If we have to host it, I will shell out for a VPS that can store the blockchain. It will be taken down after the class has ended. Hopefully I won't have to do that because the blockchain is like 200 GB and I'm a student.

I absolutely do not plan to host it past the duration of the class. I won't publically promote it, and I'll make sure nothing illegal happens on it.

I'm apolitical, so if you asked my opinion on DNM sites I wouldn't have any opinions.

The closest area that I have an opinion on is code is not illegal, and software should be free. I started identifiying as a hacker after running Linux writing shitty PHP studying for the LSAT. Decided not to go to law school and I'm happier than I've ever been.

Open Bazzar is cool. I haven't used it, but it seems like it doesn't have very much market share for illicit transactions, which is interesting. I just read Bernstein v. U.S. Dept. of Justice and it seems like Open Bazzar removes the legal risk. Of course I don't think you could profit off of a decentralized market without being prosecuted so from the perspective of deciding to create one people use servers. Users won't have any reduced risk from using Open Bazzar, so I guess that's why it's mainly used for legit stuff.


This project if I am not mistaken will require a LAMP application. I haven't looked at the syllabus but I talked to someone who was in it, and we are supposed to build it from scratch. No frameworks.

So I guess I will use this time to create a MVC framework. I can't justify creating one from scratch in 2018, but I will learn I guess from doing it. I'm definitely not going to pass GET values.

I haven't gotten to any major courses yet. So I was wondering what to do about the SysAdmin security aspects. I uploaded my course list here https://imgur.com/a/ds5qlIA. I have three questions

1. Are there any courses I should take first to learn about sys admin tasks.
2. Is there anything I should read about on my own?
3. What other crypto currencies should I include?

I know what you're thinking, I'm overdoing the project, but I want it on my GitHub and I want to work in NetSec/web application security.

The blockchain is on my computer I'm going to check out that wrapper now.

For wrapper you can try this one : https://github.com/nbobtc/bitcoind-php , but it seems to be outdated, so not sure how good is the support for lets say SW etc.


Well if the OP is looking for having his own service OpenBazaar might not be the solution for him. Although if he/she is looking to earn money it can be done via OpenBazaar if you become a moderator. A moderator is basically a person who is there to act as an escrow agent and for that job he gets some small percentage from the trade. It is important to note however that TOR is not perfect neither and we should not take its "anonymity" for granted

The only thing different about a "dark" site is that you access it through TOR. I think that you might find that working on a project involving a decentralized market would be more interesting. Check out Open Bazaar.

I have to build a site for an ecommerce class. I wanted to create a Dark Net Market. I'll probably use Laravel.

Can you recommend some resources so I learn more about Bitcoind, and can you recommend a php wrapper?

I don't do any dr00gz and I don't drink. I'm doing this for the learning experience. If I don't get banned I may ask some sysadmin questions as well.
