I have just tried (downloaded OS X version) but it results strangely empty with no transactions in the history, that is quite impossible. So maybe I made some mistakes. Any idea?
Did you extended your seed with custom word/s? If so, add that extra word.

If you did not add an additional word, search for the Bitcoin address that you deposited to. Remember where you purchased Bitcoin from and search for the ID for that transaction. After you get the address, search for that address in the address list or type in the console and type ismine("YOUR_BITCOIN_ADDRESS").

If that address is not in the wallet, you most likely made a mistake with the wallet seed.

There are derivation path. As far as I know three derivation paths. I suggest to try all there one after another. As long as you have the correct seed, you will see your addresses and balances in one of the derivation format.
The script type and the derivation path are asked by electrum only if you import a BIP39 seed phrase.
If your seed phrase has been generated by electrum itself, it will not ask you the derivation path. The script type is encoded in electrum seed phrase and it uses a fixed derivation path.

After downloading the latest version of Electrum and importing your seed into it, did you wait till it finishes syncing? Did you make sure it's online? To verify whether your wallet is successfully connected to the network, check the color of the circle at the bottom right of the app (at the top right for mobile versions). It should be in green or blue, if it's red then you have a network issue and that's why you can't see any transactions on the history tab.

Hi guys I have an old mnemonic phrase (2016) of an old version Electrum. How I can recover my wallet? Thanks

Hey there! I noticed some other folks already chimed in with helpful suggestions about importing your wallet to the newest Electrum version.  Have you tried that yet? Did any issues pop up to block you from making it work?

I just wanted to mention - you can still find old versions of their software (everything from version 1.8.1) on the official Electrum download page: https://download.electrum.org/.  Only use those outdated versions on an offline, air-gapped machine though since theyre not as secure. But it could help get your wallet back potentially.

Welcome back to the forum, btw!

I suggest importing this wallet into an offline environment to ensure your funds are safe and then get the master public key from the Electrum offline and copy/paste it into online Electrum so that you can check if the funds are still there.

Once you confirm you can later move or send it to wherever you like through airgap or offline transaction.

Check this guide below on how to restore your seed phrase into Electrum.

For cold/offline wallet and transaction check the following link

The way they used to generate the seed, is probably not the same as they currently do it but that shouldn't be an issue. According to this article, as long as you're using the latest version, you should be able to recover your wallet.

Mnemonic phrase is not but the recovery seeds of HD wallet, since you mentioned it's electrum all you need to do is just download the electrum wallet from https://electrum.org/ and choose ' I already have seed' while creating the wallet.

Download electrum from the right source import it there and get your data back.

How long your wallet is does not really matter as long as you have the correct seed phrase you can always import it when you need to make use of the wallet.
