I think it'd be too easy to have an address that somebody else could or has acquired if it's so short and simplistic like that. I do believe in Satoshi's original views and ideas. There was a reason behind why he made addresses the way that he did. Not to say that there isn't always room for alternative cases or improvement. It's just to say that there's always a reason behind everything.

After reading this negative comments, I see that this project have many flaws. I'm not an expert but I can see when something is not good, so as a customer I wouldn't use this kind of service.
Why would I pay for something that isn't safe and doesn't work good? I like how things are now, everything working good.
Maybe is better to change your project while its time, don't spend time and energy on something that doesn't have future.

One flaw that hasn't been mentioned:

It's generally not a good idea to reuse addresses (for security, and privacy), so there's no point paying to have a short version of one particular address.

I have a  idea that i would be working on soon. I am planning to develop a site where the user would enter their BTC then they would get a short link so that they don't need to remember the whole address. This would make exchange of address easier. Now the user would have to remember just a 2 digit number. To customize the link address, the user would pay few satoshis to get a custom link.

There's btcaddr.es already and it's free. I doubt that people will pay for your service only to make it 2 chars instead of maybe 5 or so....

Project won't work for a number of reasons.

a ] Limited two digit numbers (That's the main reason cryptography was invented )

b ] How is this plan going to make address easy to use anyway ? Two digit or any digit number is not the mode of payment in any of the exchanges.

c ] Exchanges will have to keep a separate database of corresponding addresses with numbers.

With only two digits, only 99 available ? or "username or nick" more 2 numbers ? Also i normaly revise two times the address before sending any amount of bitcoins, how secure would be a shortener ?

tinyurl or any service can do that. But what if you decide to give a different address, and scam people? Why trust your site?

this, also what if the site is down? Why only two digits? Whats once the (2*26+10)2+1 address needs shortening?

There are some of the services were present in the past. If you dig bitcointalk you can see lot of address shortening services for free. However, good luck to your project. I don't understand the 2 digit to represent an address and short customized link?
The two digit characters would be for addresses shortened earlier. For eg: example.com/23 or example.com/sq
The customized one would be like : example.com/apoorv
