Why does it show me so many unverified when i look them up on explorer its all confirmed...
and is there a txn limit per key it doesn't like? i have 6000txn or larger on some of the addresses/priv keys i have.
Most likely this is your problem...

6000 txn per key!!?! Shocked Shocked Shocked

I think you'll find that the Electrum server(s) you are connecting to and attempting to retrieve the transaction data from just aren't able to cope with that level of demand Undecided

For that level of transactions, you may be better off with a full node as opposed to an SPV wallet...

i imported another key.. it scanned and doesnt show thew prior keys balance anymore? ....
When you add another private key does  it not just add it to the list of private keys or does it delete the prior one?
if you are using Electrum and you are actually importing these private keys (not sweeping them) then import means add the new key to your wallet. it doesn't affect the previous ones. you are either doing something wrong, or it is possible that your computer is compromised and when you imported one key in your electrum it was stolen from you by a malware.
check your address on a block explorer to see the transaction history in front of you and see what has happened.

With electrum,... it always says its sync and then disconnects... i try to spend from the available bal it shows allows me to sign the transactions
but then sits and comes back with server didnt respond? .....
make sure you are using the latest version of Electrum and download it from the right place (electrum.org) and also verify its signature.
as for the server connection problem make sure your firewall is not blocking Electrum's access to the internet. i remember there was a problem like this in one of the older versions.

it shows them as unverified because you have not yet downloaded the blockchain_headers file which is used for "verifying" the transactions.

i still think im hitting a peak mem overflow issue .... what software should i use to remedy this issue?
sharing one address which has that many transactions in its history here may help reproduce this bug and possibly fix it. not that i said "address" not "private key" you should never share your private key. an address starts with 1, 3 or bc1.

if you want to lie *cough*use your data; not mine.
i have another question.. so i tried it with the bitcoin client...

i imported 1 priv key.. it scanned and shows available bal... ok it all looks cool..
i imported another key.. it scanned and doesnt show thew prior keys balance anymore? ....
When you add another private key does  it not just add it to the list of private keys or does it delete the prior one?

ill post some screen shots, as its really stuff i am just beyond argh on. im not a pc noobie just its stumping me..
ill write something detailed but i think its a overflow of somekind. its been mentioned only a few times before ..

so give me the day here to try and put something more applicable on my problem .. ill shorten the import lists and see if i can do it in a few hours and get the same results.
i wont even elaborate just yet to show respect for your replies which i do i appreciate it very much  as i have been somewhat embarrassed to even ask these newbie questions.

so i just wanted to reply as i didnt forget but had other things i had to attend too and ive been stuck on this for weeks now.
i have 24GB 64bit OS.. im somewhat leaning towards a peak mem issue within the client..  there has to be max limit specified or a dat file limitation on entries .. otherwise the only thing i havent done is 32bit.. but but its nonsense assuming that .

I import keys which i have and it does so and says successful, but then throws out a error and crashes....

We'll be able to help you way easier if you can provide us the error message.
And maybe some further information (e.g. your OS, version of electrum, how much RAM, ..).

However prior to that it shows the balances as non verified and then when i open up the client after the crash it doesnt show what i just imported...

Are you running the installed version or the portable one ?
If you are running the portable one, where is it located ?

would earlier versions perhaps allow this if im hitting some kind of max limit on import?

Probably not. AFAIK there is no limit on imports.
With a lot of address/private keys the import windows will freeze for a few seconds (e.g. with 1000+ private keys). But it should still work.
There is no hard coded maximum amount.

You may be running out of RAM ? How much RAM does your PC have ?

Also, i don't think that wallets created after Electrum 1.9 are .dat files?

From what I have in my folders, the wallets seem to have no extension at all. Of course, you can put whatever extension you want when you create the wallet.

Hi, so im wondering what can i do here so that electrum wont crash.

I had issues a couple of times with Electrum crashing, it usually happened when I upgraded from an old version. It happened because of other files, not the actual wallets.
My solution was to find the electrum data folder and from there (with electrum closed): 1. backup all the wallet files (in wallets subfolder), 2. delete everything from there (or keep only the wallets subfolder).

Then restart Electrum, you can even make a dummy wallet to see it starts, then you can restore the old wallets (in my case it was copy the wallet files back, in your case would be to import those keys).

is there a size limit on dat creation? Seems i cannot have more than 97K? ..

What error exactly are you getting, and how much keys are you trying to import (Although i don't think that really matters here)?

I haven't heard of a "max amount" of keys that you can import with Electrum, so i don't think that that's the problem here.
