If you have an old workstation or even a newish one you can use it to install the SONM OS on it. This makes it ready to use as a 'rentable' computer where you sell your processing power in exchange for SONM tokens.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, meaning a desktop setup just for doing crypto related stuff like wallet management or trading crypto. Paranoid about using my house computer for managing cause its shared with many people.

You don't really need a guide for this. Get a new PC (preferrably one you assemble on your own), install an OS (preferrably Linux as it is easier to secure), fire it up, and only use it for crypto related stuff while following basic internet security guidelines. There's no need for fancy, techy set ups as most screw ups in the crypto space could be avoided with better judgement anyway.

If you want one that could double as a miner, you might want to try the Mining section as they could give more specific advice for your hardware needs.

Hey thanks for the reply. But what about creating air-gapped computers? Is there a good guide somewhere?

Hey rabbitfairferry, unless you are a security expert, it is very hard to create air-gapped computers. There are just so many things that can go wrong in creating such a computer. And even if you do succeed in creating one, do note that air-gapped computers can still be penetrated. Read more about how the Stuxnet jumped the air gap. For most users, the best bet would be to just stick with a hardware wallet like what some of the users above have recommended. There is also a paper somewhere about jumping the air gap would link it if I can find it.

You dont need a guide really. Just some common sense and basic knowledge.
If you have a spare computer reinstall your OS, Windows 10 (Genuine) or Linux on that machine. Get yourself an AntiVirus software.
Dont use this computer for any other online activities, that is the important part. So no movies, music, especially downloads, torrents, xxx.
Make sure that any wallet you download comes from the manufacturers website or official website of the crypto currency it is meant for. If you have a lot of assets you should really consider getting a hardware wallet. The Ledger Nano S is only $59 now, it used to be a lot more expensive.
Be sceptical and careful of any links, dont click on any, dont use emails and download attachments on your crypto-PC, you dont need that, you have you other machine for that.
And like I said, common sense, that is the most important thing of all.

Care to explain more with this "workstation".

What's on my mind is on how to place a workstation/workplace for freelancing crypto related jobs you have and setting up your table? like that?

OP need to be more specific but my guess is OP is not looking for mining advice. I guess he specifically looking for wallet security.
Might be dedicated workstation where can put all of crypto.

I will suggest you to buy hardware wallet like trezor and nano. Keep most of your balance as cold wallet and only put some spare changes for daily expenditures.

The workstation that you will use for crypto , make sure you are not downloading any browser extensions/software etc until you are not 100% sure that are safe. Also use good antivirus on that workstation.

Yes, wallet management is one reason for having a dedicated desktop for managing my crytpo. Is there a guide somewhere on setting up such a workstation?

Well if you want to start mining I don't think that there is an easy way to achieve that.
Mining in cryptocurrency requires huge electric power and your system has to be functioning well

What actually you are looking for? Are you looking for a way how to build your own miner?

Check this thread it seems that he mention about workstation including the guide how to build it https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/building-cheap-miners-my-secret-1955358

For other guide how to build mining rig you can try this one http://www.coinminingrigs.com/how-to-build-a-6-gpu-mining-rig/

Would like to ask senior members whether there are any good guides around on how to create workstations that are solely meant for processing crypto?

Thank you.
