Local backups are now available in Eclair Mobile. That's a good alternative for those who don't trust Google. Backups are always encrypted; it doesn't matter which method you choose. Both of them can be used at the same time. Also, it's possible to receive payments over the Lightning Network but this will cause the default timelocks to change.

It has been re-released... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fr.acinq.eclair.wallet.mainnet2

Note the "mainnet2" designation. It is effectively a completely separate app as they are unable to replace the original due to lack of signing key.

I finally tested it. And it works very well. Simple, intuitive and reasonably reliable. Unfortunately, the only use I had was to test, I did not find anything that I could buy using LN.

is the app coming back better to the app store, anyone?
The app got removed from the Play Store after the devs lost the key used to update the app and there was some important bugs that had to be fixed. They also said on Twitter that they will release it again soon.

It says that you can't backup your channels. But how does that exactly work?

Does that mean that now you will need more than your seed (maybe a backup file?) to access your funds and open channels? Or is this only an issue with the Eclair wallet?

I guess that you can already backup your channels on some desktop clients by simply copying the file containing information about them. However, isn't there a risk of having an old state of channel which could lead to penalty transaction being broadcasted? lnd 0.4 changelog has some information about making backups (https://github.com/lightningnetwork/lnd/releases)

ACINQ has just released an Android application which finally allows us to use Lightning Network on the mainnet! I still haven't tested it since I am waiting for on-chain transaction confirmation. Well it looks like my transaction got confirmed. Time to choose proper node.

Google play link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fr.acinq.eclair.wallet.mainnet&rdid=fr.acinq.eclair.wallet.mainnet

What a pity that you can't backup your channels, yet. ZAP Android app should also become available soon. In my opinion, it looks better than Eclair's app. Does anyone know if it has different functionality?
