It's also possible that Kraken might be experiencing a bit of a technical malfunctions, which may be delaying your transaction. Its also possible that something else is wrong but ill advice you go with these options first and see how it goes.
Best of luck.
While this is a possibility but he's told that it's an address that didn't appeared on his electrum wallet for receiving.
Then he should try putting the other possibilities into consideration, or do you have better options to be considered?

So I downloaded the official Electrum, copied the address from the receive request generated. added that to Kraken to download the btc.
You can't download bitcoin, you can only withdraw it from exchange wallet to your own.

I waited and waited and nothing happened so after advice I checked that address in the list of addresses in Electrum (33 of them) and that one doesnt appear anywhere so;
where has my btc gone, where has that address gone? is all lost?
First you should check transaction link you received on your Kraken account and see if transaction is confirmed and completed.
Addresses are not gone anywhere in Electrum, balance should appear when everything is completed, and each time new address will be generated.

I understand that you have used the wrong term on this one but you don't download BTC but withdrew it on that exchange.

where has my btc gone, where has that address gone? is all lost? sorry my first transaction!
As what everyone has thought that you've been a victim of a clipboard virus. If you can post the address where your BTC has gone and sent and it's not yet used by anybody neither by you then that means that you've been a victim of it.

Another thing is that, did you ever wrote your seeds somewhere over the internet?

Looks like the Bitcoin you sent didn't make it to your electrum wallet. This happens sometimes due to technical errors or maybe you should check if you're using the right Electrum version. There are a lot of fake versions out there and if you're unfortunate to have downloaded one of them then this is bound to happen.

It could also be that you may have sent the Bitcoin to a wrong address, even if you copied and pasted the address, it's possible that you may have pasted the wrong address.
It's also possible that the transaction might still be pending, so you should check the status of the transaction, if it's still pending, then it may take a while to reach the recipient wallet but if it's confirmed, then the Bitcoin should definitely be in the correct recipient wallet.

If you do not care about privacy, you can let us know your bitcoin address that you send the coin to and also the txid of the transaction that you are referring to on Krakens so that we can also know if it is clipboard malware or not.

Also try to copy and paste something and see if what you copied changes.

Did you verify the signature before downloading the wallet? That's a very important step even if you're getting it from the official website.
I do not think this is about fake wallet download. This is more about clipboard malware. Also you will have to download Electrum and the signature file together before you proceed to verify the signature.

Also, does Kraken give you access to the transaction ID? Check that or the address you sent to on a block explorer and check the activity on it. The transaction could still be pending or was sent to a wrong address and has since been spent.

There are lies, damned lies and statistics. MTwain

Just to make sure, you should be able to compare and see if there is a match between:

1)   The Electrum Receive Request: Go to the Receive tab and see what address figures there for the request you made.

2)   Kraken’s TX: I’m not a user of the platform, but it seems that you can obtain the information by going to the Funding tab, as per:

https://support.kraken.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038774271-How-to-find-a-deposit-or-withdrawal-blockchain-transaction-ID-or-hash

Compare both addresses, and if they differ, there it is very likely a clipboard walware issue. Also check the TX status on Kraken.

Even if the address disappears the deposit is still supposed to arrive on the wallet, but whereas the deposit didn’t arrive and he can’t also see the address he sent to does that not point to the address being changed before sending out ?
Addresses are not changed.

Every time you go to "receive" tab and make a request, electrum gives you a new address. All generated addresses should be displayed in "Addresses" tab and they all belongs to the wallet.
Since OP doesn't see the receiving address in "Addresses" tab, he has sent the fund to a wrong address and as already said by others, that's probably due to a malware changing the clipboard.

You must have created a payment request and the time you put there must have elapse so the address disappeared not to be used again from the receiving address but that doesn’t mean it has expired. Addresses do not expire and if the bitcoin is later sent it will be recieved on that address except if the address is a wrong one due to clipboard malware.
He said he checked the lists of addresses.

If he checked the lists of addresses, likely he was infected with clipboard malware.

He needs to format the device and reinstall his OS if it is a compute. Or to go for hard reset or factory reset if it is a mobile device.

Did you re-check the address before sending your bitcoin there. Maybe you sent it to a wrong address or there was a clipboard virus. It is always good that you make sure that you are very sure of the address that you are sending your bitcoin to before clicking on the send button.

Clipboard malware works in a way that you will copy something to yur clipboard (your device money responsible for copy/paste), what you copied will be replaced by an attackers address. You will paste the address instead of what you copied. Likely you copy your address, replaced by the attackers address and you pasted the attackers address. It is good to always check and recheck the address that you pasted before sending.

Go to your sending wallet and verified because you should also be having a pending transaction even if it was broadcasted but not yet received.

Clipboard virus.. the address you copied have been changed without you noticing it.

Your system have been infected which could be due to pirated OS or softwares and they have got into your system this form of virus only target your copied crypto address and they change it to the hackers address which if you don’t look careful enough you will send your coin to them without noticing it.

That’s why it’s always advisable to check your address line by like to make sure it’s correct and recheck before confirming your transaction in other not to make mistake of sending to the wrong person.
