How come there isn't a solution yet for 3.0.1 & 3.0.2 electrum issues for windows 10 users? This topic here is almost one month old! I'm getting stressed. The safest/fastest bitcoin wallet suddenly does not open anymore. And worse: the 2.9.3 now takes about 15 minutes to open.... and it crashes a lot.

Come on, guys. Help us please in a hurry. A new electrum version is highly necessary

V3 doesn't play nicely with Windows 7/8 and earlier...

Note: Some old versions of Windows might need to install the KB2999226 Windows update.
If that doesn't work... you can always downgrade back to v2.9.3 here: https://download.electrum.org/2.9.3/

or update to Windows 10 Wink Tongue

If you have antivirus open better to off them first and try to disable your firewall before you start installing electrum again and maybe there is something preventing installing your electrum..
It could be antivirus or the firewall .. This is happening to me but in other software when installing they are letting installing the software but when opening nothings happen checking the appdata but there is no files inside the folder directory so disabling antivirus and disable the firewall that i think can fix this because its work mine..

I'm getting the same problem, Electrum 3.0.2 on Windows 10.
After installation it does not open. I tried deleting the C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Electrum and starting it again, what happens is that the Electrum folder is recreated with some files inside, but the wallet itself does not open.
Please help,
thanks

Yes, I just tried to install the new 3.0.2 version by clicking "Run as Administrator", but it didn't work either.
I guess it must indeed be something related with my machine since no one else seems to be reporting this situation.
I'm running the portable version on a pendrive that I will be using just for that, always plugged only on my personal computer, so I think it will be as safe as using the Windows Installer version.
Thanks everyone for the help Smiley

Tried to repeat the process for the 3.0.1 version but it didn't work - For some reason the 3.0.1 version is not creating the Electrum folder at "C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\"
Like I said... sounds like a weird permissions problem... where Electrum is not able to create the folder... possibly the Windows UAC stuff somehow preventing it from writing to that directory? Did you try right clicking Electrum and selecting "Run as Administrator"?

If you run Electrum 3.0.1.exe and nothing happens (no window shows up)

First, kill all Electrum instances (using Task Manager or from Command Line, type:     taskkill /f /im Electrum*

Second, backup your wallet from (%appdata%\Electrum\wallets)

Third, delete the whole directory tree %appdata%\Electrum

Finally, run Electrum again / restore wallet

Good luck,

It sounds like you might have some weird permissions error...

Also, does you windows "username" use "non latin" characters? ie special characters with accents like õ ÿ û, cyrillic, or asian characters etc?... It's possible that the app is struggling to find the Electrum data directory in your "C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Electrum" folder if "YOURUSERNAME" has "non latin" characters...

No, it does not have any special characters. It was working normally until version 3.0.0, it started not to open when I installed the 3.0.1 version.

EDIT:
Just deleted the "C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Electrum" folder and installed the 2.9.3 version - the folder was created again and worked just fine.
Tried to repeat the process for the 3.0.1 version but it didn't work - For some reason the 3.0.1 version is not creating the Electrum folder at "C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\"

I have downloaded the portable version into a pendrive and it's working.
Still, I have read the portable version is less secure, so I would be very happy if I could keep using the Windows Installer version.

find your wallet file and rename it to something else. then run electrum and restore your wallet from seed:

location of wallet file: http://docs.electrum.org/en/latest/faq.html#where-is-my-wallet-file-located

Hello, it's not possible to restore from seed because the program does not even open.

Hello everyone,
I have just installed the new Electrum wallet (3.0.1), but when I double click the icon on my desktop nothing happens.
I have tried to reinstall it, but it still does not open.

Any advice?
