I don't think using a Bitcoin wallet on a totally obsolete OS (with no security updates) is a good idea.

If that PC is conected with the internet, you are putting your bitcoins in a serious risk of being stolen.

That can happen on any computer, password protected wallet or not. You need to get your private keys off of a computer with an internet connection.

Finally I have managed to run it!

1) download and install python 2.7;
2) download and install PyQt4;
3) download and unpack electrum python sources Electrum-2.5.1.zip from official download page;
4) run client from it's directory with "python electrum" command (make sure that python executable directory is in your PATH variable);

Thanks to everybody.

Thank you for your suggestion but migration to another platform for BTC client is little bit too much. If there will be no another way may be I do some experiments with VM dedicated for electrum.

Now I'am trying to run application from sources under PyQt4.

I suspect problem is related to pyton version. May be system needs some updates.

If it was a dedicated pc maybe i could suggest you to try ReactOs, is like Windows but made from zero, and for what i tried at least Bitcoin Core worked so maybe even this Electrum will work, i will try myself on a virtual machine if you want to do this change of OS. but because is your personal pc then i suppose you need to wait that somebody else that knows about this fact gets on and helps you.

Anyway if you want to try the thing i suggested i would like to remind you that ReactOs is still Alpha (But at the end is quite stable except some problems with recent version of the browsers and the usb support) and at the moment is unknow if XP SP3 and ReactOs can do Dual Boot without problems.

It is my personal pc.
I did try to find information about OS support by various versions of electrum. Without any success.

Hello!

I've used electrum 1.9.8 with no problems and 2.3.2 with some minor issues. But now faced problem with upgrading to newest versions. I tried 2.4.4 and 2.5.1 with the same result: electrum clien does not start at all!

Installed by "electrum-2.4.4-setup.exe" or "electrum-2.5.1-setup.exe" versions shows alert box with something like: "Application is misconfigured. Reinstallation can make it work properly". Portable versions crushes with error message "Error loading Python Dll: C:\DOCUME~1\XXX\LOCALS~1\Temp_MEI26162\python27.dll (error code 14001)".

I've tried to reinstall and uninstall older versions of electrum, to clean registry, to wipe electrum directories in "Programm Files" and "Application Data" with no effect. Versions 2.3.2 and lower works as usual.

What is wrong and what I'am supposed to do? I'm worrying about this "S-High" incompatibility problem. I would not like to migrate to another btc client but see no other options.

Thanks!
