Can't recreate it. I tried sending with 0.001mBTC fee but it just get broadcasted successfully. Can you post the unsigned(!!!) transaction hex? To do that, enable "view transaction before signing" and save the transaction without signing(!!!). Then it'll save a .txn file with the raw hex inside.

To make sure: Don't sign the transaction.
Also I'm sure you know this already but people will be able to see all addresses in that transaction.

You've lost me, I don't see an option to enable "view transaction before signing".

At any rate, this problem hasn't occurred since.... very strange.

If it's gone then I guess it's good  Smiley. Though I still am curious of what caused it.

That option is listed under Tools > Preferences. It's been there for a long time. Enabling it will allow you to double check your transaction instead of getting it signed and broadcasted instantly once you click send and enter your password.

Edit:
Fixed typo. It was 0.001BTC fee.

Experienced the very same problem some days ago.

Opened this thread https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.15381482   but no one provided a satisfactory explanation.

Closed and reopened my Electrum wallet v. 2.5.4 several times and in the end it worked again....but don't ask me why  Undecided

So does anyone know why this happened?  It worked again after I closed the client a few times.

The reason is displays the error is probably because your transaction does break the network rules. Do you have an output of under 5430 satoshis?

No it was 0.5 btc with a .126 mbtc fee.

Do you use an old version? They create (now) invalid signatures.

I'm on version 2.6.4

If it's a 'dust' error and you're using the latest version then it's probably similar problem to this.  You can see if it's the case or not by checking the view transaction before signing option in the preferences.  Though in my case, it fixed itself after I restarted electrum.

I get an error when trying to send: "The transaction was rejected by network rules...."  Any reason why?  Tried it a few times and a different amount, still the same error.
