Also he can manually check..
for example: see SHA-1 of file..

enter command cmd.e x e :
Code:
certutil -hashfile "c:\yourfile.dat" [HashAlgorithm]

Code:
certutil -hashfile "c:\yourfile.dat" SHA-1

after check original and your file.

you need to download the signature separately. in fact you download 3 different things:
1. the installation files. eg. https://download.electrum.org/3.0.2/electrum-3.0.2.exe
2. the signature file associated with the installation file you just downloaded. https://download.electrum.org/3.0.2/electrum-3.0.2.exe.asc
3. the creator's public key. https://pgp.mit.edu/pks/lookup?op=vindex&search=0x2BD5824B7F9470E6

then use GnuPG for windows (Gpg4win) or for Linux to verify that the file is signed with the correct key.

Newbie. obviously don't know if this is the right place to post. I tried to download electrum software for windows (I have 7). choices given were:

"Standalone Executable (signature)
Windows Installer (signature)
Note: The QR code scanner is not supported in Windows binaries
Note: Some old versions of Windows might need to install the KB2999226 Windows update"

regarding first note--don't know what it means
regarding second note--made sure I had the update

But when I downloaded the file and opened it, windows reports that it is not signed?Huh

appreciate any help!
