Electrum is one of the oldest Bitcoin wallets. It was launched in 2011, and not much has changed since then. And we say that for the better!
The only thing that hasn't changed is the interface, which still looks old, but you can review the development that took place in the wallet https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum/issues.
A lot of changes and bug fixes have occurred, and they will be one of the few portfolios that support the Lightning Network in addition to its enlarged support for bc1 address technology.
It is also one of the few wallets that enables you to use hardware wallets easily.

It has changed, would be wrong to say not much changed. I moved to Electrum when mBHD was being shut down and had to migrate to some other wallet software.

Lets not compare with services that provide the wallet service but with additional exchange features. They are making money from that and considering Electrum owners not doing so they have my respect. Web wallets should also not be compared with Electrum, they are a different approach to storing coins, setting aside the communities dislike regarding them.

Unlike modern wallets containing countless features, links to exchanges, graphs and the like, Electrom’s clean interface is a pleasure.
Could not help but note that typo, did you write this in a hurry just to promote your site and get some traffic there? I doubt you would reply though.

There's also an Android version but it isn't as feature rich and it doesn't support hardware wallets (although I heard there were some plans for that).

Features like coinjoin and paynyms are still missing tho. -snip-
By the way, Coinjoin will be available in the next release  Smiley
Although it's not as intuitive as Wasabi's, in Electrum it will be a painstaking manual merging of transactions and distribution of partially signed merged transaction to the other parties.

Here's one testnet coinjoin transaction that I've tried: fe3dde593d428606aab307bc11a179fbfacb416176865d1f7d14276fc25ce597
(merged inputs and outputs from three different wallet types)

Actually, electrum is one of the wallets with the most (standard but useful) features available.

A lot of wallets still don't let you select which Inputs to spend. Or to freeze inputs.
Fee estimation using the size of the mempool is not included in a lot of wallets too.

You can adjust a lot in electrum, which then offers quite some features.

Features like coinjoin and paynyms are still missing tho. However, a lot of features which aren't included in other wallets are included in electrum making it a feature-rich wallet IMO.

i just want to point out that having a ton of features does not make a wallet "modern" or even good. in fact majority of people prefer simpler applications with simpler interfaces instead of something that has loads of options, specially ones that may even open new vulnerabilities in the client.

That guide misses out the most important step in downloading and using Electrum (or any wallet, for that matter) which is to verify your download before installing it.

There are instructions and links on how to verify your download on the Electrum download page here: https://electrum.org/#download
There are also instructions here: https://bitcoinelectrum.com/how-to-verify-your-electrum-download/

There are endless numbers of fake wallets out there which mimic legitimate wallets and will steal any coins you send to them, or coins linked to private keys or seeds you import to them. You should never use any wallet without first verifying your downloading.

This is a simple wallet with a high level of security that is suitable for keeping Bitcoin, sending and receiving it. it can also connect to hardware wallets.

Electrum also offers a desktop wallet that works for Mac, Windows and Linux.

You can find the installation guide here, step by step with screenshots.
