I'm guessing there is a missing step between "old one still has BCC" and "Send BCC to an exchange" and that is to port the keys from the old one to a wallet that handles BCC (which Electrum itself does not at this point). Is that correct?
Yes. In this case, you could use Electron Cash[1] to import your old wallet private-key/seed and handle your BCC.

Thanks! Appreciate it.

One clarification needed; you say:

I have offline wallet A.  I create a new regular wallet B and successfully move all BTC from wallet A to wallet B. Then use Electron Cash on a different machine and wallet A seed to recreate public/private keys of wallet A to get hold of the associated BCH;  and then get the BCH the hell out of Electron Cash to an exchange?
That's going to work.

  • You have both BTC and BCC in a wallet.
  • You create a new wallet and send your BTC to this wallet.
  • Now you have one wallet with BTC and the old one that still has BCC.
  • Done! Do whatever you wants. Send BCC to an exchange and keep using your new BTC wallet or move your coins to a new offline one.

And any recommendation or two for which exchange to do a BCH to BTC conversion?
Bittrex or ShapeShift.

Hello,

I have offline wallet A.  I create a new regular wallet B and successfully move all BTC from wallet A to wallet B. Then use Electron Cash on a different machine and wallet A seed to recreate public/private keys of wallet A to get hold of the associated BCH;  and then get the BCH the hell out of Electron Cash to an exchange?

Main question - will the above steps work or does the offline wallet A have to first be somehow morphed to a regular 'spending' wallet A1 and then move BTC to wallet B, and use A1 seed in Electron Cash?

And any recommendation or two for which exchange to do a BCH to BTC conversion?

Thanks!
