If you'd bothered to look at the more recent posts... like the one 2 posts above yours... you would have noted that the OP had actually clarified already that they did exactly that Roll Eyes
Exactly... sorry guys, but sometimes I try to help the user by giving the answer quickly, and I confess that sometimes I didn't even read the previous posts, I know, this is my fault, and this is not will happen again

Anyway... i'm glad @acroman08 can solved his problem and it wasn't anything serious.
I hope that the way he solved the problem will be of help to anyone who has a similar problem with Electrum on Android OS.

Guys, I just want clear that what I meant to say when I said reboot was reformat(my bad). I deleted all files on my phone to free up space and downloaded again what I needed. And apparently that helped with the problem I faced when I first downloaded the mobile version of electrum.

If what I said doesn't work, I believe the way to solve this, is to reset your smartphone.

You can read it yourself on the first page if the problem has been solved or not.
People should be reading the entire thread... not just the first post or the first page and then clicking "Reply". Roll Eyes

Hmmm, I also have Electrum on my smartphone (Moto X4) and I didn't have any problem with that. It works normally!

What you commented, I believe the problem could be something related to the ""communication/compatibility"" of your smarthphone with Electrum (this is not certain)

@acroman08, I don't know if you were able to solve your problem!

But I will share some advice that can solve this hindrance.
• Uninstall and reinstall Electrum
• Delete useless apps and clean your smartphone to free up space
• Clear the Electrum cache
• Update your OS

If what I said doesn't work, I believe the way to solve this, is to reset your smartphone.

Hope this has helped you Smiley
You can read it yourself on the first page if the problem has been solved or not.  I am not sure that the problem will happen again but as I have read in the first page, acroman08 rebooted the phone and downloaded the electrum android version and works normally as mentioned in that post. So, it is solved already if you didn't know about it. I also have electrum but I seldomly use it and I prefer using fhe desktop version as it has more feature than the android version.

I even use Electrum, even when I read my Smartphone worse than yours. But all went normally and smoothly. I'm currently using Version 4.1.4 with an MIT license. For my type of smartphone, it is Asus Zenfone 5 Second generation with 3GB ram and 64GB rom. I think try reinstalling your Electrum. Clean your Smartphone from useless files. But don't forget to backup everything first. As long as I use this version I have no problems.

It works fine for me and I tried it now to open my Electrum account on my phone which I seldom use it.  I used Huawei Nova 2 lite which is very cheap and affordable and it works fine and has no lag I encountered.

I admitted that Electrum mobile phone app is prone to hack and now this is a target of hackers because our phone was easy to get malware infection.  I recommend using your laptop or PC for a version of the Electrum app, it could be safer than the wallet app.

I discover that don't create your Electrum wallet on a mobile phone because it's possible that your recovery seed was in there and easily to compromise, you can import your seed to your mobile app that originally created on the desktop which is I presume it's safe than using a mobile phone.

You can user trust wallet Instead in your phone.
You shouldn't prefer trustwallet to electrum, just because it's more user-friendly.
Electrum is open-source and trustwallet is close-source. When you use trustwallet, there is no way to know whether your keys are stored on their server or not.
Electrum also allow you to make a transaction without your keys touching the internet. Being open-source and the ability of signing a transaction without being online are much more important than being more user-friendly.

I used mi 9t pro as well as electrum and never had encounter such lagginess while using it.

I rebooted my phone and downloaded it again and it seems that it is running normal now. My internal storage was almost full when I downloaded it maybe it affected the app(I am not sure). Anyway, thanks for the inputs.
Maybe a ram issue? after opening lots of application in the background, and a full internal storage really has an effect to that, maybe it's one its the reason.

It works smoothly on my mobile phone. I think the problem is your device.

On Android, you must pay attention when you click on Pay, slide the fee-rate bar from left to right if you want to increase fee rate for your transaction (sat/byte) and vice versa if you want to reduce the fee rate.

It would be from 1, 2, 5, 10 (10 increment) to 50, then 70, 100, 150, etc.

If you don't pay attention on the fee rate & increment, you might over pay it.

It sometimes happens to me with my Samsung phone even on other apps it's slow down when the memory is full I think that is why it's running normally now it's because restarting the phone will help to clear up all running apps in the background.

I think new phones have a built-in tool that can clean up memory like mine I can go to device care and click memory then tap the clean button to clean up all running apps on the background. So it doesn't need to reboot the phone. You can try that on your Poco phone.

I search a bit on youtube it seems you can find that tool under settings>about to clear up some space and memory.
Here's the youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UErSTNhFyiE

I don't face any such issues with Electrum in Android apart from the sync which takes few seconds even when the internet speed is at extreme high speed. Maybe your problems will be sorted out in the next update amd if you have any other device try and let us know do you still have the same issue.

Imo the app is quite slow when compared with others. I think the initial loading screen is slow on a lot of apps.

A bad phone just will crash or go extremely slowly but I do have 8gb ram and a strong CPU in mine so I think it's just that. I seem to find apps that use the Internet to load take longer than those that don't - but that could just be my experience.

(edit: my slowness could be caused by having a lot of wallets on my device).

Just a heads up: You can use other Bitcoin wallets because your PC's wallet backup is pretty much compatible with most wallets in general(mobile or desktop).

https://bluewallet.io/
https://samouraiwallet.com/
Electrum seed phrases are not compatible with most wallets. In fact, there are very few wallets which will successfully restore Electrum seed phrases. Blue Wallet is one of them, but I'm pretty sure Samourai won't (unless they've implemented that feature recently).

just that the desktop Electrum is far better by having more feature like coin control and signing a message with an address
Yeah, it is a big omission from the mobile version that it does not have coin control. As a imperfect work around, you can click on the Settings icon and then on Addresses, and freeze individual addresses in your wallet which you don't want to spend from. If you only use each address once, then this is the same as freezing individual UTXOs.

I can't with good conscious recommend using a wallet on any mobile device that isn't running a custom operating system. Google, and Apple have far too many closed sourced pieces in their software, and that's a privacy concern, regardless whether the applications work or not. Mobile phones are also increasingly being targeted for malware, and in some instances they can be easier to attack, because of the way users use their phone.

However, for your question; the app will have both software, and hardware limitations. Some software isn't optimised for certain hardware, even though it might be exceeding the minimum hardware requirements. As a developer, it's impossible to test your software for every piece of hardware out there so they will rely on bug reports, and app diagnostics.

I just downloaded the android version of electrum to try it out. It is extremely slow and would usually get stuck when clicking "next" or "cancel" is it really this bad or is it just my phone? I am currently Using Poco x3 NFC with 6gb ram 64gb storage.
It could be the case of slower internet connection or you need to clean up your phone system, and I don't think that phone specs are causing this issue.

Maybe you should try other open source wallets like BlueWallet (that is probably better than Electrum) or Mycellium (has ads I don't like), and see if there is any difference in performance.

I will recommend Electrum wallet.

Samourai wallet brings back sad memories  honestly, I was a newbie then and I made a transaction to another wallet, this samourai wallet send out small amount of BTC and use large amount of BTC as gas fee, it literally did something I never sent it to do, the miner must be so happy
You can customize the fee by editing it, some wallets do not have good fee estimation, but your case can be as a result of congested mempool and using the standard fee. Samourai support RBF, you can first use low fee and then increase the fee of the unconfirmed transaction.

Make use of mempool observer for accurate fee estimation

For beginners: https://mempool.space
For advanced users: https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#BTC,24h,weight

This compilation will help you know more about how to take advantage of low fee

Transactions (Compilation for newbies)

Lastly, if you enable ricochet on Samourai wallet, such transaction is not a normal transaction, the transaction will be consisted of many hops of your choice before the Bitcoin sent will finally reach destination (recipient) address.

Samourai Wallet charges 0.002 BTC + normal miner fees for every 4- hop Ricochet transaction.

The fee is automatically paid by your wallet as part of the Ricochet transaction. You will be asked to review and accept the total fee before confirming the send.

I do not know much about cashoot, but for normal transaction, do not enable ricochet and cashoot, and you can customize (edit) the fee.

could it be that you forgot to change the recommended fee? it is a common mistake a newbie does. I've seen people post here in the forum about ridiculous fee for a small amount of transaction

In my past experience, though I sometimes recommend the desktop version, Electrum on mobile simply just sucks unfortunately. Use better wallets such as BlueWallet[1] or Samourai[2] instead.

Poco x3 NFC is using Android 10, I upgraded my phone like two months ago to Android 10 and Electrum wallet latest version which I am using works perfectly. Only what I know is that after you click on the wallet to open, it can take up to 5 to 10 seconds before it will open, but after that, no issue. Also, if you have just want to generate a new wallet like what you are complaining about now, it can be a bit slow to bring out your seed phrase while also click back can be a bit slower (but while click back) do not click back, just wait and let it generate you the seed phrase, it will work perfect.

With what I have experienced, Electrum mobile wallet on Android is also good, just that the desktop Electrum is far better by having more feature like coin control and signing a message with an address, but no issue at all to still use it on Android if not having computer, but the person must be careful of attackers because it is easy to attack mobile device than desktop and also to be careful of online attackers.

About BlueWallet, I downloaded it some weeks ago, what I like about the wallet is the easy means to make use of lightning network, but yet not what should be that hard on Electrum.

Excuse me what functions are available in electrum that's not general on other android wallets today? Why electrum in 2021 where we have better crypto mobile wallets today? Avoid the hassle and download metamask app or trust wallet on your phone

Hm, I am using Electrum on my phone for quite some time, and haven't experienced any issues. I have Samsung Galaxy Note 10 which is a little bit older phone than your Poco x3 and not significantly stronger and its working smoothly.

Since Poco x3 has decent hardware, maybe try to clean it up a little bit. From my experience Xiaomi devices slow down soon after purchasing, but still it shouldn't be that bad as its still a relatively new phone.

I believe it is directly related to the device it is on. I have used electrum on multiple mobile phones and each time it gets progressively slower the lower the RAM and ROM storage get.

I am currently Using Poco x3 NFC with 6gb ram 64gb storage.
However, in my little experience for this device type, it should just be a minor inconvenience rather than a big issue, except maybe when compared to much more powerful devices.
