Ok I do not have a firewall set up. Does it matter if or how I am conneted to the internet? I am using a VPN on a wifi network. I think the issue is that the program will not even try to connect Cry

If you never set-up/configure your firewall, it should be active by default. Check whether Electrum is allowed to connect by windows firewall.
See https://winaero.com/blog/allow-block-apps-firewall-windows-10/ as guide

VPN might be at fault here, try to disable VPN, use different VPN or use Tor as proxy.

For anyone experiencing situation where your Electrum wallet stays in status "not connected" I just had that same experience with version 3.3.8

I have opened firewall port for application but my problem was still the same, after that I checked network traffic and it seems  that wallet tried to use my virtual network vmware port instead of the real one.

I made one quick check by just unplugging the Ethernet cable and turn on my WiFi. After that started the wallet again and it connected right away and the orb in the right corner went from red to green.

I hope that helps someone with the same problem I had.  Wink

I am starting to freak out a little. I set up my wallet with electrum. I then sent some money to it thinking it was fine. However I do not think the wallet address was ever sent to any server. On the network page it says in

So If I have created a wallet that is not accessible by the internet or that was ever created and registered on a server did the money I sent to it actually go there? If I can get Electrum to connect will this money appear finally or is it lost for good. Any help appreciated!
Bitcoins don't exist on your computer. They exist on the blockchain. You can lookup the address on a blockexplorer and see the transaction history/balance:

https://www.blockchain.com/explorer
https://live.blockcypher.com/
https://btc.com/
https://blockchair.com/

It's a bit like a traditional bank... if someone sends you money, you don't need to have your internet banking connected and open to receive the funds. So, regardless of whether or not your computer or wallet is online, if bitcoins are sent to a valid bitcoin address, that will be recorded in the blockchain. You just won't be able to see it in your wallet until it is connected and synced (or you can check using a blockexplorer).

A wallet is really just a method for storing the private keys that allow you to spend bitcoins.

As for why your Electrum is not connecting, did you download it from electrum.org (check browser download history) and did you verify the digital signature of the downloaded file? Huh
Also, there is a good chance that the VPN is causing you issues. Numerous users have had issues with various VPN providers and Electrum. You might want to try without the VPN or checking with the provider if there are known issues with Electrum and their service.

I am starting to freak out a little. I set up my wallet with electrum. I then sent some money to it thinking it was fine. However I do not think the wallet address was ever sent to any server. On the network page it says in the program is says
 Status not connected
 Server None
 Blockchain 558431

Also it says below this connected Node and this is blank.

So If I have created a wallet that is not accessible by the internet or that was ever created and registered on a server did the money I sent to it actually go there? If I can get Electrum to connect will this money appear finally or is it lost for good. Any help appreciated!

I have read that there is a sync button but I sure do not see one. Am I missing something?

So I installed and set up an Electrum wallet but no matter what server I pick it will not connect to one? I am running 3.3.6 on a windows 8..1 machine. I have read many post with this issue but they are older and they do not seem to be fixing my issue. Any Help?
