I've downloaded so much I'm not sure what was downloaded.  I need to get where I can test the seed I have but can't figure that part out. Please point me in the correct direction.

You can always put your seed into the seed recovery script that comes as part of btcrecover... give it an address you know comes from the wallet and see if it can find any errors

Refer: https://github.com/gurnec/btcrecover/blob/master/docs/Seedrecover_Quick_Start_Guide.md

I have the green dot and the height is correct.  I was willing to bet that I had the seed correctly written down.  Looks like I wont' be getting any bitcoins after all.  Thanks for all your help.

You didn't answer my question... What is LTE wallet?? Huh

the .asc file will be the signature/hash file used for verifying the digital signature of the wallet installer file... it is of no use to you when trying to recover a wallet.

It was a completely empty wallet with no history. Balance:  0.mBTC  I know I have the correct seed.
Like I said... Assuming that Electrum is connected (green dot) and properly synced (click "tools -> network" and see if you have the same number of blocks as the current blockchain height (check current height here: https://blockchain.info/)... ie. if current height = 499717 and Electrum has 499717 blocks then your Electrum is properly synced.)...

If your seed is not showing ANY history... then you have the wrong seed... You may have typed that seed in 100% according to what you have written down, but it is NOT the seed for the wallet you think it is.

lte? Huh what is lte? Huh Did you mean LTC? If so... you can't just change LTC to BTC Tongue

If the seed is showing no history, you have the wrong seed, simple as that.

And if you DID mean LTC, then you need to download Electrum-LTC which is a completely different and unrelated wallet designed for Litecoint (aka LTC)... https://electrum-ltc.org

It was a completely empty wallet with no history.  Another thing which comes to mind, I created a lte wallet and manual change it to display bitcoins.

Was it just a balance of 0 but with transactions showing... or was it just a completely empty wallet with no history?

I was able to create a new wallet, 2.93 for Windows 7.  But i was unable to get my bitcoins back.  I sure I am using the correct seed but bitcoins = 0.  I don't know what to do next.  Any ideas?

Firstly, I would recommend that you upgrade Electrum to at LEAST v2.9.3 (for Windows 7/8 or earlier)... and v3.0.3 (Windows 10, Linux or OSX)... (do NOT try and use v3 with Windows 7/8 or earlier, it probably won't work!)

Then you run Electrum and if prompted to create a wallet file, select "Standard -> I already have a seed".

If you're not prompted, and it opens up into the application, you should use: "File -> New\Restore -> Standard -> I already have a seed."

Once you are at the seed entry screen, input your 12 word seed, select a new password, and your wallet and all your transaction history and addresses etc will be regenerated! Smiley

I had about 1/10 of a bitcoin in my wallet when my computer's hard drive died.  This is when bitcoin cost about $400.  I had the seed backed up.  Lost the password and the name of my wallet.  I"m guessing on the name of the wallet.  I would like to restore the wallet to retrieve the bitcoins.  Reading the documents and the posts here have only confused me more.  I have an old version of Electrum 2.83.  This is all Greek to me.  I need help badly.  Please help me.
