Damn, thank you both for making me aware of the issue. These scams are getting harder and harder to identify. Is deleting the fake one and re-downloading the real one enough or should I take extra measures to insure everything is legitimate?

I think that best you can do is to format your disk ( save what is important to you ), and install clean OS. Even if you remove fake wallet it may install some extra malicious software which can stay undetected and hit you again.

I am not 100% sure, but when this phishing attack start some user is report that after removing fake wallet and download legit one, he still see that fake wallet. Only way to remove it would be to delete all traces / files that stay in AppData/Electrum folder and registry.

Well, you did run the fake Electrum software. So you should probably do a clean reinstall of your OS and create a brand new wallet. There is no way of knowing if your PC is infected with any malware.

The latest version is only Electrum-3.3.4
It's unfortunate that you've not been aware of the malware and lost your coins. Always check the URL if it's the official site and verify the signature of the wallet.

So I just recently installed Electrum v4.0.0 because I was forced too by Electrum saying it won't work unless I install the newest version. Well so far after installing, I have tried to send coins twice and both times my coins magically disappeared. I am pretty certain that I sent to the right address. One thing that has happened both times is Electrum will not let me send any less than the max amount of coins I have had. I will enter an amount, let's pretend that I want to send 30 mBtc, and then press preview and it will magically jump to sending the full amount of 38 mBtc that I was in possession of at the time. No matter what I can't get it to send any less than the max amount. The first time I didn't notice until after I sent and this time I noticed but figured it didn't matter that much if I sent a few extra mBtc. Does anyone else know the issue or has anyone experienced the same things themselves?

I have bad news for you but unfortunately you were involved in a phishing attack when you were forced to upgrade to Electrum 4.0 which doesn't exist.

When you send a transaction from an old version, there is a fake message saying to download a new version and the link is a fake wallet.

You should only download Electrum from the official website at:
