Sir is this official site for downloading Electrum because I am also looking for my first wallet and want to do from official site recently we have too many complaints about fake wallets and malware which are creating problems for newbies like me, thanks.

yes, this is definitely the official site!
you can download the latest version of the Elctrum wallet from there. if you are still not sure, i would check the gpg signatures after the download.

I really appreciate your quick and positive reply with further more information about this wallet.

Thanks. Smiley Smiley Smiley

Because I don't want to try for seeing and to cry after seeing to be honest...
Electrum v4.5.6 supports testnet3 and testnet4 so you can try anything that you think is dangerous without the "cry" part.
Just start Electrum with either --testnet or --testnet4 to start on the mentioned chains respectively.

Do we still need to close our Lightning Network channels when we upgrade Electrum to a newer version. Or the software is now able to find and display them automatically?

You don't need to close your channels when you update, especially in minor patch releases.
Even in major releases that was never the case. Well okay, IIRC 4.3 dropped support for old pre-static_remotekey channels, but that type was never in a released version (only on git master).

You can be sure that if you had to close channels as part of an upgrade, that would be in the release notes.

I am sorry to ask that, if it has already been replied before but I didn't find any aswer into the Electrum documentation unfortunately. Do we still need to close our Lightning Network channels when we upgrade Electrum to a newer version? Or the software is now able to find and display them automatically? Because I don't want to try for seeing and to cry after seeing to be honest... I guess it's just a matter of datas written into random files, but if the new installation delete them, I don't think there is an easy way if any, to get them back IMO.

Some helpful fixes there...

Wen taproot?
It seems that devs are not giving much priority to taproot at the moment or are having difficulties implementing it, I remember electrum being one of the first to add support for native segwit bech32 addresses after the segwit update a long time ago.

Neat, testnet4 already supported even though Bitcoin Core 28.0 (first version which support testnet4) just released 2 weeks ago.

Wen taproot?
There doesn't seem to be any progress in writing the code for Taproot for Electrum wallet itself. It is still only supported through third party tools like the hardware wallets.
You can follow this issue to be notified if it some day gets closed or updated: https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum/issues/7544
