How much of your password do you remember? If you remember most of it, there's a Ruby script by Revalin that should be able to help you (provided you are a little familiar with Ruby, and comfortable with running scripts.)

Did you write the seed down when you created the wallet?
If you did then there is no need to brute force the password. Just create a new wallet and enter the seed.

That's the beauty of deterministic wallets.

Whoops, forgot to mention that part.
That's the root of the problem. I don't remember being given a seed to write down. I've searched everywhere I would have kept it... To no avail.

Just bumping this back up... Not sure on the rules on double posting, sorry.

Does anyone know anything about recovering a password via brute force methods? I've seen it done before but I don't know how to do it. I can prove I've been using this wallet for almost 10 months now.

Came here to ask for some help in the Electrum section, but apparently I'm not allowed to do that quite yet... So i'll ask the newbie board!

I've been trying to send funds with my Electrum wallet, but i couldn't get anything to send. To make matters worse, I just updated to the latest version and now my password isn't working. Thoughts, anyone?

Edit: Any chance a mod could move this to the Electrum board?
