bitcat wants to cast metal icons of Edward Snowden in alumin(i)um. If you support Snowden, why not buy one for BTCitcoin?
These icons are good to keep by your computer, as a reminder about intelligent surfing. Also cool for the living room so friends will know you care about their data privacy.
My friend (the artist) and I decided to ask what options you guys'd like before he carves the mould. Here are things he can do:
* outline cutout shape or block shape,
* a limited series of numbered castings for collector's value,
* Snowden's name, the word "hero," or "hero to" followed by:
* your custom text (name or pseudonym perhaps?) engraved in another metal and bonded with the casting.
These options are offered individually or in combo, so please offer feedback here and we'll get back soon with our final design(s).
The price will be around BTC1 for the standard rectangular 175mm x 120mm size. A size down at 120mm x 75mm will be half that price. Price will also vary for outline cuts that use less metal. Weight will be max 500g. so shipping (from South Africa) won't be costly.
To illustrate the final product, here's a Photoshop workup. High contrast with organic texture and handmade contours are the look for sand cast alumin(i)um. Reference is the initial media pics.
Imagine that with lots of depth and a smooth, bright, metallic finish. If you check out the non-bitcat webstores in my sig, you'll find a Mandela metal icon from this same process. Like that, but Snowden.
The casting process itself is quite cool, with pouring of molten metal - I'll take pics and a vid if you like.
