Where did you get this master key that you are using to create the view-only wallet? If it was from your Electrum wallet, which options did you select to show it?

And is this Electrum wallet in view-only?

ok sorry for the delay and thank you guys so much for your responses and time.

yes i'm 100% certain i have the bitcoin cash (BCH), no its not bitcoin gold.

i know the difference between the two, and my issue was trying to retrieve bitcoin cash from my old electrum wallet

i am extremely upset i didn't have more coins in where i'd get more bitcoin cash, (as it was showing the transactions, it kept saying i had received a bunch of bitcoin cash but i ended up not having very much at the very end)

anyways that's another topic and in hindsight.

1. i have electron cash wallet that i imported the master key into and it is VIEW ONLY mode

2. my bitcoin cash address starts with qrlv (it says there is less than one bitcoin, but still a substantial amount)

questions 3-5 to -yes, i am trying to claim them from the fork. i had multiple bitcoins in my wallet i withdrew a bunch as well though, as i didn't know we would receive bitcoin cash for them and yes just checked my balance, i have almost 1 BCH.

DarkAngel.  i am positive it is installed correctly. i didn't install it correctly initially. when i tried it on my other computer copying the master key from my electrum wallet it showed my bitcoin cash balance and all of my transactions, but for some reason it wouldn't show any bitcoin cash when i had initially tried to install it using a different method.

thanks so much guys for all of your help. once we get this you will be rewarded for your time and help.

The only thing that I know you can claim your bitcoin cash from Electron cash is to export the private keys from Electrum where your bitcoin save during bitcoin cash fork.

If your electrum wallet just made this year you can't claim any bitcoin cash or even bitcoin gold.

Or maybe only bitcoin gold you have?

Could you give us your bitcoin address where you save your bitcoin during bitcoin cash fork?

So that we can check if your bitcoin cash still there.

You can check it here https://blockchair.com/bitcoin-cash/blocks use the search box on the top of the page and you will see your bitcoin cash and check if your bitcoin cash balance is there.

Explain me some things so I can help you better:

1. Do you still have your BTC wallet that you used in Electrum and now are trying to import into Electron Cash?
2. Is your Bitcoin address starting with a 1, 3 or btc1?
3. Those BCH you are trying to spend... Did you receive them in a recent transaction? Or are you trying to "claim" them because of the Bitcoin Cash fork "airdrop"?
4. If you are just trying to "claim" them, did you had your Bitcoins in this wallet before August 1st, 2017?
5. Are you sure that you have BCH in your wallet? Did you try to search some of your addresses in a BCH explorer (i.e https://www.blockdozer.com/insight/) to see if they have any balance?

Don't let others control your BTC -> self custody

When I used my seed before, it wouldn't show me any Bitcoin Cash, it just showed my transactions without any Bitcoin Cash.

Maybe that is because you don't have any bitcoin cash?

I tried to sweep one of my old electrum export addresses into the Electron Cash wallet, but it wouldn't let me to (or allow me to click next)

Maybe the wallet wasn't installed properly. Maybe you've installed electron cash into your electrum folder by mistake?
Forget sweeping! If your Electrum wallet is working and you have all the transactions in there, download fresh electron cash (newest version), install it in a new place, possibly another disk so that you won't overwrite anything. Next, don't input seeds or anything, press open and go into your electrum folder (usually in appdata/roaming/electrum/wallets and choose a wallet. You're going to see your transactions on all the addresses that you have in your electrum wallet. If no BCH appears it means that you don't have any.

And one more thing, check if your wallet is connected to the network. If not, it won't show balances.

No I know my seed correctly.

When I used my seed before, it wouldn't show me any Bitcoin Cash, it just showed my transactions without any Bitcoin Cash.

I tried to sweep one of my old electrum export addresses into the Electron Cash wallet, but it wouldn't let me to (or allow me to click next)

I am just a bit confused on how I can use this wallet info in my Electron Cash wallet that is currently in VIEW ONLY mode and get it where I can spend the coins.

All of the things I did by trying to use my seed in the Electron Cash wallet, (which showed my old transactions, just no Bitcoin Cash) didn't seem to work.

I hope this doesn't sound too confusing to you. I just can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

Maybe I am over thinking this too much, but it didn't work when I put the seed into the Electron Cash (even though it showed my Electrum BTC transactions, it didn't show any Bitcoin Cash though).

Thanks for your time and help with assisting me and helping me with this. It sounds like you truly know your stuff.

You are probably importing your master PUBLIC key (starts with xpub), which isn't enough to spend the coins.

You said you can't import your 12 word seed. This means that one or more of those words is probably wrong. Do you still have your Electrum wallet file? You could open it again with Electrum and go to "Wallet" -> "Seed" to double-check your seed and see if everything is right. Or just do what I said above and open your wallet file into Electron Cash.

Did you try this? (if you still have your wallet file)

Do you still have your Electrum wallet file? You could also just open it directly on Electron Cash (File -> Open -> Select your wallet file).

Edit: Forgot to say that you posted this in the wrong board. Move it to the Electrum sub-board by clicking at "Move topic" at the bottom left of the page and selecting "Bitcoin --- Electrum")

I made a mistake in my initial post. I actually had put the 12 word seed, but it wouldn't work.

I was having a bunch of trouble initially and couldn't get the wallet to show any Bitcoin Cash.

Finally, I used the master key from my electrum wallet and then it showed my transactions.

Do you know if there's any way to try to re-download the Electron Cash wallet and either use the master key or how would you go about getting the Electron Cash wallet so I can send the funds and it isn't VIEW ONLY?

Would you use the master key from the Electron Wallet that is VIEW ONLY, or what are your thoughts?

The other issue I'm having is that I seem to only be able to download the Electron Cash wallet onto one computer without it memorizing all of my old info and just opening. I have some USB sticks I am using and saving it to which helps, but my options are sort of limited on how many attempts I can try (if that makes sense).

Thanks for your reply. Sorry for this being such a convoluted ordeal and posting.

"Standard Wallet" ->  "I already have a seed" -> Write your seed -> "Next";

Is this what you have done? If so, it should be working.

Do you still have your Electrum wallet file? You could also just open it directly on Electron Cash (File -> Open -> Select your wallet file).

I downloaded the Electron Cash and used my old 12 digit seed to upload my electrum wallet into my Electron Cash.

I finally got it to work, although it says I have the wallet in view only mode after I provided the master key and I cannot send the coins anywhere.

Are any of you familiar with this?

Any help is appreciated, and I would be willing to pay someone for their time if they can help me figure this out.

Thanks.
