adopted by businesses and individuals as means of payment. 2. store value: Which means that btc will be regarded as one of the best investment asset, perhaps it would be the digital gold at the time.

It is very clear that btc is a better version of egood.

"What do you think will be the role of Bitcoin in 10 years from now?

That of tulips, minus the decorative and commercial value of tulips, with a lot of blockchain engineers, consultants, attorneys, pundits and VCs seeking to find euphemisms to move that part of their resume into the memory hole."

I will let you comment but is he doing the banks game now that e-gold is long time busted?  Grin

I sense the e-gold founder is being sentimental and not objective. he would have objectively compare the good sides of btc to e-gold or stablecoin to e good and also do the same to the down sides of both currencies.

Well, i feel with his mindset he does not see opportunities in the blockchain technology supporting cryptocurrency, as such he would achieve very little success in trying to use traditional software for financial solutions

i think there's a lot thread like this but in my opinion bitcoin will stay alive like other currency and people start adopt blockchain technology and pay with bitcoin/altcoin will pop up in everywhere and centralized technology start adopt crypto tech -> Decentralized Storage and now Decentralized Finance in coming next year those centralized tech will do same adoption

I don’t think there should be much change in the Bitcoin market within ten years. For the rich, Bitcoin is a means of saving assets, while for ordinary people, they may be able to make a little money by taking the opportunity to make money. It takes time to replace the U.S. dollar and gold.

However, if he had begun buying bitcoin and holds many, I reckon he would be telling everyone a different story. This will happen to everyone. The rich, the poor and also Michael Saylor hehehe.

Michael Saylor from 2013 on bitcoin.

He just wanted to create a sound in this industry. No doubt since he is an actor, he can do all the dramas, too. And he did create egold for what? To solve economic problems?  Does it help now?

“e-gold was never about gold. It was fundamentally focused on payments and settlement.”

Said the one who are fan of gold standard and name it for gold itself. Hes now creating fud like Elon did.

bockchain will shut down the bank game system.
This won't happen because the banks and institutions are pretty open to the technology already. Their thoughts and views about bitcoin and blockchain are changing this time. Before they were too doubtful and skeptical towards it but as the year passes by and these two have been hitting the world and adoption is increasing. Well, as for Douglas he just has to accept innovation changes year after year and bitcoin is just getting started.

I believe 10 years from now they will see bitcoin silence Egold and all the gods they have played with. bockchain will shut down the bank game system. We are waiting with blockchain technology significant changes to keep coming.

Most likely an attempt to use Bitcoin and gain traffic. Some people give very pessimistic views or highly optimistic ones to make media headlines and draw attention to their projects. Some others simply try and loosely link their projects to bitcoin to achieve the same result.

Everyone could have an opinion on Bitcoin and a choice to hold it or not based on their opinion. Do not base your choice on the opinion of others (i.e, do not fall for FUD or FOMO).

Trying to make a wave in the market about his opinion but guess what, he is not Elon Musk.  Tongue Most individuals are giving their own opinion hoping that it may create an impact in the market. We have seen these many times already. Most of them have ulterior motives, and basically they have selfish objectives. They are just like ordinary people giving their prediction for what may happen with bitcoin 5 or 10 years from now. So nothing special I believe when it comes to their opinion.

Yea he isnt happy with the Cypherpunk era, they had similar projects:

1997 – HASHCASH was created by Adam Back and is formally referred to as “"Hashcash - A Denial of Service Counter-Measure"
1998 – BITGOLD was created by Nick Szabo. This was a decentralised digital currency which was never launched.
1998 – B MONEY essay was created by Wei Dai and referenced a type of “proof of work” system to create an anonymous and distributed digital currency.

Like E-Gold none of them made it but without them Bitcoin may not exist.

Maybe he's trying to buy cheap and says those things to drive demand down. He wouldn't be the first.

Now seriously. It's probably jealousy, as the fellows have commented. There are times when emotions make you look like an idiot.

Jealousy speaking. You can see it by the way he completely dismisses all qualities of Bitcoin. He knows it's popular and many smart people support it, but he talks about it like it's nothing. You may like something or not, but be objective. It's not fake and it's not some kind of an investment scheme. When people talk about it this way they make fools of themselves.

He's maybe jealous of Bitcoin and that e-gold didn't make it.

Crypto-currencies, token, DeFi and the whole eco-system is much sophisticated than his e-gold.
