I guess it really depends on how the Bread Wallet devs implement the upgrade to SegWit. If they simply let you create multiple wallets within the app, you should be able to create a new SegWit wallet and then send from your current Bread Wallet to the SegWit Bread Wallet address.

If you're only allowed one wallet, then you'll have to find some way of creating the new SegWit wallet and then sending from your old wallet... maybe something very complicated and messy like:

- Make sure you have backup seed of old wallet
- Create new SegWit wallet with new seed
- Get new SegWit address from new SegWit wallet
- Restore old wallet with old seed
- Send all coins from old wallet to new SegWit Address
- Restore new SegWit wallet with new seed

Or you can send your coins to a completely different wallet (like Electrum), create your SegWit wallet and then send from different wallet to SegWit wallet...

No need to send my coins to Electrum. I can just import my seed.

Bread is BIP 39 and Derivation Path m/0'

Works fine.

I'm not sure exactly what it is that you're asking... Huh

Are you saying that the wallet you are currently using, is a SegWit wallet... and you want to import to Electrum Android?

What is the current wallet you are using? and why don't you want to use it any more?

It's another question now. I'm just asking here because i found you online helping me.  Roll Eyes

Well, i have bread. Bread doesn't support segwit yet, but will in the future. When they support segwit what can I do to use segwit wallet? I need to use my seed on Electrum desktop version and transfer all bitcoins to my new bread address with segwit, right?

Honestly, I don't know... I suspect the bulk of their development effort is going into the desktop versions and sorting out issues there. The android app is really just to provide some basic functionality so you can send/receive on the go. It was never really designed to be a complete standalone version of Electrum.

At this point in time, if you're using a BIP39 seed, you'd probably be better off using a "proper" Android wallet rather than the Android version of Electrum. Mycelium for instance (although it doesn't allow custom derivation paths)... I believe Coinomi allows custom derivation paths.

And to find out if the devs plan on adding these features... go ask on the Electrum GitHub: https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum/issues

If the wallet I'm using, upgrade to SegWit.

What do I need to do? How can I transfer from my wallet to my own wallet?

The Electrum Android App is a "cut down" version of Electrum... it does not provide ALL of the functionality of the desktop version.

You CAN see your 12 word seed for a wallet, but you cannot see individual private keys for addresses. Likewise, when creating a wallet, you CANNOT import BIP39 seeds and/or use custom derivation paths.

The only "extra" option you can have is to "extend" your Electrum seed (ie. if you extended your Electrum 12 word seed using custom words/passphrase etc)

Has electrum team any desire to add "import features" like BIP39 and custom derivation path?

You CAN see your 12 word seed for a wallet (tap the bar at the top where the wallet name and wallet balance are displayed, you'll see the wallet info and the Master Public Key, there is a "show seed" button), but you cannot see individual private keys for addresses. Electrum Android App has the option to change the Derivation Path?

I need to import my keys and select the correct Derivation Path.

It only follows the regular derivation path. You cannot use a bip39 path just like you can't access the private keys (unless something has changed since I used the app).

Make a new wallet, import the wallet on desktop and send the coins to the new wallet.

WAIT! You can't see your 12 words on Electrum app? You can't control the private key?
